1 REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS KENN BOREK AQUATIC CENTRE TILE REPAIR & REPLACEMENT No The City of Dawson Creek is requesting quotations for the repair and replacement of tile and grout at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre, including the competition pool tank, the leisure pool tank, Jacuzzi, steam room, tots pool and sauna. All contract documents can be downloaded at The Proponent is solely responsible for ensuring any addenda are downloaded, reviewed and included in their bid. Questions regarding specifications can be directed to Duncan Redfearn, Deputy Director of Community Services, City of Dawson Creek, at Unless alternate arrangements have been made prior to, there is a mandatory site tour scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 1:00 pm. Preference will be given to proposals that specify compliance with the preferred work schedule. Quotations will be accepted up to 2:00 p.m. (local time) Tuesday, July 12, Proposals must be submitted in a sealed opaque envelope, clearly marked with the supplier name and the project name/number and will be received by Brenda Ginter, Director of Corporate Administration, Box 150, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4G4 or at City Hall, A Street, Dawson Creek.. It is the sole responsibility of the Bidder to ensure that its Bid is received at the above location and by the time stipulated. Bids received after the stipulated time will be rejected and returned to the Bidder unopened. Faxed Bids are not acceptable and will be rejected. The City reserves the right to accept or reject all or any bids and to waive any informality, incompleteness or error in any bid.

2 Scope of Work The City of Dawson Creek shall be responsible to drain all pool tanks 1 (one) day prior to contractor commencing work. Contractor Responsibilities: All necessary preparation to be the responsibility of the contractor, to ensure compliance with manufacturers regulations and validate any warranty (ies) Sound all floor tiles throughout ALL change room, shower and toilet areas and identify areas for future tile repair/replacement. Pressure wash all areas to be re-grouted to remove loose existing grout and to neutralize chemicals used in water treatment. Contractor must ensure that the work is completed in such a manner as to protect the pool filtration system. Inspect pool tanks and walls for rust spots. Remove tiles, chisel out concrete, and grind back rebar within one square foot of rusts spots. Patch concrete, isolate spots with kerdi membrane, and replace tiles. Replace expansion joints in all identified areas excluding competition pool. Re-grout with epoxy grout: o Gutters around all tanks within 9 from pool edge o Steam room ceiling, walls, and floor o All walls and floors of pools including hot tub Supply all materials and handle, mix, and apply all materials according to manufacturer specifications Supply and install all necessary scaffolding and/or hoarding Remove and replace ledge in competition pool All work to be completed between September 4 th and September 16 th, All work to be guaranteed and warrantied for a minimum of one year following completion date.

6 CITY OF DAWSON CREEK CODE OF CONDUCT - CONTRACTORS The relationship between City employees and representatives of contractors providing service to the City is critical to achieving the goals and objectives of the Corporation of the City of Dawson Creek. In providing the highest level of service possible, it is essential that all representatives of the Contractor work together with City staff in a co-operative and congenial manner, always respecting established lines of authority. The efficiency of City operations and the image the Corporation presents to the public may be influenced by any breakdown in the relationship between the Contractor s representatives and City employees. Therefore, the Contractor s representatives are expected to convey a friendly, approachable, positive and helpful attitude to City employees and to be honest, trustworthy, reliable, dependable and punctual in all workplace activities. Contractors unable to demonstrate an ability to meet this standard may be disqualified from the bidding process. Successful bidders subsequently failing to meet this standard should expect termination of any contractual relationship with the City. 8 Contractor Requirements 1. All work must be meet BC Building Code regulations and be of trade quality. 2. The Contractor is responsible for all tools and equipment. 3. The Contractor must be knowledgeable in all areas of the scope of the work. 4. The Contractor must carry a City of Dawson Creek business license. The license must be kept in good standing for the term of the Contract. 5. The Contractor must carry a valid WorkSafe BC number and be able to produce a clearance letter. All work must adhere to WorkSafe BC requirements and regulations. 6. A copy of the Company s Health and Safety program must be filed with the City. 7. Minimum $5,000,000 Liability Insurance with the City named as Additional Insured.
