1 Boong-yeol Ryoo, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Office: EC # 2945 Tel: (305) ryoob@fiu.edu Areas of Specialization: Information Strategy Planning (ISP), e- Business solutions: development and integration, CM/PM-Body of Knowledge, web-based Project Management Systems, Construction supply chain management, Dr. Ryoo is Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management at Florida International University. He holds a Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his B.S. degree from the Yonsei University in Korea. He has successfully completed a number of projects focused on e-business solutions for the construction industry. He has been a recipient of many government and industry awards in the field of Information Technology in construction. He has extensive experience working on developing e-commerce tools for both industrial and government projects. Dr. Ryoo s recently completed research includes the development of integrated engineering and construction management systems based on either intranet or Internet. His research interests include IT applications in construction, IT implementation planning, and technology transfer in construction. Particularly, he is actively involved in the development of construction management body of knowledge. He has worked on a variety of research projects related to the development of integrated project management systems for the construction industry and guide maps for systems implementation. He has completed numerous research and development projects in the area of enterprise resource planning systems, project management information systems, and supply chain management and in the design of B2B e-construction systems. His recent work includes the development of marketing and sales strategy of e-business solutions in the construction industry. Prior to his academic career at FIU, he has held visiting positions as Research Associate with Purdue University. He also worked in the industry as a CEO and R&D Director with the Intellix and Dmind Far East Korea in Korea where he was engaged in web-based system integration and engineering and construction management projects. He has taught more than 10 different courses in construction management and Information Technology. He is an author/co-author of about 12 technical publications and two books. 1
