EXTERIOR: 16 & 18 gage, 3 5/8 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch for exterior walls at 16 inches on center (refer Wall Sections for specific gage and attachment methods).!!!!! Furring, Ceiling Framing and Accessories: ASTM C645, design to accommodate spans and loads.! Fasteners: ASTM C514.! Anchorage to Substrate: Tie wire, nails, screws and other metal supports, of type and size to suit application; to rigidly secure materials in place. 2.03!! GYPSUM BOARD MATERIALS! Fire Rated Gypsum Board (typical throughout unless noted otherwise): ASTM C36; fire resistive type, UL rated; 5/8 inch thick, maximum permissible length; ends square cut, tapered edges. B. Moisture Resistant Gypsum Board: ASTM C630; 5/8 inch thick, maximum permissible length; ends square cut, tapered edges at all wet areas and restrooms. 2.03!! SHEATHING BOARD A. Exterior Sheathing (typical throughout unless noted otherwise): Dens Glass Gold Exterior Guard, 1/2 inch thickness. B. Exterior Sheathing at Rear Wall: Dens Glass Gold Fireguard Type X, 1/2 inch thickness. C. Exterior Back of Parapet & Sign Band: 1/2 inch Dri-Con (fire resistant) treated plywood. 2.04!! ACCESSORIES! Acoustical Sealant: Non-hardening, non-skinning, for use in conjunction with gypsum board;.! Corner Beads: Metal Gypsum Board Systems 2

3 ! Edge Trim: GA 201 and GA 216.! Joint Materials: ASTM C475; reinforcing tape, joint compound, adhesive, and water.! Textured Finish Materials: Latex based texturing material.! Fasteners: ASTM C1002, Type S12 and GA-216. PART 3!EXECUTION 3.01!! EXAMINATION! Verify site conditions under provisions of Section ! Verify that site conditions are ready to receive work and opening dimensions are as instructed by the manufacturer.! 3.02!! METAL STUD INSTALLATION! Install studs in accordance with ASTM C754.! Metal Stud Spacing: 16 inches on center unless noted otherwise.! Refer to Drawings for indication of partitions extending to finished ceiling only and for partitions extending through the ceiling to the structure above. Maintain clearance under structural building members to avoid deflection transfer to studs. Provide extended leg ceiling runners.! Door Opening Framing: Install double studs at door frame jambs. Install stud tracks on each side of opening, at frame head height, and between studs and adjacent studs.! Blocking: Nail wood blocking to studs. Install blocking for support of plumbing fixtures, toilet partitions, wall cabinets, toilet accessories, hardware and Owner furnished equipment and millwork. 3.03!! CEILING FRAMING INSTALLATION! Install in accordance with ASTM C754.! Coordinate location of hangers with other work.! Install ceiling framing independent of walls, columns, and above ceiling work.! Reinforce openings in ceiling suspension system that interrupt main carrying channels or furring channels, with lateral channel bracing. Extend bracing minimum 24 inches past each end of openings.! Laterally brace entire suspension system. 3.04!! ACOUSTICAL ACCESSORIES INSTALLATION Gypsum Board Systems 3

4 ! Install resilient channels at maximum 16 inches on center. Locate joints over framing members.! Place acoustical insulation in partitions tight within spaces, around cut openings, behind and around electrical and mechanical items within or behind partitions, and tight to items passing through partitions.! Install acoustical sealant at gypsum board perimeter at: 1.! Metal Framing: One beads. 2.! Base Layer. 4.! Calk all penetrations of partitions by conduit, pipe, duct work, and rough-in boxes. 3.05!! GYPSUM BOARD INSTALLATION G.! H.! I.! J.!! Install gypsum board in accordance with GA-201.! Erect single layer standard gypsum board in horizontal direction with ends and edges occurring over firm bearing.! Erect single layer fire rated gypsum board vertically, with edges and ends occurring over firm bearing.! Erect exterior gypsum sheathing horizontally, with edges butted tight and ends occurring over firm bearing.! Use screws when fastening gypsum board to metal furring or framing.! Double Layer Applications: Use fire rated gypsum backing board for fire rated partitions.! Place second layer perpendicular to first layer. Offset joints of second layer from joints of first layer.! Treat cut edges and holes in [moisture resistant gypsum board with sealant.! Place corner beads at external corners. Use longest practical length. Place edge trim where gypsum board abuts dissimilar materials.! Place control joints at 30 feet on center maximum span. 3.06! JOINT TREATMENT A. Tape, fill, and sand exposed joints, edges, and corners to produce smooth surface ready to receive finishes. Feather coats onto adjoining surfaces so that camber is maximum 1/32 inch. Tape joints and corners of cementitious backing board. 3.07!! TEXTURE FINISH! Roller apply finish texture coating in accordance with manufacturerʼs instructions. 3.08!! TOLERANCES Gypsum Board Systems 4
