2 Being an essential part of any concrete block machine, a replaceable mould is responsible for giving concrete mix the desired shape. It consists of two parts mould box and compaction head. Namtas has a separate well-equipped department responsible for the design and manufacturing of a wide range of high-strength durable moulds. The company produces moulds both for its own concrete block machines and for the machines made by other manufacturers. Namtas s engineers can also design and manufacture any mould according to customer s requirements. 46 HOLLOW BLOCKS Concrete masonry unit, also known as hollow block, is one of the most commonly used building materials in the world. There are hundreds of varieties of hollow blocks different in every country. Namtas moulds are designed specifically for the manufacturing of both high-quality sand-cement and lightweight masonry units, such as pumice or expanded clay blocks. Since hollow blocks usually have complex configuration Namtas uses welding as a primary technique of assembling the mould parts. Compaction head shoes are attached to the compaction head plate via bolts. Namtas can manufacture moulds both for solid and cored concrete masonry units with hollow or closed cavities, with mortar grooves, chamfers and other specification depending on customer s requirements. 46
