Building Construction & Renovation Project Report B. Capital Improvement Project Report C. Summer Maintenance Report A. BUILDING CONSTRUCTION & RENOVATION PROJECT REPORT New 7 & 8 Building The New 7 & 8 Building construction Project is progressing well. Construction was initiated in the Fall of The project is approximately 50% completed with total building enclosure being completed by December of This Fall the synthetic track new sod athletic field and remaining site work will be completed. The Project remains on schedule with occupancy by August of New Weight Room/Team Room Renovation The Design Phase of this project has been initiated. The following timelines have been identified. Design & Bid Documents October 2008 Bids received & approved by Board of School Directors November 2008 Work to be initiated January 2009 Completion August 2009

2 B. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT REPORT Capital improvements to district buildings have continued again this year. Projects have been identified through the use of the Capital Improvement Plan (Priority Matrix). SCHOOL PROJECT High School Relocation of first set of leg curtains away from from light bars Middle School Auditorium stage floor replacement and refinishing Auditorium carpet replacement Installation of 100 additional lockers and renovations to existing lockers Removal of carpet in 47 classrooms and installation of PVT in all areas Re-grading of Athletic Field #1 and installation of sod Bushkill Installation of under drain system for Be-Safe Playground and replace mulch Removal of carpet in all hallways and Installation of PVT tile Lower Nazareth Installation of under drain system for both rear Playgrounds and installation of new mulch Shafer No major projects

3 C. SUMMER MAINTENANCE REPORT As usual, this summer proved to be a busy one. In addition to the day-to-day business activities, we were also involved in the new building construction project as well as Capital Improvement Projects at various district buildings. With school scheduled to start early this year, there were forty-one working days to accomplish numerous tasks. The Maintenance and Custodial Staff, along with the part-time summer workers are to be commended for their hard work and dedication. Additionally, I would like to commend the fine efforts of Ms. Kimberly Crane and our secretarial staff for their commitment to the smooth operation of this department. I must also mention Mr. Jamie Lynch, Mr. Dominic Villani, and Mr. Josh Grice of D Huy Engineering for their valuable assistance in the day to day activities of this department. 4 SUMMER MAINTENANCE REPORT The following represents all projects completed or in progress at various buildings. This list does not include the daily work orders that are submitted by appropriate building personnel. Pending projects are highlighted. During the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, approximately 3,401 jobs were completed. ALL BUILDINGS & DISTRICT WIDE SERVICES - Preventive Maintenance was performed on all boilers (Burners to be completed during fall start-up) - Preventive maintenance was performed on HVAC equipment - Preventive maintenance and inspections of all emergency generator and electrical transfer switches - Preventive maintenance was performed on kitchen equipment and ice machines - Preparation of all athletic fields for Fall season - In-House building inspections completed at all buildings - Inspections of all roofs, drains, etc. - State inspections of all boilers and pressure vessels - Grease traps checked and cleaned as necessary - Inspections of all elevators completed - Testing of all backflow prevention devices at all buildings and results submitted to Pennsylvania American Water Company - Repairs to school furniture district wide MAIL PROGRAM Distribution of Intra-District Mail continued throughout Summer GENERAL WAREHOUSE Receiving and distribution of all supplies to all district facilities Annual inventory audit completed LAWN CARE Under contract (Searock s, & Bryan C. Klein) TREE & SHRUB TRIMMING Completed at all NASD Facilities on as needed basis by contractors and Maintenance Department

