5 Miami-Dade County // Certified Waterproofing System Production has gradually diversified and developed thanks to the introduction of innovative products. A range of products for special applications and a range of high-tech products have been added to a range of ëstandardí products. Today the variety of membrane types makes it possible to waterproof in any aspect of construction. Knowledge of the inherent characteristics of each product and the interaction between the various components allow a technical office to provide solutions to waterproofing problems in the most varied systems. In 1997, the systemís total quality excellence involving every aspect of the product, from design to distribution, earned Pluvitec its ISO 9001 certification. Since 2005, for the companyís commitment to the efforts made in adapting to the standards to respect the environment, Pluvitec was certified according to ISO environmental standards. Established in 1988, Pluvitec is managed and directed by its members, who draw on their experience, intuition and entrepreneurial skills, laying the foundations for great success in the field of waterproofing. With the help of talented collaborators, expansion of the wealth of technical information, technology and investments in innovation and research, the companys original idea soon became a real industry with few national and international equals in the field of waterproofing membranes. In addition, in 2012, Pluvitec earned the prestigious BS OHSAS certification which establishes the requirements for a management system to protect the Health and Safety of workers, which ensures compliance with the law and continuous improvement as far as health and safety in the work place are concerned. These certifications of quality can be added to the large number of certificates of technical competence earned by Pluvitec waterproofing membranes. Issued by the leading Italian and foreign institutions, they guarantee the properties of the different products and their best use. Pluvitec has always been involved with large-scale roofing throughout the world, wherever new solutions to waterproofing in construction are sought. 16 Waterproofing membrane Modified APP waterproofing membrane MAXITEC Technical data sheet Description Pre-fabricated waterproofing membrane made of distilled bitumen and elastoplastic polymers (APP) having a woven non woven single strand composite polyester reinforcement, which provide the membrane with high mechanical characteristics and excellent dimensional stability. The versions PA are self-protected on the upper face with mineral slates which reduce superficial heat absorption improving the durability of the membrane. The self-protected versions have a side selvedge of 4 and upon request a head selvedge of 6, to improve adhesion between the sheets. Methods of application For the application of the membrane the use of heat is generally used by means of a gas torch or specific hot air machine. Use protective devices required by law. The application by heat is not suggested when on heat sensitive materials (polystyrene insulation). Coordinate the operations in a way to not cause damage to the construction elements and underground structure. Avoid to leave the structure for the night or for periods of prolonged work interruptions without having been properly sealed. The application surface must not have depressions, to avoid the ponding of rain water and must have a sufficient slope to guarantee a regular run off of rain. Normally this is obtained with a slope of 1.5%. The water drainage spouts should be sufficiently big enough to allow for rain water to be eliminated in an efficient way. Prepare cementitious substrates, including verticals and details, with a bituminous primer either by brush or airless, approx. 0.5 gallon per 100 square foot. Stratigraphy 1. PE film 2. Waterproofing mass 3. Single strand composite polyester fabric Waterproofing mass 5a. Sand finish 5b. Mineral finish Allow this preparation layer to dry before proceeding with any other operation. With prefabricated constructions, apply a suitable reinforcing strip along all joints. In the presence of construction joints, prefabricated panels or metal decks, suitable expansion joints are to be considered. The membranes must be applied to the substrate fully bonded. In any case, when in the proximity of the head laps, the membrane must be applied for at least 39 ⅜; furthermore all details, perimeters, verticals, change of slope as well as projecting area must be fully bonded. For further information and news it is recommended to consult the PLUVITEC technical literature; our Technical Office is always available to evaluate particular problems and to provide the necessary assistance to best apply our waterproofing membranes. 4 5b 5a 16 The waterproofing membrane based on distilled bitumen and polymers, as shown in this data sheet does not contain dangerous substances. The information data sheet for the proper use of products is available.

