INSTA-STIK the portable roofing adhesive INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive for professionals has been developed for the attachment of insulation boards and single-ply polymeric waterproofing membranes to a variety of substrates on flat roofs. Single-ply membranes have to be fleecebacked. The compatibility of these membranes to any adjacent layer must be proven. INSTA-STIK is offered as a portable, pressurized container requiring no external power source. It is a cold applied system that is, quick, easy to use and provides fast adhesion. The Multi-Bead Applicator On roof decks with few penetrations or obstructions, INSTA-STIK can be dispensed at an increased rate by using the Multi-Bead Applicator (MBA-28). * Trademark of The Dow Chemical Company ( Dow ) or an affiliated company

INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive is compatible with the following insulation boards: Glass tissue faced boards Bituminous felt faced boards Rock fiber boards Extruded polystyrene boards (XPS) Expanded polystyrene boards (EPS) Cellular glass insulation boards Cork insulation boards Wood fiber boards

INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive is compatible with the following substrates: Oriented strand boards (OSB) Sanded bituminous membranes in existing flat roofs Mastic asphalt Concrete decks Galvanized metal decks Plywood Important notes: Generally, but especially for galvanized metal decks, surfaces must be free from oil and grease. Before installation, the suitability of the roof assembly to resist wind loading must be assessed in accordance with national requirements. For information on compatibility of INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive to other building materials and substrates than listed, please refer to the local Dow office or distributor of INSTA-STIK products. Generally, the compatibility of adjacent layers bond with INSTA-STIK roofing adhesives must be proven by manufacturers of the layers. Table 1 - INSTA-STIK APPLICATION FOR ATTACHMENT OF INSULATION BOARDS Because of greater wind pressures exerted in perimeter areas, it is recommended to increase fixing in that area. Table 1 provides information on INSTA-STIK bead size and spacing. Building height (m) Parapet height Perimeter band width (m) Spacing at perimeter Spacing central roof area 0-6, ,0-12, ,5-21, ,5-30, ,0 0 2,0 4,0 Coverage is approximately 100 m 2 of insulation per tank of INSTA-STIK for 19-25mm wide beads at mm spacing. Based on an adhesive bond strength of 1,5 kn/m bead length (19-25 mm width) between substrate and insulation.

Features and benefits of INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive Fast, clean and easy to apply Provides fast and good adhesion Can be used with very short preparation time no heating required No primer needed Safe in use no fire risk Clean in use no fumes, no dust No damage to substrate by mechanical fixings No thermal bridging No visible fasteners on the underside of the substrate High yield: INSTA-STIK canister adheres up to 100 m 2 INSTA-STIK might be used on vertical substrates (e.g. upstands) Controlled application due to the use of a professional wand applicator Table 2 - INSTA-STIK APPLICATION FOR ATTACHMENT OF FLEECE BACKED MEMBRANES Building height (m) Parapet height Perimeter band width (m) Perimeter bead band Spacing central roof area 0-6, ,0-12, ,5-21, ,5-30, ,0 0 2,0 4,0 Coverage is up to 100 m 2 of membrane per tank of INSTA-STIK, with mm beads at mm spacing. The table is based on tests done with Fleece-backed membranes in Europe. Test reports are available on request.

How to use INSTA-STIK roofing Before starting application of INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive: Substrate should be clean and dry Wear protective eyewear and gloves 1 Remove cylinder from the carton. Shake vigorously for a minimum of one minute using a side-to-side motion before attaching hose. 2 Attach the swivel hose fitting on the end of the dispensing hose to the threaded part of the cylinder valve. Once it is seated properly, tighten securely. 3 Make sure brass ON/OFF trigger valve attached to dispensing hose is in the OFF position. 4 Attach the double threaded wand to the dispensing hose ON/OFF trigger valve. Hand tighten. 5 Slowly open the valve at the top of the cylinder until it is completely open. CHECK FOR LEAKS. If there are no leaks, INSTA-STIK is ready for use. 6 Before dispensing INSTA-STIK roofing adhesive, slowly move the ON/OFF trigger valve to the ON position. Flow may be controlled by this ON/OFF valve. 7 About 5 seconds before you want INSTA-STIK to stop flowing, close the ON/OFF valve by moving the trigger to the OFF position. It is normal for a small amount of adhesive to flow from the nozzle after the valve is closed. 8 For INSTA-STIK bead size and spacing refer to table 1. 9 When applying INSTA-STIK, the insulation boards must be placed end-to-end with staggered joints in alternating rows. Set board into the adhesive beads within three minutes. Walk on the boards immediately to spread the beads for maximum contact. Continue to walk on the insulation boards every 5-7 minutes until the insulation is firmly attached, usually minutes. NOTE: Humidity directly affects curing time. Under low humidity conditions, the insulation boards must be walked on more often until firmly attached.

How to use INSTA-STIK roofing 10 Where possible beads should run across the width of the insulation boards rather than length. 11 After emptying INSTA-STIK place the wand and hose on a new INSTA-STIK canister. Procedure: Close tank valve, open on/off trigger valve to release residual pressure. Wearing gloves and protective eyewear undo the swivel hose fitting from the tank and transfer to a new tank. Dispense some INSTA-STIK immediately. 12 Before disposal the empty canister should be placed upside down in the original carton and the valve opened to release any residual pressure. Further recommendations Storage between temperatures of +15 C and +30 C for best results Ambient and substrate temperature +5 C to +40 C Between using INSTA-STIK (including overnight), stand in vertical position, leave the valve on the top of the tank open, and close ON/OFF valve leaving adhesive in the hose length. Store in a safe and secure place If the end of the wand becomes blocked cut off approximately 10-25mm until clear. All pressure must be released from cylinder before disposal. Thereafter canister is common steel waste for a scrap yard. Minimum thickness of steel in metal decks: 0,7 mm.
