Technical Specification Section TS Summary of Work is modified as indicated (underlined text) to clarify the qualifications of general and subcontractors for the project: 1.04 QUALITY ASSUANCE A. CONTACTO shall comply with the laws, ordinances, and rules of the OWNE and the State of Tennessee in every way. B. The Specifications are intended to include all requirements for completing abatement and demolition for the purposes specified; however, the CONTACTO shall be responsible for all details that may be necessary to properly abate, demolish and complete the project. The CONTACTO shall assume full responsibility for additional costs that may result from unauthorized deviations from Specifications. C. All bidders must be licensed contractors and must have a Building Construction classification (BC-b(sm)) with the following Specialty Environmental licenses: Asbestos Material Handling / emoving (S-A or S-Asbestos), Lead-Based Paint Abatement (S-C or S-Lead), Hazardous Waste emoval (S-D or S-Hazardous). Alternately, the prime contractor must be a licensed contractor and must have a Building Construction classification (BC-b(sm)) and their subcontractor mush have the following Specialty Environmental licenses: Asbestos Material Handling / emoving (S-A or S-Asbestos), Lead-Based Paint Abatement (S-C or S-Lead), Hazardous Waste emoval (S-D or S-Hazardous). FOLLOWING DEMOLITION OF THE BUILDING SUPESTUCTUE THE BASEMENT WALLS AND BASEMENT FLOO SHOULD EMAIN INTACT FO THE CONSTUCTION OF THE SOIL BUTTESS. THE BASEMENT SLAB SHALL BE BOOM CLEAN PIO TO CONSTUCTION OF THE SOIL BUTTESS. BEFOE COMMENCING CONSTUCTION OF THE SOIL BUTTESS THE CONTACTO SHALL POVIDE THEE DAYS NOTICE SO AS TO ALLOW THE ENGINEE TO OBSEVE THE CONDITION OF ALL THE BASEMENT WALLS AND FLOO SLAB AND VEIFY THEI CONDITION IS CONDUCIVE TO THE SOIL BUTTESS DESIGN. ONCE THE ENGINEE POVIDES WITTEN PEMISSION TO THE CONTACTO, THE CONTACTO MAY POCEED WITH CONSTUCTION OF THE BUTTESS. 2. FOLLOWING CONSTUCTION OF THE SOIL BUTTESS (SEE NOTES 4 AND 5) TO THE ETENT INDICATED, FO THE BASEMENT SLAB INDICATED FO EMOVAL SHOULD BE EMOVED.THE ENTIE DEMOLITION AEA SHOULD BE STIPPED OF NEA SUFACE SOILS, UNSUITABLE EISTING FILL, DEBIS, TASH, SUFACE DEBIS, AND OGANIC MATEIALS. THIS WILL INCLUDE EMNANTS OF PAST CONSTUCTION (POSSIBLY INCLUDING FOUNDATIONS SLABS [INDICATED FO DEMOLITION], AND ASSOCIATED UTILITIES). EISTING OOF DAINS SHALL BE CAPPED OUT PIO TO GADING OPEATIONS. ABANDONED UTILITIES SHOULD EITHE BE EMOVED AND THE ESULTANT ECAVATION FILLED WITH POPELY COMPACTED BACKFILL O THE PIPES/CONDUITS GOUTED IN PLACE. UTILITY ABANDONMENT SHALL BE COODINATED WITH UTILITY OWNES. 3. AFTE COMPLETION OF STIPPING, GUBBING AND ANY EQUIED ECAVATIONS TO EACH SUBGADE ELEVATIONS, THE SUBGADE SHALL BE OBSEVED BY AN S&ME GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEE, O QUALIFIED EPESENTATIVE, TO EVALUATE THE STABILITY OF THE NEA SUFACE SOILS FO THE EMAINING FILL PLACEMENT. AEAS JUDGED TO PEFOM UNSATISFACTOILY SHOULD BE EMEDIATED AT THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEE'S DIECTION. STUCTUAL SOIL FILL 4. MATEIAL CONSIDEED SUITABLE FO USE AS STUCTUAL SOIL FILL SHOULD BE CLEAN SOIL, FEE OF OGANICS, TASH, AND OTHE DELETEIOUS MATEIAL, AND CONTAINING NO OCK FAGMENTS GEATE THAN 6 INCHES IN ANY ONE DIMENSION. PEFEABLY, STUCTUAL SOIL FILL SHOULD HAVE A MAIMUM DY DENSITY OF 90 POUNDS PE CUBIC FOOT (PCF) O GEATE, A PI OF 30 PECENT O LESS, AND AN OGANIC CONTENT OF LESS THAN 5 PECENT. ALL MATEIAL TO BE USED AS STUCTUAL SOIL FILL SHOULD BE TESTED AND OBSEVED BY S&ME PESONNEL PIO TO PLACEMENT. 5. STUCTUAL SOIL FILL SHOULD BE PLACED IN LOOSE, HOIZONTAL LIFTS NOT ECEEDING 8 INCHES IN THICKNESS. SUBSEQUENT LIFTS SHOULD BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95 PECENT OF THE SOIL'S MAIMUM DY DENSITY PE ASTM D698 (STANDAD METHOD) AND WITHIN THE ANGE OF MINUS 3 PECENT TO PLUS 3 PECENT OF ITS OPTIMUM MOISTUE CONTENT. EACH LIFT SHOULD BE TESTED AND OBSEVED BY S&ME GEOTECHNICAL PESONNEL BEFOE PLACING ADDITIONAL LIFTS TO CONFIM THE CONTACTO'S METHOD IS CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING THE SPECIFIED COMPACTION AND STABILITY. IN ADDITION, ANY AEAS WHICH HAVE BECOME SOFT O FOZEN SHOULD BE EMOVED O EMEDIATED BEFOE ADDITIONAL STUCTUAL SOIL FILL IS PLACED. DEWATEING 6. IF GOUND WATE IS ENCOUNTEED DUING SITE GADING, TEMPOAY DEWATEING MEASUES MAY NEED TO BE IMPLEMENTED. A TEMPOAY DEWATEING SYSTEM THAT HAS PEFOMED ADEQUATELY ON PEVIOUS POJECTS WITH SIMILA CONDITIONS CONSISTS OF TEMPOAY ECAVATIONS AND SUMP PUMPS. PUMPING FOM THE SUMPS SHOULD BE CONTINUED WITHOUT INTEUPTION UNTIL FILL PLACEMENT IS COMPLETE. OTHE MEANS OF IMPOVING DAINAGE AT THE SITE MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH DAINAGE SWALES LOCATED AT SELECT AEAS.DISPOSAL OF DEWATEING SHALL BE COODINATED WITH THE CITY OF HAIMAN. AT A MINIMUM, DEWATEING WATE SHALL BE TEATED UNTIL IT DOES NOT PESENT AN UNACCEPTABLE COLO CONTAST WITH THE ECEIVING WATES (I.E., IN THE ECEIVING DITCH, STOM SEWE, ETC.) 7. PEMANENT FENCH DAIN/ DEWATEING PIPES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE FILL AS INDICATED IN THE DAWINGS. 1.
