1 WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 SECTION 55A1 ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, WASHINGTON COUNTY Contractor: Independence Excavating, Inc 1. Work Shift Day shift (M-F) with Saturday as a makeup day. 2. Traffic Candor Road reopened to traffic on Aug. 24, Beech Hollow Road is permanently closed. The new Beech Hollow Connector is expected to open next spring. No impacts to S.R. 980, S.R. 22 and Quicksilver Road are anticipated. Deliveries for concrete paving will continue using S.R. 980 into the plant, which is located on-site between Quicksilver Road and Donaldson Road. 3. Earthwork All blasting is complete for Section 55A1. 4. Roadway and Bridge Work Concrete paving work will continue. Work will continue for the bridges over Raccoon Creek and at the Beech Hollow Interchange. 5. Gas/Oil Wells All gas/oil well work is complete for Section 55A1. 6. Noise/Dust/Runoff Control Two water trucks are working throughout the project area to control dust during dry periods. 3 WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 SECTION 55B CECIL AND SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIPS IN WASHINGTON AND ALLEGHENY COUNTIES: Contractor: Fay 1. Work Shift Double shifts, five days per week (M-F), ending at 10 p.m. with Saturday as a makeup day. 2. Traffic There will be ongoing 10-minute stoppages and single-lane closures on S.R. 980 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for overhead bridge work. Upper Laurel Hill Road remains closed. 3. Earthwork Major excavation work will continue at the eastern end of the project near Laurel Hill Road. This activity will take place during day and evening shifts. Blasting will occur near North Reissing Road and will generally be performed around noon. The contractor will give a 30-second horn blast, wait 30 seconds and repeat. There is one minute between the time of the first horn until the actual blast occurs. Usually five to 10 minutes after the blast, and upon review of the blast area, the all-clear siren will sound. Blasting may be required for the excavation of Pond 3B along the east side of S.R TraffiC stoppages may be required. 4. Roadway and Bridge Work Concrete pavement is expected to begin within the next two weeks on the west side of S.R Trucks delivering material will access the site from Johns Avenue at Sherlock Circle. The concrete deck placements for the S.R. 980 bridges will continue next week. The next bridge deck concrete placements are planned for Tuesday, September 18, and Thursday, September 20. Concrete trucks will access the site from S.R. 980 under the bridge. A flagger will be present. This work is scheduled to begin at 4 a.m. Concrete cannot be poured on a hot deck surface. The deck surface is much cooler early in the morning for this work to be done. The S.R. 980 deck placements will be performed periodically throughout September and October. Roadway concrete can be poured throughout the day. However, sawcutting of the newly poured concrete must occur within a specified time after pouring, which will most likely be late evening. Sawcutting is necessary to control cracking as the new concrete cures. 5. Gas/Oil Wells Work on Well B-24 near Laurel Hill Road is expected to begin in October. 6. Noise/Dust/Runoff Control Two water trucks are working throughout the project area to control dust during dry periods. 5 WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 SECTION 55C1-1 CECIL AND SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIPS IN WASHINGTON AND ALLEGHENY COUNTIES: Contractor: Beaver Excavating Co. 1. Work Shift Day shift (M-F) 10 hours with Saturday as a makeup day. 2. Traffic Millers Run Road (S.R. 3001) remains closed. Cecil-Sturgeon Road (T-842) and Cecil-Reissing Road (T-840) are closed. 3. Earthwork Major excavation work continues between Cecil-Reissing Road and Cecil-Sturgeon Road. Blasting will occur between Cecil-Reissing Road and Cecil-Sturgeon Road. Mine grouting operations will continue west of Cecil-Reissing Road. 4. Roadway and Bridge Work Substructure work continues for the bridges that will span Millers Run Road and S.R. 50. Construction of a 9-foot-by-9-foot box culvert is planned to begin next week. This culvert is located adjacent to Cecil-Reissing Road. 5. Gas/Oil Wells Work on the well west of Cecil-Reissing Road continues. 6. Noise/Dust/Runoff Control Two water trucks are working throughout the project area to control dust during dry periods. A street sweeper is on-site and will be deployed to clean public roads as needed. 7 WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 SECTION 55C1-2 SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY: Contractor: Trumbull Corp. 1. Work Shift Day shift (M-F) with Saturday as a makeup day. 2. Traffic Hickory Grade Road is closed, and traffic is being detoured. Construction vehicles access the work site between S.R. 50 up Parks Road and onto Hickory Grade Road. Construction vehicles also use Bowman Road to access two work-site entrances. 3. Earthwork Work has been stopped because of the excessive amounts of rain experienced over the weekend. There will be very limited work going on for the remainder of the week of Sept. 14. When work resumes, earthwork will be continuing at the far east end of the project between old Coal Pit Run Road and County Line Road. The next blast will occur in the coming week and will be done near Hickory Grade Road. For all blasts, the contractor will give a 30-second horn blast, wait 30 seconds and repeat.
