2 SUMMARY OF FEATURES Cnsists f a range f flat hexagnal netting made frm galvanised mild steel wire. Acts as a supprt fr rfing underlay r synthetic rfing membranes. Heavy 150g/m2 galv cating delivers up t six times lnger life than light galv prduct. Supersized cre reduces wastage by up t 20%. (NB: Currently available in 75mm netting nly). Cnsistent appearance. Less sag. Twin edge wires run straight fr ease f twitching. Wire tensile strength is between 380 and 550 MPa. Galvanising cmplies with AS/NZS 4534: 2006 Class W10. Can be used with bth timber and steel framing. Kiwi made. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Prduct Descriptin Baynet cnsists f a range f wven flat hexagnal, galvanised mild steel netting fr use as a supprt fr building papers, rf underlays, aluminium fil insulatin and glasswl insulatin. Applicatins Baynet (75mm and 50mm mesh size) is fr use n timber and steel framing as a supprt fr rfing underlay s and building papers, under rf claddings and behind wall claddings. Where used in rfs, the hexagnal wire netting is used t prvide supprt fr building paper, rf underlay, aluminium fil insulatin r glasswl insulatin. Baynet (75mm and 50mm mesh size) can als be used behind wall claddings n buildings which cme within the scpe f NZS 3604: 1999 as prviding supprt t tw layers f building paper r rf underlay where used as a wind barrier. Prduct Infrmatin The size f wire netting t be used t supprt building paper, rf underlay, aluminium fil insulatin r glasswl insulatin in rf spaces is dependent n the span between the purlins r rf member supprts and the site cnditins. In all cases wire netting is nt be expsed t the elements fr mre than 7 days and spans must be limited t 2.0m maximum. 75mm mesh size shall be used when all f the fllwing cnditins apply, (in all ther cases 50mm mesh must be used): Wire netting will be expsed t the elements fr less than 3 days. The NZS 3604: 1999 wind zne is High r less, r fr specific design cases the Design Wind Speed as determined frm NZS 4203: 1992, must nt exceed 44mls. 3 Maximum rainfall is 1400mm/year. Maximum wire netting span is 1200mm. Where cnstructin circumstances present a high risk f damage e.g. where n-ging cnstructin abve may result in damage caused by falling debris, it is recmmended that the 50mm mesh size be used. A wind barrier (rigid r nn-rigid equivalent) may be cnstructed by using either a 75mm r 50mm Baynet backing supprt fr tw layers f building paper r rf underlay. Where this methd is used, the laps f each layer must be staggered, such that the lap centres f the first layer are n clser than 450mm frm the lap centres f the secnd layer. The need fr a wind barrier depends n the cladding type and the Wind Zne. The requirements are given in Clause and Clause f NZS 3604: 1999 and NZBC Acceptable Slutin E2/AS1, Paragraphs t Fr all applicatins including rfs t specific design, the rf cladding materials must cmply with Table 11.2 f NZS 3604: 1999 and wall claddings must meet the prvisins f Clause 11.5 f NZS 3604: Fr rf applicatins the netting must span acrss the purlins r acrss rafters depending n the requirements (see the Installatin Infrmatin sectin). Fr wall applicatins the netting may be run hrizntally r vertically but is best run hrizntally acrss wall framing. When Baynet is used as a supprt fr rfing underlay in rf spaces r as a supprt fr building paper r rf underlays in wall spaces in accrdance with the manufacturer s instructins cntained within this brchure, Baynet 75mm and 50mm mesh size will meet the perfrmance requirements f NZBC B2.3.1(a), 50 years r B2.3.1(b) 15 years as apprpriate and will have a serviceable life in excess f 50 years. A 50 year durability is required where used t supprt a building paper r rf underlay under cncrete r clay rf tiles. This durability pinin is cntingent upn the prducts being: Enclsed within the rf space r wall cavity Subject t a dry interir envirnment where the building paper r rfing underlay are subjected t ccasinal wetting nly and the rf and wall cladding are well maintained Nt expsed t a crrsive envirnment Nt expsed t relative humidity greater than 90% Nt expsed t the atmsphere fr mre than ne week befre cladding is installed Installed where air extractin r dehumidifying devices are nt vented int the rf space r wall cavity. Baynet, if used, installed and maintained in accrdance with the instructins and cnditins in this brchure, will meet the fllwing prvisins f the NZBC: Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Perfrmance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4 fr the relevant physical cnditins f B Clause B2 DURABILITY: Perfrmance B2.3.1(a), fr supprt f building paper r rfing underlay behind masnry r cncrete walls r under clay r cncrete rf tiles, nt less than 50 years. 4 Perfrmance B.2.3.1(b) fr supprt f building paper and rfing underlay s in rf and wall spaces which are easy t access r replace, nt less than 15 years. Handling & Strage Baynet must be handled with care t prevent damage t the netting. The rlls must be stred n end, under cver and prtected frm misture. They must nt be duble stacked r used t supprt ther materials. Baynet Hexagnal Wire Netting rlls must nt be stred n cncrete flrs fr lng perids, particularly where misture is present, as this can result in an accelerated crrsin f the galvanising. Technical Data Baynet Premium-6 Wire Netting cnsists f a range f hexagnal, 75mm and 50mm flat mesh, manufactured frm, 1.0mm diameter galvanised mild steel wire. The 75mm mesh is supplied in rlls 2000mm and 900mm wide in lengths f 50m and 25m. The 50mm mesh is supplied in rlls 2000mm, 1800mm, 1500mm, 1200mm and 900mm wide in lengths f 50m, 25m, 10m and 5m. The wire used t manufacture Baynet cnfrms t Class W10 f AS/NZS 4534: The wire has a tensile strength f between 350 and 550 MPa and the minimum mass f galvanised cating is 150g/m 2 fr the 1.0mm diameter wire. Installatin infrmatin Building Paper and Rf Underlay Supprt in Rf Spaces The wire netting must be run acrss rafters, truss chrds r acrss purlins, and be fixed in place. Where the building paper r rfing underlay is required t have a sag t facilitate drainage, e.g. under tile battens, the wire netting must als be laid with a sag t accmmdate the building paper. In all ther cases the wire netting must be pulled taut. Fixing t timber framing is with 25mm stainless steel staples, r 25mm galvanised cluts, and t steel framing with ht-dipped galvanised r stainless steel self-tapping screws which must be embedded at least 10mm int the steel framing. At wire netting ends, fixings must be at 150mm centres and must anchr the wire netting such that it cannt pull thrugh the fixings when laded between adjacent framing members. Elsewhere fi x the wire netting at edge wires and in the centre t each framing member it passes ver. Wire tie the side edges f Baynet tgether at 300mm centres, between rf framing fixings. Building Paper and Rf Underlay Supprt in Wall Spaces Where used in wall spaces t supprt building paper r rf underlay, Baynet Premium-6 Hexagnal Wire Netting may be run hrizntally r vertically acrss framing members. It is mst effective when run hrizntally acrss studs. Baynet Premium-6 Hexagnal Wire Netting must be pulled taut, fixed t framing and have its edges tied tgether as fr the rf space applicatin.
