Importance of Hygiene in Hospitals There are many hygienic issues that are of critical importance when it comes to hospitals. Bacterial and pathogenic growth and contamination is one of major importance. Dangerous infections can spread rapidly if the right preventative measures are not taken. BLÜCHER Rat Stop has a design feature where a section of pipe is expanded large enough to prevent rodents from using their legs and backs to climb up pipes. Another preventive measure is the material of the Stainless Steel. Rats can rapidly eat through plastic, HDPE and even Cast Iron pipes however they cannot eat through Stainless Steel. BLÜCHER Multi Water Trap is equipped with a special sealing ring which closes when not in use. So even if the trap dries out, unfriendly odours, insects and bacteria are prevented. The special sealing ring also prevents return of water from the sewage system or extreme rainfall. 2

3 PATIENT ROOMS Floor and shower drains BLÜCHER floor drains have been developed in a modular system providing numerous possible combinations for any type of flooring. The drains feature vertical or horizontal outlets from Ø32 mm to Ø110 mm and integrated side inlets. There is an option to include sheet or liquid membrane waterproofing flanges as well as vinyl. It is possible to adjust the drains by height and can be rotated and tilted to ensure a perfect fit in the installation. Waterline The BLÜCHER WaterLine Channel is the practical, professional choice for design and installation at railway and metro stations. The compact linear design eliminates installation issues and saves on both time and labor. There is a fitted water trap and the option of customized gratings. Standard lengths are 300, 700, 800, 900 and 1000 mm and we can customize up to 2000 mm. Suitable for tiled and vinyl floors. 3

BLÜCHER channels are designed with integrated fall and with center or end outlets. We have several standard widths and in lengths from 1 to 6 metres. We can also customize to any length required. The channels are suitable for concrete, tiled, vinyl and epoxy flooring and can be equipped with gratings for weight loads from 250 to 12,000 kg. Mesh gratings are a good supplement to kitchen channels, as they are lightweight and non-skid. The smooth Stainless Steel surfaces with no sharp edges make cleaning and keeping a high hygienic standard easy. Something that is essential in medical centres and hospitals. LABORATORY Gastight Drain Gastight Drains are a sealed air tight drain specifically designed for Laboratories. The drain has a screw lock or vacuum handle cover designed to isolate the laboratory from the hospital. This is important due to microbiological and chemical testing that occurs in the laboratory. 5 ROOF BLÜCHER Drain Roof - siphonic Roof Drains BLÜCHER has a complete stainless steel roof drainage system. The system can be used for all types of flat roofs with bitumen or single ply roof membrane, and it is equally suitable for gravity and vacuum or siphonic systems. The stainless steel roof drainage system is capable of resisting impacts and corrosion as well as fire. It requires minimal maintenance. The smooth inside surface of the stainless steel ensures excellent selfcleaning properties, high flow capacity and prevents blockages. BLÜCHER Drain Roof - gravity Outdoor Drains BLÜCHER outdoor drain consists of an adjustable upper part 200x200 with a perforated pipe in 110 or 160 mm. The upper part fits into the BLÜCHER roof drain lower parts for single-ply membrane and bitumen for gravity drainage systems. Through the perforated pipe between frame and lower part water is drained from the sand or gravel in which the drain is installed and into the lower part. 5

BLÜCHER EuroPipe is produced in a variety of dimensions from Ø40 mm to Ø315 mm in standard lengths ranging from 0.15 m up to 6 m and is complemented by a complete program of bends, branches and brackets. The low weight means that the pipes can be handled by one person and the push-fit system saves time in the installation process. This also saves cost in freight compared to much heavier alternative materials like cast iron. The smooth stainless steel surface allows for high flow capacity with minimum amount of maintenance. Accessories Fire Safety Fire resistance in hospitals is highly important. The main reason being there are large amounts of people that are difficult to evacuate for various reasons. BLÜCHER has develop ed fire proof water traps which reduce the risks of fire from spreading. These traps have a special cone full of foam which expands when exposed to high temperatures and thereby closing the drain and preventing the fire spreading. These fire proof water traps can replace existing standard removable water traps and are approved according to DIN 4102 part 11 in fire rating R120.
