4 WHAT I S YOUR ROOF PITCH? FAKRO windows are well suited for a roof pitch of between 15 and 90 degrees. However, the installation pitch range may differ for certain types of windows MAINTENANCE FREE VENTILATION Always fresh air in the attic space. Given the tightness of joinery used in modern construction, there can be a reduction of fresh air circulating, which in turn can cause condensation in the room. In order to reduce this phenomenon, FAKRO windows use a number of different air inlets: V40P Positioned in the top part of the frame. At a pressure difference of 10Pa air inlet capacity is up to 49m 3 /h depending upon the window width. By automatically adjusting the volume of flow channel, the air inlet secures the optimum amount of air into the room providing a healthy climate in the attic and saving heat and energy cost. Used in FTP-V and FPP-V window. V10 Air inlet V10 - has a manual adjustment of air flow. When fully opened this inlet provides fresh air up to 9m 3 /h at a pressure difference of 10Pa. V10 air inlet should be used only in areas where unassisted gravitational ventilation works well. Used in FTS-V window. ENHANCED ANTI-BURGLARY RESISTANCE FAKRO roof windows have been designed to provide the highest sense of security and are equipped with the pioneering topsafe system of reinforcement. Used in conjunction with toughened external glass, the system significantly improves the resistance to break-in attempts and protects against the sash opening if inadvertently stepped on. This has enabled all FAKRO products to meet a minimum Class III - EN13049 for safety and security. 4

5 AMPLE NATURAL LIGHT Light = space. The design of FAKRO roof windows provides appropriate illumination of the room. Specially shaped profiled of the frame and sash as well as the air inlet location in the upper part of the frame allow for the influx of a high amount of natural light. The higher the window is installed, the better the room lighting and with the handle in the bottom of the sash, the window can be installed correspondingly higher. 8 SOLUTIONS not offered by others In addition to placing heavy emphasis on aesthetics, a key requirement of any FAKRO product is that it should offer the highest standard of durability. FAKRO roof windows have been designed to function effectively in the harshest environments to a standard which others either do not offer or have been slow to introduce. A system for which a patent is pending relates to special locks used in FAKRO roof windows which protect the glazing unit against unauthorized removal. Other manufacturers may offer only laminated glass which can be removed simply by undoing the retaining profiles. Protection of corners is currently the subject of a further patent application in which the technology of joining window profiles makes FAKRO roof windows perform even in the most extreme weather conditions. Unlike other competitors roof windows (particularly white windows), no cracks will form in corners. FAKRO OTHER WINDOWS All roof windows (except FTS-V) have been equipped with an additional glazing seal which improves airtightness even under the most extreme weather conditions. The seal also provides enhanced acoustic performance. A sash guiding system ensures optimum contact between seals and profiles while enabling the window to be installed or removed quickly without taking out the sash. Warm TGI spacers reduce thermal bridging, thereby minimizing condensation on either glass or timber and greatly increasing the durability of the timber. Vacuum impregnation of the timber is several times more effective than immersion. FAKRO roof windows are vacuum impregnated with exposed surfaces also being finished with successive coats of a durable lacquer to provide lasting protection and appearance. 8

As one of the most innovative companies in Poland, FAKRO uses a revolutionary radio communication system called Z-Wave in its products. This allows you to create a single network by combining a range of electrical devices such as: lighting, thermostats, alarms, computers, telephones, air conditioning and electric windows and blinds. Every single electrical device produced by FAKRO contains its own electronic module incorporating the Z-Wave chip. The new generation preselect roof window offers two distinct means of opening the sash. It can be used as either a top hung or central pivot window, with both offering complete stability and improved safety. Changing from top hung to centre pivot operation is achieved simply by use of a preselect switch in the frame. This activates a unique system of hardware while ensuring that both functions remain independent of each other. When designing the antiburglary Secure window, we took the concept of burglary protection to another level. In addition to using topsafe, the window is equipped with a system which prevents removal of the glazing unit and uses an anti-burglary internal pane Class P2A. Our Secure windows do not require additional locks and are therefore more aesthetically stylish and functionally efficient. 9

18 FLASHINGS Flashings are essential for the correct installation of roof windows and skylights. Precisely designed flashing details ensure a durable and neat fit with the roofing material used. The purpose of flashings is to ensure good drainage away from the window and to provide protection from the elements. Flashings should be used with all types of HomeTech FAKRO roof windows and skylights. HomeTech offers flashing solutions for corrugated, concrete tile, decrobond and slate roofs, made of aluminum sheet as standard and permanently protected with polyester varnish. The flashing is brown, which matches well with most roofing finishes. 18

19 FLASHING FOR CENTRAL PIVOT WINDOWS, TOP HUNG AND PIVOT WINDOW The EH flashing is suitable for the water tight connection of roof windows with roof coverings such as roof tiles and high profile metal sheeting. It can be applied to roof coverings with a profile depth of up to 90 mm and is applied to individual windows in the slope of the roof. It may also be used as module flashing for windows installed in horizontal and vetrtical combinations or block groups.
