1 GARDEN ROOF WITH THERMAL INSULATION TECHNICAL SPCIFICATIONS

2 1- FLAT ROOF INSULATION MATERIAL SPECIFICATION Definition of the Garden Roof Layers 1. Leveling Concrete 2. Primer (STOPER Astar or equivalent) 3. Polymer Modified Bitumen Membrane- (STOPER Membran or equivalent) 4. XPS Thermal Insulation Board (ROOFMATE SL or equivalent) 5. Filter Layer Thermally Bonded Geotextile - (DuPont TYPAR SF 27 or equivalent) 6. Drainage Gravel Layer 7. Earth and vegetation 1. Leveling Concrete: Repairing of the R.C slab and providing slope towards rainwater spouts with leveling concrete -Material, trasportation, workmanship and material losses included unit price: 2. Primer : Application of 400 gr/sq cold applied bitumen emulsion to the cleaned and dry surface (Stoper Astar or equivalent) 3. Polymer Modified Bitumen Membrane (Satisfying TS /Nisan 2002 requirements and have TSE Certificate) : Application of the first layer with 3 mm thick, polyester reinforced garden type root resistant, polymer modified bitumen membrane which has tensile strength at longitudinal / transverse min 800/600 N/5 cm, cold bending resistance 10 C with torch on to the bitumen primer with 10 cm overlap and application of the second layer of the same material to each other and to the first layer. Incase of using textured surface XPS boards; thermal conductivity, water absorption, freeze-thaw values do not satisfy the requirements of terrace roof applications. THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY (lambda):the value after aging 90 days at 10 ºC should not be bigger than W/mK DENSITY: It should be denser than 32 kg/m 3. Minimum value is 30 kg/m3 for the smooth surface boards according to TS 825, Appendix 5, Item COMPRESSION STRENTH: should be minimum 300 kpa. (TS EN 13164, CS(10/Y)300) DIN 4108 FLEXTURAL STRENGTH: It should be more than 110 kpa.( This is the maximum load value that the material can carry for 50 years permanently with 2 % deformation). The static load should be calculated as 110kPa and not 300 kpa. WATER ABSORBTION: Water absorption value in volume should not exceed 1 % (TS EN WL(T)0,7).Water absorption of thermal insulation material makes the thermal conductivity worse and affects the performance of the material in freeze-thaw cycling negatively. WATER ABSORPTION IN LONG TERM WITH DUFUSION: TS EN WD(V)3 FREEZE- THAW : Water absorption value in freeze thaw method should not exceed 0.3 % in volume. WD(V)3. The reduction in compressive strength after freeze thaw test should not exceed 6% (It is specified as 10% maximum in TS EN ). 2

4 WATER VAPOUR DIFFUSION RESISTANCE: should be between DEFORMATION UNDER COMPRESIVE LOAD AND THERMAL CONDITION: The deformation under specified compression load and thermal conditions should not exceed 2%. It is upper limit is specified as 5% in TS EN te DLT (2)5. FIRE RESISTANCE: B1 Class (TS EN 13164) CAPILLARITY: Should be 0. SURFACE PROPERTIES: Smooth. LENGTH, WIDTH, EDGE DISTORTION, SURFACE SMOOTHNESS, THICKNESS: It should be within TS EN tolerances. EDGE PROFILE: Tongue edge profile. 5. Filter Layer as Thermally Bonded Geotextile : Laying of geotextile used for flat roof insulation as separation and filter layer with 20 cm overlap Geotextile should be 150 gr/sq if needle punched. If it is non woven it should be 90 gr/sq. - Hydraulic properties (BS , 10 cm head): 165 l/m 2 s - Weight (EN 965): 90 g/m 2 - Mean Tensile Strength (EN ISO 10319): 5,1 kn/m - CBR Mean Puncture resistance (EN ISO 12236): 800 N - Mean Trapezoidal tearing strength (ASTM D4533): 190 N 6. Thin Gravel Layer : Laying of 3-5 cm thick gravel with O 4-8 mm or project specified size granule to provide the smoothness and effectiveness of the drainage. 8. Earth and Vegetation : Laying of earth and plantation as if specified in the project 3

5 9. Drainage Board : Drainage boards made out of High Density Polyethilen -HDPE can be used under earth if specified on the projct. The material laid with 20 cm overlap ( Blue s Protect or equivalent) This material is used as drainage and protection layer for inverted garden roofs and also protects water proofing material at basement walls. MATERIAL : HDPE High Density Polyethylene COLOR : Preferably Black. THICKNESS : 0.60 mm WEIGHT : Minimum 500g/m2. COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH : En az 200 kn/m2. 4
