1 Page 1 PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General Conditions Specification Sections, apply to this section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. The shade structure contractor shall be responsible for the design, engineering, fabrication, supply and installation of the work specified herein. The intent of this specification is to have only one contractor be responsible for the above functions as a design build project SUBMITTALS With Bid Submittals: A. Provide proof of installed reference sites with structures for similar scope of project and installation that are engineered to IBC 2006 specifications. Include in reference list of structure dimension with install dates and project locations. B. Provide fabric samples to demonstrate fabric color range and paint color selections Award of Contract Submittals: A. Provide wet sealed structural engineering drawings and calculations as deferred submittal for approval by Construction Manager. B. This is a deferred submittal. All submittals shall be in accordance to the General and Special Conditions. C. Provide fabric samples and powder coat colors for final order selection. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE Fabrication and erection are limited to firms with proven experience in design and construction of fabric shade structures; such firms shall meet the following minimum requirements: A. A single contractor must design engineer, manufacture the steel and fabric and erect the fabric shade structures including foundations. B. All bidders must have at least ten (10) years experience in the design, engineering, manufacture, and installation of structures, engineered to currently adopted International Building Code requirements with similar scope and a successful construction record of inservice performance and erection of permanent fabric structures under the same name. C. The Contractor shall demonstrate that it has a staff of experienced fabric structure installation personnel who will undertake the installation of each project. D. The Contractor shall submit a Corporate Quality Control Manual describing their complete quality assurance program.

2 Page 2 E. All bidders shall be able to provide proof with bid submittal of a minimum of $2,000,000 general/public liability insurance. F. All bidders must have an in-house warranty & service department and local office to assist in repairs and service calls. 1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Field Measurements: Verify layout information for shade structures shown on the Drawings in relation to the property survey and existing structures, and verify locations by field measurements prior to construction. 1.6 WARRANTY 1. The successful bidder shall provide a 12 month warranty on all labor and materials. 2. A supplemental warranty from the manufacturer shall be provided for a period of 10 years on fabric and 10 years on the structural integrity of the steel from date of substantial completion. 3. The warranty shall not deprive the Owner of other rights the Owner may have under the provisions of the Contract Documents and will be in addition to and run concurrent with other warranties made by the Contractor under requirements of the Contract Documents. 4. Because of surety requirements, any performance and payment bond that may be required will cover only the first year of the warranty. The manufacturer s warranty will be a separate document between Total Shade LLC dba Killer Shade and the Owner, and will be executed at the time of completion of work. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL Pre-Engineered Package: the proposed structure(s) manufactured or approved equal shall be modular and pre-fabricated, and include the structural steel frame, fabric roof, steel cables, all fasteners, and installation of structure(s) including foundations. A. The structures shall be manufactured by Total Shade LLC dba Killer Shade or approved equal and include engineering drawings and calculations, patterning and fabrication of architectural membrane, structural steel frame, architectural hdpe membrane roof, steel cables, all fasteners, and installation of structure(s) including foundations. The shade structure shall conform to the current adopted version of the International Building Code 2006 including local agency amendments and additions to the code. D. All shade structures shall be engineered and designed to meet a minimum 90 mph wind load Exposure C

3 Page 3 All shade structures shall be engineered with a zero wind pass through on the fabric. 5 psf snow load 5 psf live load E. Welding: 1. All shop welded connections of the shade structure shall be designed and performed in strict accordance with the requirements of the American Welding Society (AWS) Specifications. Structural welds shall be made in compliance with the requirements of the Prequalified welded joints where applicable and by certified welders. No onsite or field welding shall be permitted. F. Tension Cable: Steel cable is determined based on calculated engineering load. G. Fabric Roof Systems: 1. UV Shade Fabric: a. UV Shade fabric is made of a UV stabilized high-density polyethylene. Mesh shall be Rachel knitted with monofilament and tape yarn filler to ensure that material will not unravel if cut. Panels to be 10ft wide. b. Fabric shall meet the following fire resistance tests: 1) ASTM E84 2) NFPA (Weathered of unweathered) 2. Size/Form: See site plan and construction details for size requirements for each structure. See site plan for layout. 3. Stitching & Thread: a. All sewing threads are to be double stitched. b. Thread shall be GORE Tenara Sewing Thread manufactured from 100% expanded PTFE; mildew resistant exterior approved thread. Thread shall meet or exceed the following: 1) Flexible temperature range 2) Very low shrinkage factor 3) Extremely high strength, durable in outdoor climates 4) Resists flex and abrasion of fabric 5) Unaffected by cleaning agents; acid rain, mildew, salt water and rot resistant, unaffected by most industrial pollutants 6) Treated for prolonged exposure to the sun 4. Fabric colors shall be determined from the standard colors available from the manufacturer by the Construction Manager. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Installations of shade structures and demolition of the existing structure shall be performed by a State of AZ licensed and bonded contractor. B. Concrete:

4 Page 4 1. Concrete work shall be executed in accordance with the latest edition of American Concrete Building Code ACI 318.

5 Page 5 2. Concrete specifications shall comply in accordance with the section , and detailed as per plans, shall be as follows: a. 28 Days Strength F c = 2500 psi b. Aggregate: HR c. Slump: 3-5 d. Portland Cement shall conform to C-150 e. Aggregate shall conform to ASTM C Reinforcing steel shall be detailed, fabricated, and placed in accordance with the latest ACI Detailing Manual and Manual of Standard Practice. 4. Whenever daily ambient temperatures are below 80 degrees Fahrenheit, the contractor may have mix accelerators and hot water added at the batch plant (See Table 1). 5. The contractor shall not pour any concrete when daily ambient temperature is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. All Anchor Bolts set in new concrete shall be ASTM A All Anchor Bolts shall be Hot Dipped Galvanized. 3.
