1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS Carefully open the packaging, remove contents and lay out parts on a protective surface to avoid damage. Check package contents against the Supplied Parts List in the next page(s) to assure that all components were received undamaged. Do not use damaged or defective parts. Carefully read all instructions before attempting installation. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Install reinforcement with care. Please read these instructions before beginning this installation, and carefully follow all instructions contained herein. Use proper safety equipment and protocol during installation. Please consult Structural Components LLC for help if you: Don't understand these directions or have any doubts about the safety of the installation. Are uncertain or unfamiliar with the nature of the existing structure to be reinforced. For questions and consulting please call Structural Components at Ask for product support. Tools Required: Adjustbale Wrench up to 3.5" Width, Grinder w/cutting Wheel or Portable Band Saw, Tape Measure, Welder required if single-wire Anchor Head. 4 STEP 1 PRE-ASSEMBLE KNOCKDOWN ANCHOR KIT Assemble knockdown anchor kit as shown in Detail A. Verify 1/4" minimum thread stick out with measuring device as shown in Detail B. Tighten to Snug-Tight Condition. THREAD ROD 1/4" STICK OUT MINIMUM JAM NUT DETAIL B TYPICAL ANCHOR BLOCK CONFIGURATION DETAIL A ANCHOR BLOCK ASSEMBLY STEP EMBEDDING KNOCKDOWN ANCHOR INSIDE OF PROPOSED ANCHOR BLOCK Embed Anchor Block Assembly at rear, lower corner of the proposed reinforced concrete pad during pad installation. Refer to site-specific sealed engineering documents regarding orientation, size, location and rebar specifications for each new deadman anchor. 5 STEP 3 OPTIONAL - FILLING WITH CONCRETE OR GROUT Fill 6" PVC sleeve with concrete or non-shrink grout for additional corrosion protection of Anchor Rod. Verify the Anchor is centered in the PVC Sleeve prior to pouring concrete. Support the Anchor Rod above Grade to maintain centered position. Reccomend using a loose slurry of concrete or grout and/or a concrete vibrator when possible. GRADE LEVEL A A CONCRETE OR GROUT SECTION AA ANCHOR ROD DETAIL D TYPICAL EMBEDDED ANCHOR REINFORCED CONCRETE BLOCK PER ENGINEERING DRAWING STEP 4 INSTALLING ONTO ANCHOR ROD Insert Hex Nut and Washer into Anchor Head. Slide Anchor Head onto Threaded Rod. Spin Anchor Head onto Threaded Rod until 1/4" minimum thread stick out is achieved. See Detail F. 6 STEP 5 INSTALLING GUY WIRES / SHACKLES Refer to site-specific sealed engineering documents regarding configuration of the guy wires to the anchor head for each new anchor location. C L DETAIL G CONFIGURATION STEP 6 WELDING THE NUT TO THE ANCHOR ROD If only one guy wire is to be installed on fan plate, Hex Nut must be welded to Anchor Rod to prevent Anchor Head from spinning off of Anchor Rod. See engineering drawing for weld detail. DETAIL H WELD LOCATION ANCHOR ROD WELDING NOTES: CONTRACTOR TO ASSUME ALL LIABILITY OF DAMAGE TO TOWER AND TOWER FIXTURES. PRIOR TO WELDING, TEMPORARILY MOVE ANY TOWER FIXTURES THAT MAY BE DAMAGED BY HEAT/FLAME. PROPERLY SHIELD ANY TOWER FIXTURES THAT CANNOT BE MOVED PRIOR TO WELDING. REMOVE ALL GALVANIZING / PAINT FROM WELD AREAS PRIOR TO WELDING. WELD AS DETAILED. UPON COMPLETION OF WELDING PROCEDURES, COLD GALV. ALL EXPOSED SURFACES WITH MIN. () COATS 95% ZRC.
