Protocol TAS 201,202, 203 (Miami-Dade) E. ANSI/SMA TESTING AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Test Units 1. SECURITY SHIELD Level 1 & 2 units Test shall meet or exceed the criteria set forth by ANSI/SMA 2 SECURITY SHIELD Level 3, 4, 5 & 6 Tests unless otherwise noted shall conform to the impact, static, and cyclical test as set forth by the Dade County Building Code Compliance Office Protocols TAS-201, 202, and 203 for SECURITY SHIELD Level 3 and above. B. Test Procedures and Performance - 1. Window barriers shall conform to criteria for conducting impact, static and cyclic tests as required by Sections 2315 and of the South Florida Building Code and Protocol TAS 201, 202, and Impact Test TAS 201. a. Missile impact barrier with a solid S43 nominal 2 x 4, #2 surface dry, Southern Pine of not less than 7 ft. in length and 9 lbs. in weight at a velocity of not less than 50 ft/sec without specimen failure. (Level 3)

2 2 b. Missile impact barrier with a solid S43 nominal 2 x 4, #2 surface dry, Southern Pine of not less than 7ft. in length and 9 lbs. In weight at a velocity of not Less than 80 ft./sec without specimen failure. (Level 4) c. Missile impact barrier/shutter with a nominal 2 x 4 of not less than 15 lbs. In weight a velocity of not less than 80 ft./sec ( Levels 5 & 6 pertains to stainless perforated barrier material listed in section 2.01.C2) Essential facilities protection specification. 3. Uniform Static Air Pressure Test - TAS 202 a. Apply one-half full test load and full test load for 30 seconds at P-Max both inward and outward with out failure. b. Specified design pressure (DP) should not be less than 120 PSF, unless noted. 4. Cyclic Wind Pressure Loading Test - TAS 203 a. Apply loads to the specimen using the cycles specified in Section Table 23F and/or 2315 Table 1 of the South Florida Building Code without failure. b. Specified design pressure (DP) should not be less than 120 PSF, except where noted. B. 24 Hour Protection 1. Units must provide security protection as well as approved protection from wind. 2. Security and Hurricane protection must be in place 24 hours per day. Product will not be accepted if it has to be put in place, rolled down, or in any way prepared in the event of an emergency. C. Emergency Egress 1. Units so designated must have emergency egress option. Emergency egress option must use EAP model #.25SS latch, or EAP model #100 Panic Release Latch, positive engagement. Option may be automatically operated in accord with existing window action if required. (Levels 2 and above) 2. Units so designated must meet egress requirements set forth by NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) 101 B. D. Sun Control 1. The window barrier system to have a shading coefficient of The window barrier system will have the ability to reduce solar heat gain by an estimated 50%. 3. The above requirements must be certified by an approved independent solar testing facility.

3 3 E. E.M.I. Shielding Effectiveness 1. The shutter system to have a shielding effectiveness per the Dash, Straus & Goodhue study. 2. The shutter system shall have a shielding effectiveness of a least 93.69% attenuation effectiveness, when a tightly sealed electrical contact is made. 3. The shutter system shall have a shielding effectiveness of 24dB attenuation effectiveness, when a tight electrical seal is made QUALITY ASSURANCE A. All components must be assembled / manufactured at an ISO certified facility SUBMITTALS A. Shop Drawings 1. Manufacturer shall supply completed shop drawings, location, diagrams and necessary details and erection notes to insure a proper installation. B. Samples 1. Submit samples of each required aluminum and steel finishes. 2. Submit additional samples as may be directed by the architect. C. Test Reports 1. Provide certified independent laboratory test reports verifying compliance with requirements in Section DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Handle and store shutters and accessories in strict compliance with the manufacturer s specific instructions WARRANTIES A. Security Window Barriers 1. Materials for the above project will be free from factory defects in materials and workmanship for a three (3) year limited warranty. 2. The contractor shall assume the full responsibility for one year on the proper usage, design, handling, installation and anchorage as it relates to the structural attachment as outlined on the approved shop drawings and specifications.

