2 Description: The Bishop Long Log Cabin site is 2.19 acres of woodlands with a log cabin built in the 1820s. The Park land is adjacent to Grant s Farm off of Pardee Road. The house was restored in the 1930s by George and Ethel Bishop, who were both physicians associated with Washington University Medical School. They gave the cabin land to St. Louis County in the early 1970s. A County Parks staff member currently resides in the house. View of park sign. View of the log cabin. Site Observation Summary: Vegetation on property is overgrown. Invasive species are present in the woods. Huge gaps in foundation stones allow storm water to get into the basement. The gravel drive has pot holes. Gravel drive parking area off of Pardee Road. St. Louis County Parks Master Plan Invasive species have taken hold in wooded areas. Page 2

Creating numerous trip hazards Exterior retaining walls need major repairs Spot locations need grout tuck pointing on fireplace chimney, water infiltration is noticeable inside. Grout between building exterior logs need re-grouting in multiple locations Exterior wood doors do not work properly creating a security item, they need to be replaced Wood trim around windows show signs of weathering and need attention. Interior flooring consists of tile and concrete and needs repairs Electrical system has had a recent panel upgrade, but building wiring needs replaced throughout: Broken fixtures, exposed wiring, code violations, etc. Recommend an electrical engineer inspection One exterior light noted which creates a security issue, recommend adding two more HVAC system has had minor upgrades but needs total upgrades for proper function Boiler system vents trough the existing fireplace chimney, not in a separate duct, code issue Plumbing system consists of cast iron piping and needs full replacement throughout Building foundation has minor leaks, lower foundation needs to be filled Floor joints, support columns and wood trim in basement have serious termite or other bug infested conditions. First termite treatment is recommended and then a structural engineer to inspect Detached garage/storage building is unsafe to occupy The property has numerous code and safety concerns with all major trades Recommend engineering and further code inspection with proper officials St. Louis County Parks Master Plan Page 4
