3 The screed and levelling solution that is faster to apply and quicker to set than cement based alternatives. Permascreed has been developed to satisfy the needs of today s construction industry. Its special mastic asphalt formulation delivers a cure time of around one hour, making the roof or deck trafficable much faster than traditional cement screeds. Site programs can therefore be streamlined and delays to other trades minimised. IKO are global leaders in structural waterproofing and Permascreed delivers the outstanding performance that is the hallmark of every IKO product. It also contributes to the sustainability of every building it protects, as at least 30% of Permascreed is produced from recycled materials. Manufactured from selected bitumens, limestone filler and graded coarse aggregates, Permascreed is the modern, faster and more capable alternative to cement screeds. The system is designed to add value to a building and provide benefits that traditional screeds can t match. IKO PLC has achieved the environmental standards ISO and BES 6001 for its mastic asphalt and hot melt factory in Derbyshire. IKO s investment in developing the factory has made it as environmentally friendly as possible. IKO continue to focus on recycling raw materials, reducing packaging, cutting energy and water consumption and monitoring logistics to minimise environmental impact. Standards such as ISO (environmental management) and BES 6001 (responsible sourcing of products) are increasingly specified on major projects. IKO has achieved BES 6001 on a range of products produced at the Grangemill site including Permaphalt, Roofstar, Floorstar, Pavestar, Permapark, Permatrack and PermaTEC. As the requirement for responsible sourcing increases, clients are demanding further clarity from the supply chain as to how it can demonstrate this. With Grangemill achieving ISO and our range gaining BES 6001 this can now be provided when IKO s products are specified and installed.

5 A highly efficient and highly versatile screed or surface levelling solution. Permascreed can be applied to in-situ and pre-cast concrete bases. It is suitable for use below cold roofs, insulated warm roofs, inverted insulated roofs, all green roofs, balcony/terrace applications walkways/footbridges and car park/hgv service decks. It should be used in accordance with the recommendations given in the table on page 3. Permascreed s unique benefits don t come at the expense of practicality. There are 3 formulations that can be used on flat roofs or HGV service decks, and it can be applied by mastic asphalt contractors using tried and tested methods. Purpose-built 18 tonne hot charge transporters deliver Permascreed direct to the job site ready for use, or alternatively Permascreed is available in block form, delivered to site on pallets. It is normally laid on primed concrete but can be laid on glass fibre tissue or torch-on glass based bituminous membranes, in coats from 10mm to 60mm thickness. This flexibility and fast cure time mean that precise falls are easy to achieve and the roof finish can be applied within a few hours of Permascreed s installation. Permascreed delivered to site in purpose-built chargers Lugger facilitates on site transportation Levelling techniques similar to mastic asphalts Finished with a choice of waterproofing such as Permapark Mastic Asphalt 24h hot charge and lugger rescue vehicle IKO s fully-equipped dedicated 24 hour rescue and maintenance vehicle for its hot charge tankers and luggers, while present at a project site, are manned by a qualified IKO fitter and is equipped for every eventuality, carrying tools, PPE, maintenance kit and spare parts. As many jobs are scheduled overnight, the IKO rescue vehicle is on call 24/7 and will respond within 24 hours, and usually within 12. The vehicle is designed to save contractors time and money on site for projects using Permascreed, Permatrack, PermaTEC and Permapark. Call-outs are very rare but the rescue and maintenance vehicle is an integral part of this service. It acts as insurance that any problems with the tanker or lugger will be swiftly rectified. No other asphalt supplier has the resources to offer customers this level of support.

Mastic Asphalt, the ultimate base for protection and waterproofing, became the first industry in the world to achieve the CarbonZero standard. Working with CO2balance, at IKO we offset the CO 2 we produce during the manufacturing process by purchasing Carbon Credits. Which means that for every tonne of Mastic Asphalt we make, we are helping to fund environmental and humanitarian causes. In particular, the money raised allows us to help less fortunate people in countries such as Africa, where we are providing valuable money for special brick stoves.