4 4 PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.01 Materials A. Acceptable Security Screen Window Manufacturers EXETER ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS INC. Series Security Shield 243 W. Eighth Street Wyoming PA or Fax: B. Aluminum 1. Extruded aluminum shall be 6063-T5 alloy and temper. 2. Nominal wall thickness for primary frame extrusions shall be a minimum of Frame profile shall be thin, not exceeding a maximum frame width of 1.375, to preserve architectural integrity of building and window openings. C. Steel / Infill 1. Galvanealed steel sheet shall be of 950 XK Structural Steel. Mill finish quality, domestic quality. Material certification required. 2. Stainless Steel sheet shall be 304-2b Prime conforming to ASTM-A Perforated metal sheet shall be of not less than 16 gauge (Levels 1 & 2) and 14 gauge (Levels 3 through 6) galvanealed or stainless steel sheet. 4. Perforated pattern shall be InvisiPerf#1 or TXL 22 (Level 1) InvisiPerf #2 or TXL-23 Levels 2 through 6). Perforated sheet barrier pattern shall consist of staggered round holes, not to exceed 3/16 in diameter. Straight line hole patterns shall not be accepted. 5. Hole burrs on underside shall be minimal and not exceed.006 to maintain smoothness of sheet. 6. Perforated metal sheet shall have not less than 63% (Level 1) and 51% (all other levels) open air. 7. Stainless steel wire cloth shall be 12 x 12 mesh.028 diameter wire. D. Hardware 1. Security latch system shall be Security Egress Options Model #EAP-25SS DM-25or EAP model #100 Panic Release Latch. 2. Security latch system shall be single point release. E. Anchors and Anchor Fasteners 1. Concealed and non-concealed anchors and anchor fasteners may be of aluminum, stainless steel (300 series type), cadmium, zinc, nickel plated steel, brass and hot dipped galvanized. Non-treated corrosive fasteners are strictly prohibited.

5 5 F. Security Beads 1. The security glazing bead for perforated barrier shall be of finished.080 extruded aluminum not less than 1 in width, running the full perimeter of the inside master frame. 2. Extrusions must be double hollow configuration and must be 6063-T5. 3. Glazing legs shall be mechanically fastened with #10 self tapping fasteners, 5/8 in length, vertically and horizontally on 6 centers and be concealed for service maintenance only. G. Optional Bug Screen x 16 Fiberglass Mesh Bug Screen installed at customer request. 2 Must be pulled tight to perforated metal infill to prevent damage, rips, tears, etc to the bug screen. 3. Secured with.187 spline. 4. Installed by manufacturer or in the field by installer using a Screen Spline Installation Tool FABRICATION A. General 1. Depth of frame shall not be less than Horizontal and vertical site lines shall be equal and not exceed 2. B. Frame 1. Frame joints shall be neatly mitered to form a hairline joint. Corners shall be reinforced with a solid.062 extruded 3/4 x 3/4 x 1 minimum aluminum corner key and welded to afford maximum rigidity. Mechanical crimping, gluing or cold welding shall not be permitted. C. Finish - Aluminum (Select Organic or Anodic) 1. ORGANIC - Finish all exposed areas of aluminum framing and components in accordance with AAMA or DESIGNATION DESCRIPTION AAMA SPEC AA-M12-C41-RIX Polycron III AA-M12-C41-RIX Kynar Based *Color to be selected by architect. 2. ANODIC - Finish all exposed areas of aluminum framing and components in accordance with AAMA DESIGNATION CLASS DESCRIPTION AAMA SPEC AA-M12-C22-A41 I Clear Anodized D. Finish - Perforated Galvanealed Steel Sheet 1. Primary finish to mill steel sheet shall be a heat treated galvanealed A40 prime coating without spangles. 2. Finish coat shall consist of weather resistant high performance electrostatic applied coating from 2.5 to 3.4 mills and baked to a smooth finish.

7 7 PART 3: EXECUTION 3.01 INSPECTION A. Job Conditions 1. Verify that openings are dimensionally within allowable tolerances, plumb, level and clean. Provide a solid anchoring surface in accordance with approved shop drawing INSTALLATION A. Use only skilled tradesmen with work done in accordance with approved shop drawing and specifications. B. Plumb and align shutters in a single plane for each wall frame and erect shutters and material square and true, adequately anchored to maintain positions permanently when subjected to normal thermal and building movement and specified wind loads.
