8 The Pilecoat System provides a cost effective method of coating piling in the splash zone, above the waterline, at docks, or commercial and industrial structures. The Pilecoat System has been developed to provide superior protection to an array of various materials subjected to harsh marine and industrial environments in a cost effective manner. Applications include all piling types, storage tanks, secondary containments, and walkways. This procedure provides for minor structural repair to the facility prior to application. 10 Perma-Pile Corrosion Control Pilecap s answer to the age old problem of pile corrosion and deterioration in the splash zone area... The major problem has always been that after installing a new pile it immediately starts to deteriorate. This happens because of small scrapes and cracks in the previously applied coating which continues to increase in size due to the outside environmental attack upon the base metal to make the pile. Underwater coatings are only a temporary patch and over a short period of time they fail because of impossible surface preparation and environmental attack. Pile wrap systems have always been used with limited to moderate success. Eventually the outer sleeves that are designed to secure and protect the corrosion resistant tape fail. The tape is not designed to withstand the splash zone environment, on its own it quickly deteriorates. It requires a tough permanent cover. This is where Perma-Pile comes in. Utilizing Pilecap s patented structural friction coupler technology, Perma-Pile is designed to protect the tape wrap in every environment. Perma-Pile is designed especially for protection against hydraulic activity, ice build up, debris, and salt water. Perma-Pile uses a quarter-inch steel jacket that can be engineered for any size or shape including H-Piles, then pre-coated with Pilecaps proprietary coating system.
