Division St. Room B-3 Salisbury, MD Ph Fax Addendum # 1 Perdue Stadium Seating Bowl Improvements Date of Addendum: 09/07/16 NOTICE TO ALL BIDDERS AND PLANHOLDERS The Bid Documents for the above-referenced Project are modified as set forth in this Addendum. The original Bid Documents and any previously issued addenda remain in full force and effect, except as modified by this Addendum, which is hereby made part of the Bid Documents. Vendors will take this Addendum into consideration when preparing and submitting a bid, and shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided in the Bid Documents. BID SUBMITTAL DEADLINE The bid submittal time has not been changed. 1.0 ATTACHMENTS Item Description 1.1 Attached is a Revised BID FORM with additional line and unit items added per this Addendum. 2.0 CLARIFICATIONS The following clarifications are provided as a matter of information to clarify issues raised about the Bid Documents. Item Description 2.1 Surface preparation of the stainless steel flashing in Detail S10 on A4 shall be in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations. 2.2 The waterproofing/roofing in the Hardball Café shall extend up the face of the wall and across the top of the concrete wall cap horizontal surface. 2.3 The deck coating on the Hardball Café floor shall be removed and surface prepared prior to applying waterproofing. 2.4 The CMU walls surrounding the Hardball Café shall be cleaned, all joints re-pointed and caulked where deteriorated and the wall painted in accordance with the painting specifications. 2.5 A line item shall be provided on the Bid Form for Cleaning and painting steel bar joist extended ends and pour stop, located in the area of Detail S19 on A4, for the length of the seating bowl. 2.6 A unit price shall be provided on the Bid Form for Replacement of horizontal seating bowl joint sealants, per Lineal Foot. 2.7 A unit price shall be provided on the Bid Form for Cleaning and painting steel column at ground level, per Each. 2.8 A unit price shall be provided on the Bid Form for Cleaning and painting steel beam at ground level, per Lineal Foot. 2.9 A unit price shall be provided on the Bid Form for Cleaning and painting steel bar joist at ground level, per lineal foot The County will be responsible for removing the seating and filling holes prior to the Contractor arriving on site.
2 3.0 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following questions and answers are provided as a matter of information to clarify issues raised about the Bid Documents. Item Questions and Answers Q. There is currently a bird deterrent system on the beams of the 2 nd floor soffit. I believe it is a gel installed by a pest control company. This soffit (and associated piping, conduit, ETC) it to be prepped and painted. In doing so, will the system be disturbed? Who is responsible for reinstallation of the bird deterrent? A. The County will replace the bird defense system after painting is complete. Q. Where is the termination line of work for the 2 nd floor soffit coating? A2 shows it solely below the seating above, however the soffit extends down the main entry/exit stairs in the middle of the stadium. Is this area to be included? A. The second floor soffit coating shall extend down the main entry/exit stairs in the middle of the stadium. Q. Some of the steel pans in the soffits are in poor condition. The soffits will be blasted to remove corrosion. It is possible that parts of the pan will deteriorate completely. Though they are not a structural component, aesthetics may be diminished if sections have holes. Please advise if a SF price for steel decking replacement is wanted. A. Please include a SF price to Replace steel form decking, below balcony seating. Q. Are the existing columns that extend from the 2 nd floor to the 3 rd floor to be prepped and painted? If so, is there a detail for where the column meets the existing cementitious deck coating? Some columns are rusted at the bases where they tie into the existing coating. A. The columns that extend from the 2 nd floor to the 3 rd floor shall also be painted. Q. Detail S19 on A4 shows the new coating extending over the caulk joint onto the existing coating. Please confirm whether you would like a keyway here to properly terminate the coating. Also, please confirm the compatibility of the products. A. Detail S19 on A4 shall include a sawcut keyway to terminate coating on the deck. Keyway shall be cut along the steel pour stop. Q. Section High Performance Coatings 1.1A.1.b. references New Steel. Please advise of the locations and types of new steel. A. There is no new steel to be coated. Q. Hardball Café- Please advise if the existing coating is to be removed. A. See above Clarification 2.3. Q. The existing stainless steel flashing at the Hardball Café is to remain in place. Can you confirm the following: a. That it is serving a purpose as it is caulking above and below and that it is not forcing water into the concrete deck. A. Should not be the case. b. That the new coating will adhere to the stainless and flex with the expansion and contraction of the metal. A. Expansion is not anticipated as it is restrained. c. The detail of the new coating system will wrap up and over the parapet wall. A. See above Clarification 2.2. d. The parapet wall in this area is to be caulked and repainted. A. See above Clarification 2.4. Q. Sealant is the seating bowl is mildewed and debonded in areas. Would you like a unit price for replacement of said sealant? If so, what sealant? A. See above clarification 2.6. Q. G1 on A3 states to repair and repoint existing CMU wall, replace units as required and paint concrete cap and repaired CMU. To clarify, only CMU that has been repaired is to be coated? Or is all CMU to be coated at the seating bowl/hardball café area? A. Only CMU that has been repaired is to be coated. Q. The following details are on the drawings A3/A4, however they are not on A1/A2. Please advise of their locals? a. (G8) A. Detail G8 on A3 is typical for concrete cap corners. b. (K19) A. Detail K19 on A4 is typical for all picnic deck railings. 2
3 3.12 Q. Please advise on the limitations of the infill railings. Are they to be at every level and railing in the picnic area? A. Infill railings are to be installed at every level and every railing in the picnic area. Q. Is the chain link fence in the picnic area remaining? I did not see any notes regarding this, 3.13 however it does not meet code either. A. Chain link fence in Picnic Area is to remain. County to address this separately. Q. During the pre-bid we walked over to the birthday party area where the carousal is. There was a discussion of the white railing in that area, however nothing is shown on the plans. Will 3.14 something be added to the scope for that work? A. County to address this separately. Q. The existing handrail is galvanized steel and then painted, which has resulted in paint failure What type of steel is the new railing to be? A. New railings shall be painted steel. Q. Are the railings considered new steel based upon the high performance coatings spec? If so, is 3.16 the intent for them to be brush blasted per the spec? A. Paint railings per the Note 5 on A3. Q. Will the beam under the stadium be added to the bid? If so, please provide a specification. Also 3.17 will there be a unit price for columns under the stadium. A. See above Clarifications.