17 How to apply MAXITEC Application On cementitious surfaces and similar apply, by roller or airless, bituminous primer. Apply by torch application a 10 strip of membrane reinforced with polyester along all vertical up stands. To have all overlaps with the slope, position the membrane always starting from the lowest point. (Draw. N.1) Position the membrane sheets staggered, avoiding to create any overlaps against the slope and the drains. (Draw. N.2) Cut the corners of membrane sheet which will be laid under the next sheet at a 45 angle (4 x 4 ). (Draw. N.3) The joints, both side and head, must be respectively overlapped by 4 & 6. (Draw. N.3) The second layer of membrane will be applied astride and over the first one, always in the same direction, and approx. 1/4 of its length from the previous sheet. (Draw. N.4) The bituminous membrane will be applied with a propane gas torch to the substrate. It is necessary to heat the entire surface, except for the side & head laps, making sure that the compound forms a liquid mass in front of the roll to assure that it saturates any superficial porosity. The side laps (4 ) and head laps (6 ) will be heat welded with an appropriate torch; during this stage the overlaps should be pressed by using a roller (35 lb) from which a bead of compound should flow and therefore avoiding to have to iron the overlaps. Apply the vertical membrane sheet having the same characteristics of the waterproofing membrane and dimensions equal to the width of the roll, making sure that it overlaps the horizontal one by at least 4, heating it with a gas torch and squeezing it with a trowel until a bead of compound appears from underneath. The height of the verticals must be equivalent or superior to the finished surface by at least 6. Recommendations To best use the technical characteristics of bituminous membranes and guarantee the maximum performance and durability of the jobs where they are used, some simple but fundamental rules must be respected. The rolls are to be stored in an upright position, preferably indoors in a dry and ventilated area, away from heat sources and avoiding to stack them one on top of the other to avoid possible deformations which may compromise the application. When storing with original packaging, these should not be stacked more than two plts high using appropriate wooden spacers. The rolls shall be kept in a warm or heated storage area during application, should the workability of the material deteriorate or become stiff and difficult to install during application, these should be returned to the heated storage area and substituted with new rolls. The rolls that are temporarily stored on the roof before application, shall be kept elevated by being left on their own pallets and shall be covered and protected from the weather. The application surface must be smooth dry & clean. The application surface must be previously treated with a suitable bituminous primer, to eliminate dust and enhance the adhesion of the membrane. The application surface must not have any depressions, to avoid water ponding, and must have a slope which is sufficient enough to guarantee the run off of rain water (min. 1.5 %). In situations of application on vertical surfaces superior to 2 meters or on very sloped substrates, apply suitable mechanical fixings to the head laps, after which they will be sealed when torching the head laps. The application must be done at temperature higher than + 41 F. The application must be interrupted in adverse weather conditions (high humidity, rain, etc.). The materials without mineral self-protection or P+V, used as a top layer (cap sheet), can be painted with an aluminium coating to improve and extend the performance and life expectancy, the material should be allowed to oxidize approx. 3-6 months before being coated. An alternative, depending on the type of construction, it is possible to use heavy protection (floating pavements, stone, etc.). The pallets on which the rolls are packaged are intended for normal warehouse use. The materials on stock should be rotated following a first in first out rotation. 