4 Description of the system All modern projects are carried out by protecting high-rise buildings and civil engineering structures from accumulated waters on surrounding surfaces. In order to collect this water and ensure its diversion, it is necessary to incorporate a system of drainage pipes with perforations in the pipe walls to carry this out effectively. These perforations allow water to enter the pipe, which are then diverted to a sewage system or absorption drain, resulting in the ground drying out and reducing its impact on the structure. The vargodren drainage system is manufactured in compliance with HRN EN , 3 and DIN ensuring the highest quality. The corrugated drainage pipes are made from vargokor PE-HD corrugated pipes that possess a SN8 loading capacity, hence they can be used even on the most demanding roadways and in places where the pipes are exposed to large loads. Laboratory vargodren pipe is manufactured in accordance with the requirements of EN , 3 and DIN The production process is continuously monitored and conducted tests of finished products are in accordance with the requirements of DIN The tests carried out are as follows: Testing the melt mass-fl ow according to DIN EN ISO Testing the density according to DIN EN ISO Testing the width and length of perforations according to the requirements of DIN Testing the ring stiffness of thermoplastic pipes according to DIN EN ISO

5 Transport and assembly 1. Transport to the construction site vargodren drainage pipes and connecting elements must be transported using appropriate vehicles, loaded and unloaded under professional supervision. During transport, the pipes should be placed along a maximum surface areas in order to avoid damage. 2. Unloading from a transport vehicle a) Bagger or crane It is recoended to use belts / lifting straps (eg, textile or similar). Chains and cables can damage the pipes so it is not advisable to use them. Be sure to prevent throwing, falling and hitting different parts of pipes and parts configurations. Lifting straps must be placed under palette / transport base, in the middle at a distance of 3.5 m. b) Forklift Pipes need to be put across the forks, taking care that the forks are at a maximum distance from one another. 3. Storage on the construction site Palettes must be unloaded steadily on a hard surface, it must be disposed of in a sufficiently stable surface to avoid sinking of palettes or their wood base. Pipes and fittings can be stored in the open, where the storage time in the open air should not be longer than one year. While storing the pipes, consider the following: a) Pipes must be stored in the way to ensure a flat surface for deposition. b) The height of stacked pipes should not exceed 2m. Stacked pipes must be fixed on the sides. c) Stored vargodren pipes is necessary to protect from overheating during the suertime or extreme heat. It is recoended to store the pipes in the shade or cover with light tarpaulin. 4. Transport to a trench For transportation of individual pipes and parts of the system to the trench, due to their light weight, no special equipment for lifting is required. If you need to transport pallets for the same applies specified in section Unloading the truck. Transportation of single pipes to the trench using chains or cables is not allowed.. 5. Abbreviation of vargodren pipes Pipes should be cut using a fine teeth saw, in the middle of recess part and vertically on pipe axis. Unevenness and roughness in the area of separation should be removed by a scalpel, knife or grind paper. All that is required for use of a half-pipe is a coupling and two seals for each particular piece, because vargodren drainage pipes are identical at both ends. 5

6 6. Making a trench Pipes should be placed on a base that should be made out of a low-granulation material that is at least 10 to 15 cm thick. We recoend using materials which can be well compressed (such as sand and gravel) and which bind poorly or do not bind at all. After this, the same material is used for covering pipes up to 15 cm above the top of the pipe. Compressing the material used for covering directly above pipes must be done manually. Mechanical compression of the material can be used when at least 30 cm of material was put above the pipe. Pipes must not come in touch with compression devices. By the installation, the pipes need to be ensured sideways and altitudinally. Filling up (from 30 cm above top head of the pipe) follows in layers. Up to 1 m of the material lighter to medium devices for compressing can be used. Heavy machines may be used afterwards. 8. Installation of vargodren drainage pipes Prior to assembilin the pipeline, pipe ends should be checked for possible damages that occuerd during transport or storing. Connecting vargodren drainage pipes is carried out by using couplings and seals. The seals secure the connection and guarantee the sure joining of the pipes even when assembling under unfavourable conditions. When joining the pipes, the following steps should be taken: a) End of the pipe which is to be inserted into the coupling (area leading to the third rib), including the inner surface of the coupling, should be cleaned of dirt using a cloth. The seal, without stretching, should be inserted evenly at the first full groove between the rib sections on top of the pipe, which is to be inserted into the coupling. b) The seal located on the pipe and internal section of the coupling is evenly coated with a lubricant for easier insertion of the pipe into the coupling. Oil or grease is not to be used for this purpose. The coated end sections of the pipe must no longer be placed on surfaces due to the danger of grime or dirt on the surface adhering to the pipe. c) Iediately prior to installing, the coupling and pipe should once again be inspected for foreign bodies and removed if necessary. Special care should be taken in noticing gravel, sand or small pieces that have, during work on the pipe, come into the coupling or have adhered to the coating d) vargodren drainage pipe must be inserted into the coupling up to the boundary or marking, previously marked on the pipe. One or two persons can carry out the assembly. Using a crowbar or wooden beam placed between, the pipe can be pushed into the coupling without any difficulties. Assembly using an excavator is not permitted 6

7 Types of drainage pipes Due to the angle and number of perforations vargodren drainage pipes can be divided into three types: Type A - pipes perforated at 120 with one or two incisions Type B pipes perforated at 240 with two or four incisions Type C pipes perforated at 360 with three or six incisions Type A 120 / 1 Type B 240 / 2 Type C 360 / / / / 6 Corugated drainage pipes Outer diameter De Inner diameter Di Rib height h Weight kg/m Amount of pipes on truck 7,40 m m Amount of pipes on tow 13,60 m m ,5 1, ,0 2, ,0 4, ,5 7, ,5 10, ,0 17, Different vargodren pipes, depending on type of the perforation and diametar, have different permeable area, as you can see in the following table: Average perforated area per meter (cm²/m) Diameter Type A Type B Type C 120 /1 120 /2 240 /2 240 /4 360 /3 360 / ,59 100,75 221,34 181,28 301,86 241, ,08 110,24 241,97 198,29 330,03 264, ,89 99,16 218,30 178,59 297,48 238, ,72 200,60 441,32 361,08 601,80 481, ,40 189,57 416,97 341,02 568,56 454, ,79 198,07 435,86 356,68 594,34 475,45 7
