1 make concrete comfortable Installation Guide The tyroc Subflooring System Designed by contractors, tyroc is the most cost effective subfloor system on the market. tyroc is water proof and mould and mildew resistant, and yet is both fast and easy to install. The tyroc Soft Walk technology eliminates the clicking noise and lifting that are common on most wooden OSB subfloor systems. tyroc is designed to be installed directly on top of new or seasoned concrete floors and acts as a highly effective barrier to moisture and cold. tyroc s low profile ensures that basements using tyroc have up to 1 more headroom than those using OSB subflooring systems. Fast Installation and Easy to Carry tyroc is available in easy to carry 48 x 16 x 1/2 panels. The engineered 5.3 square foot panels are 20% - 30% faster to install than the traditional 24 x 24 x 7/8 4.0 square foot OSB panels. Ease of Installation tyroc can be installed in any building that has an internal temperature of between 40 F and 105 F. There is no need to acclimatize the tyroc subflooring products. tyroc can be installed immediately after purchase. There is also no need to use a humidifier to control the humidity in the basement or the building either before, during and after installation. tyroc remains firmly in place during installation and eliminates the need to reset the subfloor due to separation of the panels as is common on tongue and groove subfloor systems. No levelling shims are required to install the tyroc subfloor. The moulded rubber base is very flexible and can be easily shapes itself to minor variations in the floor. Stability tyroc is virtually impervious to most elements and provides exceptional durability and stability. tyroc will not contract or expand when exposed to moisture, high humidity or low humidity. 2 Carpet, Tile, Linoleum, Laminate Flooring Carpets, tile and linoleum can be installed directly on top of the tyroc subfloor. There is no need to purchase and install an additional layer of plywood prior to installing carpeting, tile or linoleum. Prior to installing linoleum, care must be taken to emboss all seams. Tools you will need to install tyroc panels: Circular Saw or Jigsaw or Hand Saw (Regular Teeth) or Skill Saw or Table Saw Caulking Gun tyroc Adhesive Cartridges Pneumatic Stapler with 3/8 wide x 7/16 long Staples Chalk-line Measuring Tape ¼ Spacer Caution: Cutting tyroc with a saw will generate dust. Cut in a well-ventilated area. It is recommended that the circular saw use a vacuum attachment. Step 1 The concrete floor and foundation should be relatively dry and free of continued leaks, excessive moisture penetration or flooding problems prior to installing tyroc subfloor panels. Clear the concrete floor of all furnishings and equipment and sweep or vacuum up any debris. Page 2

3 The tyroc rubber base will adjust to any uneven surface variation of less than ¼. This will be the edge that you will use to align the black edge of the under side of the tyroc subfloor panels. Page 3

This will result in the panel being spaced ¼ from the wall. Align the black composite rubber edge of the tyroc panel s long side on the chalk line. This will space the panel ¼ off the long edge to the wall. Align this edge to chalk-line tyroc Panel Page 4

Place the second panel of tyroc over the adhesive on the end of the first panel and staple (optional). Staples can be installed parallel or at right angles to the joint. 6 Step 6 Repeat Step 5 until all the tyroc panels are installed in the First Row. Cut the last panel in the First Row approximately 1/4 short of the end wall. Chalk-Line First Row Last Panel Plan View of Basement Floor Wall Step 7 To achieve the recommended brick pattern, cut the first tyroc panel for the Second Row to a length of approximately 24. Apply a 3/16 diameter bead of adhesive on the long edge of the first panel from the First Row in Step 5. Using a ¼ spacer, place the 24 panel over adhesive on the first panel from the First Row and press down lightly. Staple at 3 centers if desirable. Apply a 3/16 diameter bead of tyroc adhesive to the full length of the exposed black composite rubber edge on the next full length (48 ) panel and against the end of the 24 section. Place top edge of the full length (48 ) panel against both tend and the side edge the 24 panel and press down to seal the surfaces together. Repeat the process for the length of the floor Remember to leave a ¼ gap at the end of the row. It will be necessary to cut the last panel to length to achieve a ¼ gap to the wall. Apply Step 4 in the next row and Step 7 in the following row. Use the same pattern until the room is complete. Page 6
