The product is suitable for use in tropical and hot climatic conditions. 2 Storage Storage Conditions Shelf Life Store in cool and dry conditions in unopened, undamaged and sealed original packaging at temperatures between +5 C and +35 C. Protect from direct sunlight and heat 24 months minimum if stored properly. EU Regulation 2004/42 VOC - Decopaint Directive USGBC LEED Rating According to the EU-Directive 2004/42, the maximum allowed content of VOC (Product category IIA / j type sb) 500 g/lt (Limit 2010) for the ready to use product. The maximum content of Sika Primer MB+ is < 500 g/lt VOC for the ready to use product. Sika Primer MB+ conforms to the requirements of LEED EQ Credit 4.2: Low-Emitting Materials: Paints & Coatings SCAQMD Method VOC Content < 100 g/lt Application Details Substrate Quality Substrate Preparation Substrate must be clean, even, free from dust, oil and grease. Weak areas, voids etc. and cement laitance must be removed back to a sound substrate. Compressive strength: > 8 N/mm 2 Tensile Bond strength: > 0.8 N/mm 2 Adhesive residues must be removed to less than 50% of surface area (i.e. removed by grinding etc.). Preliminary bond strength testing is recommended. The instructions of the screed floor manufacturer must be complied with. Concrete / cementitious screed: Must be ground and thoroughly cleaned by industrial vacuum. Anhydrite screed / Anhydrite flowable screed: Must be ground and thoroughly cleaned by industrial vacuum shortly before coating. Mastic asphalt: Must be broadcast to excess and cleaned by industrial vacuum. Fibre reinforced concrete Any exposed fibres must be burnt off the surface. Broadcast mastic asphalt: kg/m 2 During application and until Sika Primer MB+ has fully cured, the substrate temperature must be > +10 C and when used with under floor heating < +30 C. Application temperature of substrate must be minimum 3 C above the dew point! For substrate temperatures standard construction rules are relevant. +10 C min. / +35 C max. 80 % maximum Permissible substrate moisture content < 8 % pbw using the Sika -Tramex meter (at the time of application). Please note that the moisture content must be < 6 % pbw when using the CMmeasurement or Oven-dry-method. Test method: Sika -Tramex meter, CM - measurement or Oven-dry-method. No rising moisture content according to ASTM (Polyethylene-sheet): For checking the moisture content use the Rubber Mat Test according to ASTM (at least 1 m x 1 m of polyethylene sheet, taped to the concrete surface) This should be left in position for at least 24 hours, prior to removal and testing. Any condensed vapour transmissions are thereby detected. Note: For moisture content and quality of substrates the guidelines of the wood floor manufacturer as well as standard construction rules must be observed. Beware of condensation! The substrate and uncured floor must be at least 3 C above dew point to reduce the risk of condensation or blooming on the floor finish. Note: Low temperatures and high humidity conditions increase the probability of blooming. Part A : Part B = 79 : 21 (by weight) Prior to mixing, stir Part A mechanically. Add all of Part B and when it has all been added to Part A, mix continuously for 3 minutes until a uniform mix has been achieved. To ensure thorough mixing pour materials into another container and mix again to achieve a consistent mix. Over mixing must be avoided to minimise air entrainment. Mixing Tools Sika Primer MB+ must be thoroughly mixed using a low speed electric stirrer ( rpm) or other suitable equipment. For the preparation of mortars use a forced action mixer of rotating pan, paddle or trough type. Free fall mixers should not be used. Application Method / Tools Prior to application, confirm substrate moisture content, r.h. and dew point. If > 8% pbw moisture content (Tramex), Sikafloor EpoCem may be applied as a temporary moisture barrier system. Apply Sika Primer MB+ uniformly (in two directions 90 ) to the substrate using a nylon roller (medium pile mm), ensuring that a continuous coat is achieved over the entire surface (gives a mirror like finish). Notes on Application / Limitations Do not apply Sika Primer MB+ on substrates with rising moisture, or significant vapour pressure may occur. Freshly applied Sika Primer MB+ should be protected from damp, condensation and water for at least 24 hours. Avoid puddles on the surface with the primer. Wood floor installation in areas without a damp proof membrane can only be undertaken with a moisture regulator; System Sikafloor EpoCem and Sika Primer MB+ for moisture control. When used in conjunction with SikaBond Wood Floor Adhesives, Sika Primer MB+ must not be broadcast with sand.
