REVISED: Closing Date The closing date is being extended from June 27, 2014 to July 4, :00pm noon. 2. CLARIFICATIONS 2.1 Specification section CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE to be replaced with revised section 01112r1 - CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE as per attached. (1 Page) 2.2 See attached TDSB requirements for TDSB specific requirement for this location. Any costs associated with additional TDSB requirements shall be carried under MOBILIZATION/DEMOBILIZATION section. (2 Pages) 3. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following are responses to questions received during the call period: Q1. Points no. 1 & 2 on Site Safety in drawing Sheet no. 0, ask for Steel Modular Fence & Signage on inside of exit. Location or extent of steel modular fence not shown on any drawings. As all works are to be carried out on roof, is this applicable to this contract? A1. Fencing instructions are generic and are to be applied as required to separate working, staging, and/or storage areas from public areas. Q2. Concerning the tender (Roof replacement and Mechanical upgrade at BOB ABATE CRC), please I am asking if in case of award...will you ask for Pollution Liability? A2. 3 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE Bob Abate Community Recreation Centre 485 Montrose Avenue, Toronto Section 01112r1 - Page 1 of 1 PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 Project State Date 1.2 Project Completion Date.1 The contractor is expected to start the project within five (5) business days of being issued a Purchase Order. Start-up activities include preparation of the draft construction schedule (to be issued for approval by the owner) and submittal of shop drawings. It is anticipated that a purchase order will be issued around August 30, The project is to be 100% complete by Wed, December 17, This means that final site clean-up and demobilization is to have occurred by this date. The target date for the final deficiency inspection is December 10, Project closeout documents to be submitted by January 16, 2015 at the latest. Money will be held back from the contractor s final payment until all closeout documents are received in good order. 1.3 Scheduling Limitations.1 The facility will remain open for most of the construction period. Therefore, the contractor will be required to work around the staff requirements and operations of the facility..2 The construction schedule will need to be approved by the facility supervisor prior to construction activities commencing onsite..3 From September 1 st, 2014 up to and including October 24, 2014, interior renovation contract will be completed in the building. During this time, the two separate work areas will be separated by means of hoarding. The hoarding will be removed by this contractor, once 1 st phase of work is completed..3 The contractor will have full facility access starting October 25, 2014 up to and including December 12, 2014 (only facility staff will be in the building during this time). Any work started during this time period must be completed during this time period. The facility must be fully functioning for December 13, End of Section 3 of 5

4 The Contractor shall sign an an Agreement between the Board and the Maintenance and Construction Skilled Trade Council (MCSTC). The Contractor shall include 0.5% of the contract price as contribution to MCSTC in the lump sum Tender Price. The Board is obligated to make this deduction on a pro rata basis from future progress payment to the Contractor and to remit such amounts to the Council. The Contractor and all Sub-Contractors shall be signatory to the Provincial Agreement as applied to the Trades listed below and who are affiliated with the Maintenance and Construction Skilled Trade Council: (Any Infraction of a union affiliation, may subject the Contractor to Damages and or a fine.) A refundable $75.00 deposit shall be charged for each badge; the Contractor shall submit a cheque to the Toronto District School Board for the number of badges received. All badges shall be returned to the Project Supervisor at the conclusion of the project, at which time the deposit will be returned to the Contractor; the badges are not transferable to any other project. The Contractor shall be charged a fee of $ for each lost badge (additional $125.00, on top of the $75.00 deposit mentioned above). It shall be the Contractor s responsibility to assign and track each badge; the Contractor shall keep a daily log which will accurately depict the name of the user of each badge. Each badge carries a unique TDSB identification number; each number must be traceable to the individual assigned the badge. The wearing of badges by all personnel shall be strictly enforced; any tradesperson not adhering to this regimen will be asked to leave the site, until such time that a current badge is obtained and worn. The Contractor s trades not being able to access the site due to not having current badges, will not absolve the Contractor of not being able to complete the project at a stipulated date outlined earlier in this document. The Liquidated 4 of 5

5 Damages Clause shall be applied. The Minimum Tree Protection Zone will be the drip line. Within this tree protection zone there will also be no construction activity including but not limited to no root cutting, no alteration or disturbance to existing grades of any kind, no changes to the grade by adding fill, excavating or scraping, no storage of construction materials or equipment, no stockpiling of soil, debris or construction waste, & no movement or storage of heavy vehicles or equipment. Tree protection barriers must be included and priced as part of the project. For short term project (up to 2 months), standard T-bars and plastic safety fence can be used. For a longer term project, use 10guage chain link fence and standard T-bars. In all cases, standard T-bars should not be spaced more than 6 to 7 feet apart. These protection barriers must be erected before the project starts, must be maintained throughout the project, and taken down when final inspection and signoffs are completed. All of our TDSB trees over 30 cm. dbh (diameter breast height) are protected by City by-laws and must not be removed, injured or destroyed in any way without written authorization from the City. Contractor shall notify TDSB before excavating near trees. For all roofing and mechanical work, the Contractor shall follow the Industry Standard with respect to the Hot Work Program. 5 of 5
