2 SDUSD Prop. S ICOC Attendees gathered in parking lot at the rear of the campus. The Project Manager provided a summary of work underway at Madison High School. The auto shop project is nearing completion; it was awarded in Sep- $43k for a change order rate of 1.34%; there are pending changes that are expected to result in a 4.3% rate. Current contract completion date is in Aug The multi-media production facility construction contract was awarded in Apr-2010 and is currently 7% complete with a contract completion date in Feb-2011 and contract value or $2.6 million. The stadium upgrade construction contract has been recently awarded and initial earthwork has started; contract value is $5 million. Preliminary design has started for the whole site modernization project scheduled to start construction in mid The attendees spent a few minutes watching earthmovers and excavators working in the stadium upgrade project, the project manager and principal answered questions about the initial planning, communication and collaboration with the local community. Attendees walked through the auto shop project. The auto shop has a large outdoor yard protected from view by high block walls. The auto shop building has 8 bays, including two lift bays, three storage bays, and a small lecture hall. The work bay area had a high ceiling with skylights and high windows for plenty of natural lighting. An overhead crane system, compressed air, ventilation, and space heaters typical of a commercial auto shop were evident. Numerous trades people were working on interior wall board, ceilings, roof and windows. Refer to attached photos. Quality of construction appeared to be good and building materials and design had an industrial look with enough texture and color to be esthetically pleasing. Standing metal seam roofs, masonry block and stucco exterior finishes should provide for a low maintenance and long life facility. Attendees also had an opportunity to view the multi-media production facility. The initial lift of masonry block was in place and trades people were installing conduits for the various systems that running under the floor slab. Refer to attached photos.
