Technically Certified; all of our structures are designed in accordance with the requirements of BS6399 the only British Standard that should be employed for any structure in place for over 28 days. This means that the building is engineered and calculated to exactly the same wind and snow loadings as a traditional building. Aesthetically pleasing, both inside and out. Environmentally responsible; all of our buildings can be redesigned, resized and relocated making them totally reusable. In addition, many of our structures have translucent membrane roofs and feature glass frontages allowing for maximum natural daylight and reducing the use of expensive electric lighting during daylight hours. 5 enhanced education environments From individual classrooms to whole schools, Useful Structures has the perfect solution to help enhance education. With two unique systems to choose from, a purpose-built highly attractive structural solution for your classroom, crèche, design technology facility, canteen or laboratory is only a matter of weeks away. The open, light space created by the Alpha system provides the perfect environment for children to learn and play, with outdoor cantilevered canopies providing cover to play areas. Beta structures are able to house the more practical and space hungry subjects, from traditional metal and woodwork, through to vocational courses in such subjects as bricklaying and engineering. Alpha for Education This patented system with distinctive architectural lines offers the flexibility and sophistication to meet a multitude of needs within the education environment; from canteen or nursery, to library, IT classroom and beyond. The Alpha system offers clear span space throughout with no ugly support columns, giving you complete freedom to plan and adapt the internal layout to your requirements. It can also offer a higher ceiling height than other systems ( 3.7m single storey or 7m two storey) eradicating the gloomy interiors that are so representative of many other instant space providers. In addition, large areas of floor to ceiling double glazing can be incorporated into layouts creating light, bright teaching and play areas with high levels of natural daylight. Whilst perfectly suited to remain in one place indefinitely, the Alpha building envelope has the added bonus of being fully relocatable and expandable and therefore largely future proof who knows what your requirements will be in 2, 5 or 10 years time? As the Alpha system does not need traditional foundations, an existing area such as a tarmac playground can be built over, with only the provision of concrete bases every 5 metres to anchor the building, representing a significant cost saving over traditional solutions. Despite its sophistication, Alpha is a fast solution in every respect; typically we commence build on site 4 to 6 weeks from confirmed order and hand over between 2 to 6 weeks later, depending on complexity of specification and size of project. Beta for Education With portal widths from 10 to 30 metres, lengths up to 100 metres and eave heights up to 6 metres, the Beta can house many of the more practical educational subjects and activities, as well as providing an ideal solution for the storage of maintenance and sports equipment. Available with or without insulation, these large clear span buildings can be quickly and easily erected without the need for traditional foundations, and compare favourably with the more traditional bricks and mortar buildings, often achieving major cost savings. The heavy duty membrane roofing system delivers near daylight conditions throughout the building, saving lighting costs and providing an ideal environment for teachers and students alike. Although perfectly suited to remain in one place indefinitely, as with all our other structures, the Beta building envelope has the added bonus of being fully relocatable and expandable and therefore able to meet your unknown future requirements be they for more space on your existing site or even to move your facility to a completely different site! 7 sports and leisure solutions Flexible building systems are available, each providing cost effective, practical solutions for your individual sports and leisure needs. Both systems provide robust, viable alternatives to traditional buildings with the added advantage of being both expandable and relocatable. As with our other buildings, there is no need for traditional foundations ensuring your sports and leisure facility is delivered cost effectively and quickly, often in as little as six weeks. If you re looking for the total solution from one source, we can provide heating, lighting and even changing and shower modules to provide the complete package. Alpha for Sports & Leisure If you are looking to build or add a sports hall to your facility, and height is an issue, the Alpha system cannot be beaten. The patented engineering of the roof structure enables the Alpha to achieve heights in excess of 12 metres! It also means your structure meets the official club, county, regional, national and even international official requirements for participation in many sports including badminton, basketball, 5-a-side football, indoor hockey, handball, netball, volleyball and tennis. The large clear spans and heights that the Alpha system can achieve make it not only an ideal structural solution for sports halls, but also extremely eye catching. Whilst perfectly suited to remain in one place indefinitely, because traditional foundations are not required, relocation is both cost effective and simple making the Alpha system a perfect solution where staged modernisation on one or many sites is in place. Beta for Sports & Leisure If a building with a 6 metre eave height is adequate for your sports and leisure requirements, the Beta system could be the solution you are looking for. With clear span widths of up to 30m and unlimited lengths, the Beta can make a fabulous purpose-built, cost effective building suitable for athletics club training, a stand-alone canopy for a Multi Use Games Area, an indoor 5-a-Side facility or local racket sports club. 8 Our new nursery building was installed quickly and efficiently by the Useful Structures team. The building is spacious and light and provides the ideal environment for our children to learn and play.