5 HIGH SCHOOL Three steam boilers opened, cleaned, and serviced; burners to be completed at fall start-up Clean all yard drains and catch basins around building Install 2x2 pans for ceiling mounted projectors in 16 classrooms Change locks for weight room Change locks for Main Office Clean and PM all HVAC units in North Campus and replace filters Clean and PM all HVAC units in Main Campus and replace filters Clean clay traps for the Art Rooms Clean/repair traps in the Science Labs Check and service acid neutralization tank in courtyard Fabricate and install new partition/counter in Main Office Install emergency power to IDF room #514 & #242 Clean main gym light covers and re-lamp all fixtures Remove two (2) lab stations each in Classroom #405 & #408 Relocate outlets and disconnect and cap water & sewer lines install new floor tile in areas Pump and clean grease trap for building Repair valves and replace motors for condensate pumps in crawlspace Re-build steam valve in the boiler room Re-build chilled water pump D Replace all components in MBC2 in the boiler room Seal and caulk around MEC15 in room #217 Install protective hood over air intake at North Campus Install electric hand driers in bathrooms by #221 & #242 Install backflow prevention device on the North Campus water service All student lockers repaired Repair walls and paint kitchen areas Repair walls and paint in Theater Director s office and ticket booth Paint room #416 Paint canopy posts at main & gym entrances Re-paint band practice grid in North Campus Parking Lot Re-paint all crosswalks and curbing Paint the girls bathroom by the cafeteria STADIUM Installation of backflow prevention device on the Stadium water service Initiated painting of the home side bleacher structure Turf field professionally cleaned and groomed

6 BORO PARK Installation of new sod on the entire infield, first and third baselines as well as the inner edge of the outfield area MIDDLE SCHOOL Complete removal of all furniture and supplies in 47 rooms for carpet removal project Prop all counters and loosen all electrical conduits in classrooms to facilitate carpet removal and tile installation and refastened after completion Install wood trim around drywall edges for all skylights in Main Hall Waterproof exterior masonry walls on NW side of building Install new wiring loop for Energy Management System Check and service acid neutralization tank for Science Labs Pump and clean grease trap for building Install two 220v lines for new copiers Replace air switch on domestic hot water heater Clean and service all traps for Science and Art Rooms Clean and re-set all sewer line clean-out covers in basement level due to floor project BUSHKILL Install new backflow prevention device and waterproof meter pit Install electronic ballasts and re-lamp all fixtures in Be-Safe Trailer Clean up area behind pavilion, add top soil, re-grade and seed entire area Paint metal table/shelf units under pavilion Waterproof masonry wall above Cafeteria hallway Pump and clean grease trap for building Sort through and organize keys and records for the building Top dress rear playgrounds Install 220v line for new copier in Support Staff Room Re-paint parking lot lines, crosswalks, and curbs Paint TV Studio backdrop walls Chroma Key Green Repair walls in classroom #206 and repaint Clean and re-set all sewer line clean-out covers in hallways due to floor project

7 LOWER NAZARETH Clean Gym light covers and re-lamp all fixtures Repair minor sinkholes to rear of building Pump and clean grease trap for building Clean traps in Art Rooms Repair rear exit steps to modular Install two 220v lines for new copiers Re-paint curbs and lot lines as needed SHAFER Clean Gym light covers and re-lamp all fixtures Install 220v line in Faculty Room and re-locate copier Stucco and seal interior wall of front stairwell Paint wall in new Team Room Chroma Key Green Top dress playground Assemble mailbox unit in Room #212 MAINTENANCE Installed outside lighting in the salt/cinder storage bins Re-grade and seed area where top soil was stored Compile HVAC Filter List for all equipment

8 ENVIRONMENTAL & SAFETY SERVICES AHERA (ASBESTOS HAZARD EMERGENCY RESPONSE ACT) Six month periodic surveillance inspection report completed and filed with the State of Pennsylvania RIGHT TO KNOW Labeling of all chemicals and necessary paper work has been completed for all buildings MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET (MSDS) MSDS audit completed annually for all products in use by the District and binders distributed to all buildings with master copies in each Main Office FIRE EXTINGUISHER INSPECTIONS Completed at all District Facilities with upgrades and replacements as needed FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSPECTION High School Auditorium System tested and inspected High School Science Lab storage areas tested and inspected FIRE ALARM TESTING (DISTRICT STAFF) Completed weekly at all NASD Facilities IPM PROGRAM Integrated Pest Management as needed under contract IAQ TESTING Indoor Air Quality Testing was completed in May 2008 in all buildings and will continue during the school year as needed RECYCLING PROGRAM Under Contract