20 Thermal activated composite waterproofing membrane Compound Prefabricated thermal activated composite waterproofing membrane, composed of distilled bitumen and special synthesis polymers, which provide thermal adhesion properties to the lower face waterproofing compound. The waterproofing compound of the upper face allows for fast heat transmission to the lower face. The thermal activated waterproofing compound allows the product to be positioned and applied without the initial use of heat and is particularly indicated for those surfaces where the use of direct open flame is not suggested. Reinforcement PLURA THERMO AD has a rot proof composite woven non woven single strand polyester reinforcement, with high mechanical characteristics. Finishes The upper face is protected with a polyethylene film. The lower face is provided with a thermoplastic removable film. Advantages in terms of sustainability Product ECO 100: product with regenerated raw materials and totally recyclable. Advantages of PLURA THERMO AD Possible to use on heat sensitive insulation panels (ex.pse). Possible to use on wooden planks. Possible to use with any type of bituminous membrane or polyolefin. The adhesive peculiarities of PLURA THERMO AD are such that once the thermoplastic film has been removed the roof is watertight. Stratigraphy Silicon release film 2. Thermal activated mass 3. Single strand composite polyester reinforcement Time saving during the application of two layers because it is only necessary to eliminate, by means of torch, the polyethylene on the membrane, without having to excessively melt the waterproofing compound (superior to 302 F), which could damage the heat sensitive insulation panels. With the PLURA THERMO AD products the temperature of 176 F is not exceeded. The special compounds of PLURA THERMO AD behave in a permanent elastic manner, uniformly distributing and accommodating those micro movements of the substrate. Progressive increase of the adhesion, due to the particular compound of PLURA THERMO AD preserves and maintains in time its characteristics of thermal adhesion. Once the maximum adhesion value has been reached (superior to the intrinsic cohesion of the insulating element) there is no decline with time of the adhesive strength. No loss of waterproofing mass by melting of the compound, and therefore, maintaining thickness in two layer systems. The temperature of thermal activation is 122 F. The PLURA THERMO AD membrane achieves total adhesion between the substrate and insulation panel, guaranteeing the traceability of any accidental infiltration and assuring an exceptional wind resistance (uplift) Mass which promotes fast heat transmission 5. PE film 6. Selvedge release film 6 20 The waterproofing membrane based on distilled bitumen and polymers, as shown in this data sheet does not contain dangerous substances. The information data sheet for the proper use of products is available.

21 P Areas of use Due to their characteristics, the membranes of the PLURA THERMO AD series can be used with success in a wide range of waterproofing applications in civil and industrial works, for example flat, sloped & barrel roofs, terraces, buried pipes, etc.; particularly suitable for all those structures and applications where the use of direct flame on the substrate is not recommended (ex. polystyrene insulation or wooden roofs). The particular formulation of the membranes of the PLURA THERMO AD series makes them compatible with all PLUVITEC membranes, be they either APP or SBS based. PLURA THERMO AD V & P can be used as a vapour shield, in multi-layer systems, where it is applied as the first layer. Due to the particular thermal activated waterproofing compound, during the application of the second layer by torch or hot air gun, PLURA THERMO AD V & P develop their adhesive properties and adhere to the substrate. Applications & Recommendations On cementious substrates or similar apply by roller or airless the bituminous primer D41, approx. consumption 0.5 gallon per 100 square feet. Position the rolls on the application surface without the use of heat. (drawing 1) Provide for side & head laps respectively of 4 & 6 between the sheets, making sure to also remove the side overlap on the upper face. (drawing 2) Remove the thermoplastic film on the lower face of the membrane. (drawing 3) After having positioned the rolls, apply pressure over the surface using a suitable roller to promote adhesion. The adhesion of the PLURA THERMO AD will already start with the heat of the sun and continue during the application by torching the top layer waterproofing membrane. (drawing 4) Avoid staking pallets for storage ASTM Test Property Unit P* Thickness ASTM D 5147 mm 3 Roll Weight ASTM D 228 lb 88 Roll Lenght (10.01 m) Roll Width 39 ⅜ (1 m) Tensile MD/CMD ASTM D 5147 lbf/in 100/70 MD/CMD ASTM D 5147 % 50/50 Tear Strength MD/CMD ASTM D ASTM D 5147 lbf/in 100/80 Low Temperature Flexibility ASTM D 5147 F -13 Dimensional Stability MD/CMD ASTM D ASTM D 5147 % change 0.5/0.3 Compound 230 F ASTM D 5147 Pass * Material tested in accordance with ASTM D 5147 Standard Test Methods for Sampling and Testing Modified Bituminous Sheet Materials.
