This manual specifically addresses the code compliance requirements of OSHPD for Lowell Manufacturing Company s seismic rated racks and vertical cabinets with (-S) suffix. Models shown are UL Listed welded assemblies fabricated with premium US steel. They include extra base brackets welded in position and this complete set of P.E. Certified documents. For product dimensions, technical details and accessories, refer to individual specification sheets available on line at Note: seismic models will not accept optional mobile or stationary base. All Lowell seismic (-S) racks and cabinets meet or exceed the seismic design requirements for Anchorage with an Importance Factor of 1.0 or 1.5 and spectral acceleration up to 3.0g s as specified by the 2003 International Building Code, 1997 Uniform Building Code and 2001 California Building Code, if anchored in accordance with the P.E. Certified Seismic Summary and Anchorage Installation Details Manual-UBC/IBC/CBC*. The same (-S) racks and cabinets also meet the requirements for California s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, if anchored in accordance with the P.E. Certified Seismic Summary and Installation Details for OSHPD fixed Equipment Anchorage Manual OPA-0628* Some models are additionally qualified to meet more stringent Seismic Anchorage AND Cabinet structure qualifications as established by the IBC for Essential Facilities with an Importance factor of 1.5, if anchored and installed in accordance with the IBC Seismic Essential Facility Qualification Summary - Cabinet and Anchorage Installation Manual*. All seismic racks and cabinets ship with welded brackets in each corner of the base (see diagram). Each bracket includes a hole for anchor installation (anchors by others). Anchor size, type, embedment, spacing, and edge distance requirements are based on the results of the seismic calculations and limits established by each industry code and are detailed in the manuals referenced above. All Seismic racks feature Lowell s one-piece X-style side frame to achieve extra rigidity for withstanding earthquake ground motion. *All three P.E. Certified seismic manuals were developed by an outside structural engineering/consulting firm. The appropriate manual, as specified on cabinet order, ships with each -S rack/cabinet.
