GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: - BEARINGS SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE OR DISTORTION DURING HANDLING, TRANSPORTATION, STORAGE AND INSTALLATION AND KEPT CLEAN AND FREE OF ALL DELETERIOUS MATTER AND CONTAMINANTS INCLUDING MOISTURE AND DUST. - TEMPORARY ASSEMBLY DEVICES IF APPLICABLE ARE PROVIDED TO MAINTAIN CORRECT ORIENTATION OF THE PARTS DURING HANDLING, TRANSPORTATION, STORAGE AND INSTALLATION. THESE TEMPORARY DEVICES SHALL NOT BE USED FOR SLIDING OR SUSPENDING THE BEARINGS. - BEARINGS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROCEDURE APPROVED BY THE CONSULTANT, TOLERANCES OF INSTALLATION SPECIFIED BY LCL TO BE RESPECTED. BEARINGS WHICH HAVE BEEN PRE-ASSEMBLED SHALL NOT BE DISMANTLED, EXCEPT WITH WRITTEN APPROVAL OF LCL. - AFTER INSTALLATION, BEARINGS AND THEIR SURROUNDING AREA SHOULD BE LEFT CLEAN.. CARE SHALL BE TAKEN IN ORDER NOT TO OVERHEAT THE BEARING, IN PARTICULAR THE TEFLON AND RUBBER COMPONENTS. BEARING SURFACES SHALL BE PROTECTED AGAINST WELDING SPATTER. FOR WELDING, THE FOLLOWING NOTES SHALL BE CONSIDERED: A) WELDING PROCEDURES SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND APPROVED BY THE CONSULTANT; B) TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS SHALL BE TAKEN ON SITE DURING WELDING. INFORMATION SHALL BE KEPT ON FILE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE; C) TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TEFLON OR RUBBER COMPONENTS, TEMPERATURE OF THE PLATES IN CONTACT WITH RUBBER AND/OR TEFLON SHALL NOT EXCEED FORTY DEGREES CELSIUS (40 C) DURING WELDING. IF BEARING DOES NOT HAVE ANY TEFLON COMPONENT, TEMPERATURE OF THE PLATES IN CONTACT WITH RUBBER SHALL NOT EXCEED EIGHTY DEGREES CELSIUS (80 C). GENERAL NOTES. BEARINGS ARE DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BRIDGE DESIGN CODE, CAN/CSA-S6-4..
