1 Installation guide: double-glued down installation Acoustical membranes from Tech series Consult the installation guide for hardwood or engineered flooring to prepare the subfloor. It is important to have a surface that is clean, free from any contaminants such as grease, dust, dirt, wood particles or other. Correct any imperfections in the subfloor according to recognized standards of preparation. The membrane does not correct defective concrete. Provide for an additional percentage of membrane to compensate for cutting waste, angle, closets, etc. ( to0 %). 7. Repeat until the room is completed. 8. Make sure seams are joined together and glued to the sub floor. It is not necessary to seal the seams with an adhesive tape.. Cut the membrane using a utility knife or regular scissors. 9. Roll the installed membrane with a 7 00 lbs roller to make sure the adhesive transfer is properly done.. The aluminized side of the membrane must be installed face up to reflect the temperature of the room towards the floor covering. 0. Proceed with floor covering installation 3. Cover the entire surface with the membrane and raising it vertically about inches on walls and obstacles. There should be no uncovered areas. The membrane strips should be touching, but need not be sealed. 4. Begin along the wall. Fold lengthwise to uncover the subfloor against the wall. Prevent the transfer of sound by vibrations In order to optimize the acoustical performances of the membrane, it is very important to: Raise the membrane vertically about inches on walls and obstacles to avoid a contact between structures and floor covering; Leave a space between the wall and the floor covering (expansion joint) to let the floor covering expand and to prevent the transfer of noise by vibrations from the floor to the wall Do not install the molding directly on the floor covering. Leave the space of a thin piece of cardboard to prevent the transfer of noise by ground vibrations to the wall.. Follow the recommendations of adhesive manufacturer. Spread the adhesive on the exposed subfloor.. Cover the glue part with the membrane. AcoustiTECH TM membrane 3 HP 0-0, Finitec Hardwood Products Inc. All rights reserved

3 Installation guide: ceramic installation AcoustiTECH Ceramic membrane FOR INDOOR USE ONLY Can be installed under ceramic tiles or natural stones and on structural or surfacing concrete products, plywood or OSB (Oriented Strand Board) used according to manufacturer's recommendations and meeting the standards and codes in place. Compatible with heating floor systems (see Guide for preparing a subfloor equipped with a radiant heating system, p. ). DO NOT INSTALL DIRECTLY ON GYPSUM SUPPORT. Surface preparation. Correct the imperfections or problems of the excessive moisture in the subfloor according to the recognized standards of preparation. Note: The membrane does not fix a problem of a deficient subfloor.. Ensure that the concrete is dry (emission rate of water vapor from the concrete not exceeding,3 kg per 9,9 m² (3 lbs per 000 sq.ft.) per 4 hours, according to the calcium chloride anhydrous test (ASTM F89) or 7 % according to the ASTM F70 test. If the moisture exceeds these recommendations, use a vapor barrier protection before installing the AcoustiTECH Ceramic membrane. 3. Thoroughly clean the subfloor: remove all grease, dust, wood particles, adhesive residue and/or black glue. In case of doubt, proceed to an adhesion test (figure ). Note: Never install a wet or damp membrane. If so, let it dry before the installation. Make sure that the temperature of the subfloor is between 0 C and 3 C (0 F and 90 F). Membrane preparation. In order to complete the installation quickly, we recommend cutting and floating the membrane across the whole surface, the aluminized side up.. The membrane strips should be touching without overlapping. Cut the membrane strips with a utility knife and cover the whole surface, including the wardrobes (figure ). 3. In order to obtain the acoustical properties of the membrane, allow an extra inches ( centimeters) of the membrane to run up the sides of the wall and trim the excess membrane after the flooring is installed (figure 3) and before reinstalling the baseboards (figure 7). Membrane and adhesive installation Note: Use only with the AcoustiTECH AD-80 adhesive.. Begin the application of the adhesive along one wall. Proceed by section.. Fold a strip of membrane on itself (lengthwise) to apply the adhesive on the uncovered portion of the subfloor. By doing so, the application will be clean, fast and more comfortable for the knees (figure 4). 3. Apply the adhesive with the /8" x /8" x /8" (3 x 3 x 3 mm) "V" notched trowel included in the box by holding it at an angle of 4. Maintain pressure on the trowel in order not to apply too much adhesive (figure ). The trowel should be in contact with the subfloor and the latter should be lightly coated with adhesive, but visible between the trowel-ridges. If necessary, immediately pass the trowel again in order to recover the surplus of adhesive (see pictures below). 4. Unfold the acoustical membrane on the section of applied adhesive and fold the other half of the strip of membrane on the glued part. Apply the adhesive on the exposed subfloor. Do this for the entire room.. At regular intervals, check the transfer of the adhesive by lifting a corner of the glued membrane (9 % transfer).. After gluing the membrane, pass a 7-00 lbs roller (3-4 Kg) to ensure a perfect adhesion of the adhesive. Proper application is visible between each adhesive trowel-ridge. Improper application Too much adhesive, creamy appearance and subfloor is not visible. figure figure figure 3 figure 4 figure figure figure 7 37 HP 0-0, Finitec Hardwood Products Inc. 4 Installation guide: ceramic installation Ceramic or natural stone installation IMPORTANT: The following products should be used with the AcoustiTECH Ceramic membrane. It is not recommended to install the AcoustiTECH Ceramic membrane under ceramic tiles of less than 0" x 0" ( cm x cm) in size. MORTAR What to use: Flexible mortar with acrylic-latex addmixture. Why: This product ensures the necessary flexibility to the assembly to avoid the ceramic to crack. Recommandations: Follow the manufacturer's mortar recommendations attentively. Verify the transfer of mortar every 8 to 0 tiles according to the method recognized by the industry. Respect the minimum drying time recommended by the manufacturer of mortar. Install ceramic or natural stone as specified by the floor covering manufacturer (figure ). Provide a space between the wall and the floor covering to avoid transfer of noise vibration. It is recommended to apply a flexible latex sealant in the space between the flooring and the wall if the surface is subject to come into contact with water or prone to moisture. GROUT What to use: Polymer-modified sanded grout. Why: This product ensures the necessary flexibility to the assembly to avoid the ceramic joints to crack. Recommandations: Follow the manufacturer's grout recommendations attentively. Do not allow heavy traffic before 7 hours or use planks or panels in case of absolute necessity. Respect the minimum drying time recommended by the grout manufacturer. 38 HP 0-0, Finitec Hardwood Products Inc. All rights reserved
