4 APPLICATIONS GTEC LaDura Applications GTEC LaDura has been specifically developed to offer the most professional solution for a wide range of severe duty applications. GTEC LaDura is the latest high performance board from Lafarge, complimenting the GTEC specialist board range. Developed as a high density multi-purpose gypsum board, which fulfils the most demanding technical requirements. GTEC LaDura encompasses added features and benefits rendering it the viable alternative to gypsum fibre boards on the market. GTEC LaDura when used as an integral component of a partition and/or lining system is suitable for sectors where the public and others intensively use the spaces with little incentive to exercise care and are prone to vandalism and/or abnormal rough use. Each of these sectors have their own specific performance criteria which must be adhered to, in relation to fire resistance, sound insulation and impact resistance. Guidance should be sought from the relevant technical documentation for each sector i.e. HTM s, Building Regulations, Approved Documents, Sport of England Design Guidance, British Standards etc. In addition to the above, durability and console loading are paramount within certain sectors for which GTEC LaDura can be confidently specified. 6 INSTALLATION GTEC LaDura Installation GTEC LaDura is simple to install, giving you the workability and superior finish, which you associate with all GTEC plasterboards. The following steps give you outline installation details. Please contact Technical Enquiryline for further details. 1.Framing GTEC LaDura board can be installed on both steel framed and timber framed structures, with the studs set at 600mm centres. GTEC LaDura can be installed on 0.52mm nominal metal thickness. 2. Fixing Screw fix the board to the frame at 300mm centres. Cut the board 5mm to 8mm shorter than the floor to ceiling height, butt firmly against the ceiling and fix with GTEC LaDura specialist screws. These screws have been developed specifically to meet the needs of fixing to standard gauge framing. 3.Sealing If planning to skim plaster please ensure the surface of the board has been sealed with a PVA bonding agent. When skim plastering, use the same approach as advised with any standard moisture board. 4. Finishing GTEC LaDura board provides an outstanding finish. The board can be jointed and finished with any Lafarge jointing system. The board requires priming with GTEC Universal sealer prior to decorating and treating with a PVA bonding agent before skim plastering. PAGE 6 LAFARGE GTEC LADURA

15 HEALTH & SAFETY GTEC LaDura Health & Safety ACCREDITATIONS: Sustainability GTEC LaDura comes from Lafarge, voted one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Companies for 6 years in a row In line with other EN520 plasterboards, GTEC LaDura comprises mainly of gypsum, a non-hazardous material, enclosed in a liner produced from 100% recycled paper The low environmental impact of the board composition is further enhanced by the addition of 8% wood particles. This zero carbon renewable material is sourced sustainably and backed with PEFC Chain of Custody certification Resource Efficiency GTEC LaDura is manufactured in the same low energy process as standard plasterboard with closed loop recycling of water and process wastes ISO14001 certification of the production plant provides assurance of environmental protection and credits under BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes BRE Green Guide ratings of A and A+ are typically achieved using GTEC LaDura; due to high product performance light metal systems can be employed, leading to savings in cost, materials and embodied carbon compared with gypsum fibreboards. Recycling & Re-use GTEC LaDura is fully recyclable and accepted by the GTEC Wasteline Direct service for recycling into new plasterboard Gypsum powder from recycled board fully meets the quality criteria of BSI PAS109* in relation to composition, paper fibre content and purity. Handling and storage When manually handling plasterboard, consideration of the correct manual handling technique has to be made to limit risk, according to the Manual Handling Operations Regulations Plasterboard is supplied on a wooden pallet system. Packs should be moved using a folk lift truck or hydraulic trolley. Care should be taken to ensure that the machinery is safely capable of such movements and that the operator is trained and competent Pack size: 12.5mm board: 40 boards to the pack. 15mm board: 30 boards to the pack. Length: 2400 and 3000 mm. Width: 1200 mm. Maximum height (pallet included): 600 mm. Plasterboard should be stored in dry, flat conditions. Plasterboard is not a suitable product to be used as a platform or deck. It will not support body weight and therefore it is important that installers use an independent support mechanism. Hands: To limit the effect wear protective gloves, a barrier cream can also be applied.
