Application Mixing Instructions Open a new 5 gallon pail of Plastone. Mix with a low speed mixer for about 30 seconds or until the product is homogeneous. If necessary, add a small amount of water to adjust workability. Final consistency should be a creamy, light and easily trowel-applied or spray-applied mixture For Interior Use Drywall and masonry substrates are suitable to receive Plastone. A primed or painted drywall surface is highly recommended, although level- 3 drywall will work. Painted or raw masonry are also acceptable substrates. Glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded before application. The substrate must be fi rm, dry and free of loose debris and any substance that would interfere with bond. Using a steel trowel, apply a thin 1/32 skim coat of Plastone. Keep a wet edge to a natural stop, such as inside or outside corner. Allow the Plastone to dry at least two hours. Apply a second pass of Plastone by trowel or spray and immediately texture with the appropriate tool and technique to achieve the desired surface effects. If Plastain acrylic stain is being used, allow the Plastone to dry 24 hours before application of the stain. Refer to the Plastain data sheet for more information.

3 PLASTONE SYNTHETIC PLASTER FINISH For Exterior Use Acceptable substrates are: raw masonry, painted masonry, Portland cement plaster, or any EIFS (exterior insulated and finish system) base coat or finish. Glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded before application. eyes, get immediate medical attention in addition to flushing. Wear safety glasses and protective clothing. Keep out of reach of children and pets. The substrate must be fi rm, dry and free of loose debris and any substance that would interfere with bond. Cracks in the substrate should be treated with 4 wide sticky mesh prior to application. Using a steel trowel, apply a thin skim coat of Plastone to the substrate. Keep a wet edge and continue to a natural stop, such as a corner. Allow the Plastone to dry until it is firm and dry to the touch. Handling and Storage Environmental conditions including temperature, sunlight, wind and humidity will affect drying and may affect appearance. Therefore, try to schedule work to minimize large swings in conditions. Avoid application in direct sunlight. Partial pails of product may be stored by first misting the surface of the product and underside of the lid with water before securing the lid. Opaque liquid ph (wet) Approx. 9.0 Density (wet) lbs per gallon Backbone...Acrylic polymer based Fire Resistance...FSI 5 ASTM E84 Water Resistance...ASTM D2247 Mold Resistance...Mil Std 810D Coverage Coverage will vary greatly depending on substrate porosity and depth of color desired. Coverage may vary from 200 to 400 square feet per gallon. The more typical coverage rate is 300 square feet per gallon or 1500 square feet per 5-gallon pail.. Packaging Sold as two components: Resin Base available in 1 and 5 gallon pails; Colorant available in 8 and 32 ounce sizes. Application Mixing Instructions Plastain Acrylic Sealer and Stain is a 5-gallon pail of liquid resin base plus a 32-ounce bottle of colorant (or 1-gallon pail of resin and an 8-ounce unit of colorant). The colorant is added to the liquid resin base and slow-speed mixed or shaken to produce the stain. Some water (up to one gallon per 5-gallon unit) can be added to thin and lower the hiding power of Plastain as desired, and if necessary, to achieve a specifi c effect or result. Plastain may be used without the colorant as a clear sealer. For Interior or Exterior Use Unpainted synthetic fi nishes, Portland cement

5 PLASTAINSTAIN/SEALER stucco fi nishes, masonry mortars, and many natural or synthetic masonry substrates are suitable surfaces to receive Plastain. The substrate must be fi rm, dry and free of loose debris and any substance that would interfere with bond. Any repairs to the substrate should be made prior to application of Plastain. The color and underlying tone of Plastain are selected from the color chart. The colors portrayed on the color chart are representative of medium to light application of Plastain over white Plastone Synthetic Plaster Finish. Color development over other fi nish surfaces may vary and should be area tested and application adjusted to achieve a desired result. The depth of color and degree of mottling (or faux-effect) is controlled by the application technique. The application tools can be a brush, roller, sponge, spray, or cloth in any combination. Stain Effects An even and deep color tone can be achieved with spray or roller application alone. An even and lighter color tone can also be achieved with a roller or spray by applying less Plastain or by diluting the 5-gallon Plastain unit with up to 1-gallon of additional water. A very light application of Plastain immediately followed by wiping with a clean damp cloth will produce a very mild antiquing effect. A mottled or faux fi nish can be achieved a number of ways and each technique will yield its own, reproducible result. Here are just a few techniques to achieve various mottled and faux results: freezing conditions and precipitation. Handling and Storage Environmental conditions including temperature, sunlight, wind and humidity will affect drying and may affect appearance. Therefore, try to schedule work to minimize large swings in conditions. Avoid application in direct sunlight. Do not apply to frozen or saturated surfaces. Protect from precipitation for 12 hours. Do not apply if the temperature cannot be maintained above 40 F for 24 hours. Protect product from freezing. Shelf-life in unopened pails is 18 months when stored indoors with temperature between 35 F to 95 F. Partial pails of product may be stored by fi rst misting the surface of the product and underside of the lid with water before securing the lid. Maintenance If damage occurs to an installed system, repair with the same materials using similar application techniques to recreate a matching result. Precautions This product is a mildly alkaline based material. Do not ingest. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, fl ush with water. For contact with eyes, get immediate medical attention in addition to fl ushing. Wear safety glasses and protective clothing. Keep out of reach of children and pets. 1. Spray or roller application of Plastain followed by random wiping with a damp cloth or damp sponge (the more you wipe the surface, the more mottling results) 2. Dabbing Plastain with a damp sponge 3. Spray or roller application followed by damp brushing 4. Brush application followed by damp cloth or sponge wiping 5. Spray, roller or brush application of a fi rst coat followed by area application of a second coat 6. Using a second or third contrasting color Plastain in area applications Total Wall Inc. P.O.
