1 1 CHABOT- LAS POSITAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT Facilities Planning & Management Department Addendum No. 1 INVITATION FOR RE-BID NO.: Hesperian Landscaping - Chabot College October 23, 2014 All Prospective Bidders: This addendum is issued to clarify, add, delete, correct and/or change the contract documents to the extent indicated and is hereby made a part of the above noted contract documents on which the contract will be based. Any modifications/changes made by this addendum affect only the portions or paragraphs specifically identified herein; all remaining portions of the proposal to remain in force. It is the responsibility of all bidders to conform to this addendum. Acknowledge receipt of this addendum in the space provided on the bid form. Failure to do so may subject Bidder to Disqualification. All other terms and conditions of Re-Bid No are to remain the same. The original Bid Documents are modified by the revision as follows: SUBMITTED RFI/BID QUESTIONS: QUESTION 1- PROJECT MANUAL: Notice Calling for Bids Item It appears that the District is classifying this project as substantially complex in invoking PCC section 7201 (b)(4) to raise retention from 5% to 10%. However with the signing of new legislation by Gov. Brown on 09/27/14, it requires District s to provide additional information when doing so. Therefore we request an explanation for why this is a unique project that isn t regularly, customarily or routinely performed by the district or licensed contractors. If the district agrees with our premise that this work is not substantially complex we would like to have the retention restored back to 5% per the newly enacted AB Chabot-Las Positas Community College District s Board of Trustees adopted and approved Resolution No For detailed explanation of substantially complex see

The corner of landscape at the intersection of Hesperian and Depot Road has irrigation symbols for the heads that are not shown in the irrigation legend. Please clarify what brand, model number, radius, arc, and description is of each symbol shown at the corner. See exhibits L1 and L2 attached. QUESTION 3- PLAN SHEETS: Sheet L1.2 Layout Notes and Legend: 3. The Planting legend calls out the turf sod to be Low Water using, No-Mow Turf: Bolero sod Native Bentgrass, by Delta Bluegrass. In checking with Delta Bluegrass the Bolero sods are Tall Fescues used in maintained turf blends not Bentgrasses. There is no Bolero no-mow. The no-mow native sods have 5 specific blends. Please clarify which blend we are to use. Sod to be: Native Bentgrass Agrostis pallens Available from: Delta Bluegrass QUESTION 4- PLAN SHEETS: Sheet L4.1 Irrigation Plan: 4. Please clarify that no tree bubblers are to be used on this project. They are listed in the legend and there are 2 identical details for tree bubblers but none are shown on the plans. If bubblers are intended, we need to have remote control valves, and lateral lines shown for those systems. 4.a. Sheet L4.1 the top section of the sheet has cut off 2 of the Remote Control Valves callouts for the station numbers, gallons per minute and valve size. Please clarify what these values are to be for these 2 remote control valves. a. No bubblers are specified for the project. Trees to get sufficient water from adjacent spray heads. b. See exhibit L3 attached.

Details show the granite tiles on the CMU wall but do not show any bottom support to the granite tiles. Please provide detail of the support for the granite tiles. Granite tiles on CMU wall do not require mechanical fasteners. Install and attached per detail 9/L5.1. Granite tiles located on Entry Sign are to be anchored per detail 10/L5.1. QUESTION 6-6. While getting prices for the plant material we discovered that the Festuca Glauca are not likely to be available in 5 gallon size. However, 1 gallon Festuca are readily available. Should we bid 1 gallon or can you provide a source for the 5 gallon? Bid as 5 gallon. A substitution request can be made during construction. At that time we will address the shortage of 5 gallon Festuca glauca with a different species/cultivar. CLARIFICATIONS AND REVISIONS TO BID DOCUMENTS: GENERAL: Replace in its entirety the DSA stamped conformed set with the previously distributed set. Submitted bid proposals must be based upon the DSA approved conformed set of drawings. ITEM 1 Pre-Cast Concrete Stepping Stones Sheet L2.1 and L5.1 Precast concrete step stones added at reader board.
