These rapid setting high build elastomeric systems are impervious to deicing chemicals, water, ballast, stray current and other factors that contribute to accelerated deterioration and wear of elevated structures and tunnels. 3 Bridge Deck Waterproofing Products Bridge Deck Membrane Bridge Deck Membrane is used as a waterproof membrane with dielectric properties for protection against typical corrosion conditions that exist on many rail and DOT structures. Bridge Deck Top Coat Bridge Deck Top Coat is used on applications requiring an aggregated topcoat. The slower setting membrane is applied directly over Bridge Deck Membrane, and allows aggregate to be broadcast into the membrane before initial set. Bridge Deck Membrane Patch Coat Bridge Deck Membrane Patch is used for incidental patching and touchup. The slower setting membrane allows material to be dispensed though duplex cartridges and finished by brush or trowel. Bridge Deck Concrete Primer Bridge Deck Concrete Primer is a specially formulated two-component low viscosity primer used for priming and sealing concrete substrates. Bridge Deck Metal Primer Bridge Deck Metal Primer is a specially formulated single-component primer recommended for all metal substrates. Bridge Deck Multi-Use Primer Bridge Deck Multi-Use Primer is a specially formulated two-component polymer primer that can be thinned with solvent for better penetration or coverage. Bridge Deck Multi-Use Primer can be used on both metal and masonry substrates. Bridge Deck Tack Coat Bridge Deck Tack Coat is a specially formulated, high solids, single component, polymer modified bitumen primer designed to provide adhesion of asphalt overlays to Bridge Deck Membrane or Bridge Deck Membrane with an aggregated topcoat. Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator is a specially formulated single-component cleaner and surface activator. Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator is used to reactivate the surface of the Bridge Deck Membrane when incidental patching or over coating is required. Expansion Joints Bridge Bridge Deck Expansion Joints Bridge Deck Expansion Joint is a pre-molded expansion joint made from same coating chemistry as Bridge Preservation Bridge Deck Membrane. Bridge Preservation Expansion Joint system is designed to work directly with Bridge Deck Membrane waterproofing, creating a continuous and seamless waterproof membrane system over the entire bridge structure. Bridge Deck Expansion Joint can be applied to both concrete and steel bridge structures. Bridge Deck Joint Sealant Bridge Deck Joint Sealant is a single component, moisture-curing product which forms a permanent elastic bond. Bridge Deck Joint Sealant bonds to a variety of materials including concrete, steel, plastics, fiberglass, and wood. Bridge Deck Joint Sealant can be used in conjunction with Bridge Deck Expansion Joint as a top seal to provide a double joint system. Bridge Deck Joint Adhesive Bridge Deck Joint Adhesive is a slow setting, 100% solids, two-component polymer product. Bridge Deck Joint Adhesive is used with the Bridge Preservation Joint system to adhere both the joint flanges and seal joint overlaps. The slower setting adhesive membrane allows proper wetting and adhesion of joint materials before initial set. Bridge Deck Joint Adhesive can be applied in temperatures down to -20 F without effect on setup time or curing, and can be applied at specified thickness in one continuous application. Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator is a specially formulated single-component cleaner and surface activator. Bridge Deck Membrane Surface Activator is used to reactivate the surface of the Bridge Deck Membrane when incidental patching or over coating is required.

4 Railway Bridge Surface Waterproofing Solutions Rail bridge decks suffer deterioration from the corrosive effects of both natural and man-made agents. Freeze/thaw cycles, repeated day after day, year after year, also deteriorate the structures. Granite ballast adds a particular challenge for rail bridge decks because of the punishing effects of its angularity. The tremendous pounding of high point loads adds to the challenge. Bridge Preservation spray-applied elastomeric waterproofing membranes, specifically formulated and highly durable, will provide years of waterproofing protection for rail bridge decks. Surface Preparation (Steel Structures) Surface preparation methods are performed to SSPC SP-10 standards. Abrasive blasting is the standard preparation method. Priming Bridge Preservation produces both single and two component metal primers, used to insure maximum long term coating bond strength.

Cleaning surface before surface preparation After the existing asphalt wearing course is removed, all remaining loose dust, dirt and other debris are removed by air blast or power broom. Surface Preparation Surface preparation methods are performed to SSPC SP-13/NACE No. 6 standards. Shot blasting, abrasive blasting or surface milling are standard preparation methods. Priming Application of Bridge Preservation Concrete Primer over concrete surface. This primer material is water thin and can be applied by pump or hand mixed and placed by squeegee. Surface Coating Application of Bridge Preservation Bridge Deck Membrane (BDM). Typical application is 80 mils, and is applied through specialized spray equipment.

7 Surface Coating BDM Top Coat On applications where grades exceed 4.5%, or where excessive braking may occur, an extra 40 mil application of BDM and aggregate is applied. The addition of the aggregate allows extra mechanical adhesion for the asphalt wearing course. Sweeping Aggregate Aggregate is broadcast onto the wet membrane until refusal. After initial set of the membrane, excess aggregate is swept and removed from the bridge deck surface. Tack Coat Application Application of polymer modified bitumen tack primer/tack coat is used to insure maximum adhesion between the waterproofing membrane and asphalt wearing course. Asphalt Wear Course Application A minimum one hour cure time of the membrane is required before installation of the asphalt wearing course. 8 Bridge Preservation Joint System combined with Bridge Deck Membrane provides watertight protection from water leakage for the entire bridge deck structure. Unlike other manufacturers that utilize PVC waterstop joints glued to the membrane, Bridge Preservation s joint system provides a seamless, continuous membrane and joint system that can accommodate up to 50% (+/-) movement while maintaining a watertight seal.

10 Bridge Preservation Tunnel Lining and Waterproofing Systems Bridge Preservation spray applied membrane systems are ideal for applications in below grade cut and cover tunnels, immersed tube or shotcrete lined tunnels. The unique polymer technology provided by Bridge Preservation products allow the materials to be sprayed of a wide variety of substrate configurations, surface profiles and orientations. Whether spraying horizontal, vertical or overhead applications, all are easily accomplished with Bridge Preservation products. Bridge Preservation products set in seconds, regardless of substrate and ambient conditions, allowing a uniform coating thickness around irregular surfaces and penetrations, insuring a water tight seal regardless of the demanding site conditions. Bridge Preservation spray applied membranes will not sag regardless of spray orientation, and will bond instantly to substrate surfaces during application, allowing a continuous, seamless and highly durable waterproofing system.
