ADEKA ULTRA SEAL OCM, Inc. Sales Information: (847) Technical Information: (800) Contact Local Representative: DESCRIPTION: is a compressible, hydrophilic rubber waterstop. is 15mm X 10 mm in cross section and comes packaged in 25 meter (82 feet) per case. GENERAL USE: The product is designed for non-moving joints. Because of its low expansion pressure, it can be used in areas with a minimum of one inch of good quality concrete coverage. Lower expansion pressure allows the product to be used between the wet face of the concrete and the rebar provided there is a minimum of one inch of concrete coverage. Placing in this position will protect the rebar from moisture. is suitable for use between non-moving pre-cast segments where tolerances are within the limits of ( must be compressed in all areas). HYDROSTATIC HEAD: Pressure Test: 1. Hold pressure for 3 minutes for every 0.05 MPa (7.1 psi) increase. 2. Increase pressure in 0.05MPa increments until leak is detected. 3. Discontinue test for one week. 4. Resume test with above sequence - increasing pressure by 0.10 MPa (14.2 psi) * PHYSICAL PROPERTIES PACKAGIN 82 ft/case G Properties Value Testing Method Density 0.7 Mg/m 3 JIS K6268 (ASTM D792) Expansion 0.03 MPa In house Pressure Tensile 0.78Mpa JIS K 6251 (ASTM D412) strength Elongation 350% JIS K 6251 (ASTM D412) Volume 30 Vol % In house * Property values are representative values and not specification values. BASIC INSTALLATION: METHOD 1: (Attaching waterstop to smooth concrete): 1. Surface of the concrete must be clean, dry and free from any loose debris. 2. Paint concrete with appropriate adhesive (3M-2141, Bostik 1142, Scotch Grip 1357, 3M Spray Adhesive or equal). Allow adhesive to become tacky - firmly press onto adhesive. 3. Place concrete without displacing or disturbing the position of the waterstop. METHOD 2: (Rough Concrete with P-201. This method can be used on smooth concrete as well) 1. Surface of the concrete must be clean and free from standing water. 2. Apply small bead of Adeka Ultra Seal P-201 (1/16" X 3/8"). Use enough material to fill any void between the and the concrete surface. 3. Press into the P-201 while it is still in the paste state. 4. Use a wet tool or gloved finger to remove any excess P-201 (see details). 5. Allow sufficient curing time to adhere before placing concrete (time varies by temperature - approximately 4 hours at degrees F.). 6. Place concrete without disturbing the position of the waterstop. Results: NO LEAKAGE at 0.20 MPa (28.4 psi - approximately 57 foot hydrostatic head). Call your local Technical Representative or (800) for additional information.

ADEKA ULTRA SEAL ATTACHMENT PROCEDURE With Adeka P-201 (A) Cut nozzle at the tip. (B) Apply 1 / 16 " X 3 / 8 " bead. Apply thicker bead if the concrete is rough. There must be sufficient P-201 to fill any rough areas or voids. One cartridge of P-201 will cover approximately 40~50 feet at bead size of 1 / 16 " X 3 / 8 ". A (C) Press into the P-201 while it is still in the paste state. Note some P-201 will be forced out to the side. (D) Remove excess P-201. Use a 3/8" dowel dipped in water or similar tool to remove and smooth P-201. Allow sufficient curing time before placing concrete (approximately 8-10 hours depending on temperature). Check adherence before pouring concrete. Allow more time if not firmly attached to the concrete.. 8 ADEKA WATERSTOP WITH BUTYL TAPE Use butyl tape to attach MC-2005T or to a dry and clean substrate. The butyl tape comes in a 3/4" X 1/8" X 82 foot roll (1 roll per roll of ). Press the butyl strip onto the substrate and remove the release paper. Press the KBA-15010FP or MC- 2005T (remove release paper from MC-2005T) onto the butyl tape. Press firmly. Check for any gaps between the product and the substrate. If gaps are present, fill in using Adeka P-201 applied to the side of the strip. Use P-201 on corner joints and on side-by-side splice joints as usual. You can place concrete immediately - no waiting for curing time. You can use the butyl tape to attach on vertical planes or overhead. Check to make sure the product is firmly adhered before placing concrete. Use the butyl tape to attach Adeka or MC-2005T for pipe penetrations. It can be used to attach around the block out and/or around the pipe. Butyl tape can be used to attach on precast applications as well. MC- 2005T is not suitable for precast. MC-2005T is designed for CIP use only. For a leak proof application, always verify that the product is firmly attached and that P-201 is used on corner/splice joints before placing concrete. Make sure the concrete is well consolidated around the waterstop. Contact: for more information info@adeka.com

December 20, 2002 Industrial materials group Durability data of ADEKA ULTRASEAL (CURED TYPE) 1. Purpose, There is a difficulty to predict durability of materials. Because, it need to consider many condition to estimate its durability. But we have to know materials durability to use it. Degradation of materials is one of chemical reaction, so we can know its durability from heat degradation. Generally, Arrhenius s method is used to estimate durability of materials. Relationship between speed of chemical reaction and temperature is shown as follows by S. A. Arrhenius in K = A exp (-Ea/RT) (1) K : velocity constant R : gas constant T : absolute temperature A : frequency factor Ea : activation energy To estimate materials durability, expression (1) leads expression (2). ln (t) = Ea/(RT) + const (2) t : hours Expression (2) means, logarithm of time t proportional to (1/T). So, promoted test results at high temperature can estimate life of materials at normal condition. We choose half-life of material s elongation data to estimate durability of ADEKA ULTRASEAL (CURED TYPE).

2. Promoted degradation test Testing condition is shown at table-1. Table-1) Testing condition Test item Elongation Temperature 50,70 and 90 degrees C Predict method Half-life of elongation Testing method JIS K 6251 Result 0 Change of elongation (%) deg C 70 deg C 90 deg C days Fig.1) Relationship between change of elongation and days We can read half-life of elongation from Fig.1) as follows, Expression (3) - (5) show approximate expression of change of elongation and days data. y = ln (x) (3) y = ln (x) (4) y = ln (x) (5) Temperature (Deg C)/(Deg F)/(K) 90 / 194 / / 158 / / 122 / 323 Days ,069 y : change of elongation x : days t (hrs) 278 8,078 49,646

3. Predict of material s life Expression (2) and Table-1 show relationship of ln (t) and 1/T as follows. Fig.2 ) Relationship between ln (t) and (1/T) ln (t) = * (1/T) * (6) Expression (6) leads durability of ADEKA ULTRASEAL (CURED TYPE) at degrees C as follows. Table-2. Durability of ADEKA ULTRASEAL (CURED TYPE) Temperature (Deg C)/(Deg F)/(K) 20 / 68 / / 77 / / 86 / 303 Predicted Durability (years) This predict method results estimate degradation time at controlled conditions, so these data does not estimate durability at actual condition. Materials are using in many kinds of conditions, so its durability are different in many cases. But this durability data is useful to know ADEKA ULTRASEAL (CURED TYPE) has good degradation resist ability. (End)
