1 MUSC Psychiatric Hospital CRI Air-Cooled Chiller Replacement Project H FW-A ADDENDUM NO. 01 The following items shall take precedence over the drawings and specifications for the above named project and shall become a part of the contract documents. Where any item called for in the specifications, or indicated on the drawings, is not supplemented hereby, the original requirements shall remain in effect. Where any original item is amended, voided, or superseded hereby, the provisions of such item not specifically amended, voided or superseded shall remain in effect. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the appropriate space on the Bid Form. Failure to do so may subject the bidder to disqualification. Attachments Drawings MD101, M101 and M501 Trane data sheet indicating RTAE 275 point load and support mounting locations. General 1. None Clarifications 1. Glycol shall be propylene. 2. Disposal of glycol/water solution by MUSC personnel. 3. Per Trane s data sheets, the RTAE machines pipe from the end of the barrel not the side. 4. No heat tape required on chilled water lines. 5. Project is not required to be complete over a weekend. 6. The chiller lift will need to be done over the weekend and coordinated with MUSC? 7. Pipe Insulation shall comply with the following: a. Foam glass shall be used for exterior applications. Seal with mastic. The insulation shall be covered with SS 304 lagging of 0.020" thickness and sealed with air and water tight material. Lagging shall be held in place with SS 304 straps, stainless steel wire or stainless steel screws. SS304 lagging fittings shall be used. The texture of both the lagging and fittings shall be stucco embossed. b. Insulation for fittings shall be pre-formed and/or full thickness of the same material as the insulation on the piping. Sectional pieces of standard insulation may be used on the larger size fittings. The use of fiberglass duct wrap at fittings is not allowed. 8. Chilled water piping shall comply with the following: a. Chilled water piping shall be schedule 40 black steel conforming to ASTM A53, Grade B. b. The chilled water system is designed for not less than 125 psig and 40 degrees F. System components shall be suitable for maximum working pressure of ANSI Class 15 Revisions to Project Manual 1. 4 GENERAL HVAC DEMOLITION NOTES: 1. CROSSHATCHING INDICATES EXISTING ITEMS AND ASSOCIATED MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED. 2. DRAWINGS INDICATE APPROXIMATE ROUTING OF PIPING AND MAJOR COMPONENTS AND DO NOT INCLUDE ALL OFFSETS, FITTINGS, VALVES, ETC. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EXACT SIZE AND ROUTING PRIOR TO REMOVAL OR RELOCATION. CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVAL OF MISCELLANEOUS MECHANICAL ITEMS LOCATED ON OR IN ANY WALLS TO BE REMOVED. 11/23/ EXISTING CHILLED WATER SUPPLY AND RETURN AND MPS PIPING TO REMAIN. 4. CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING CARRIER AIR-COOLED CHILLER AND DISPOSE OF SAFELY AND LEGALLY. 5. DISCONNECT EXISTING CHILLED WATER SUPPLY AND RETURN AS REQUIRED TO REMOVE EXISTING CHILLER AND INSTALL NEW CHILLER. CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT PIPING DURING CONSTRUCTION. SEE NOTE #3 SEE NOTE #5 6. EXISTING INSULATION OR JACKETING DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION / CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES SHALL BE REPAIRED WITH SIMILAR MATERIALS. 7. ISOLATION VALVE DIRECTLY BELOW CHILLER. SHOWN FOR CLARITY (TYP). CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EXISTING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO START OF ANY WORK, AND SHALL NOTIFY THE ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY OF ANY DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS AND THE ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS. NO WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN THE AFFECTED AREA UNTIL A RESOLUTION HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. PHOTO EXISTING 12"CWS & R 10. CONTRACTOR SHALL REUSE EXISTING WIRING AND RECONNECT BACK TO EXISTING EMS CENTRAL MONITORING STATION 5. EXISTING CHILLED WATER SUPPLY AND RETURN PIPING TO REMAIN. 6. (NOTE THAT ONCE THE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE, THE EQUIPMENT WILL BE LIFTED ¼ ABOVE THIS INITIAL ELEVATION.) 4) FOR 2 SPRING UNITS, TURN BOTH OF THE LEVELING BOLTS 1 TURN COUNTER-CLOCKWISE AT EACH ISOLATOR LOCATION. CONTINUE DOING THIS MOVING AROUND THE PIECE OF EQUPMENT UNTIL THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TOP PLATE LIFTS APPROX 1/32 OFF OF THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE BOTTOM HOUSING AT ONE LOCATION. ONCE CLEARANCE IS OBSERVED BETWEEN THE RESTRAINT ELEMENT AND THE BOTTOM HOUSING, STOP ADJUSTING THAT PARTICULAR ISOLATOR, BUT CONTINUE TO ADJUST THE REMAINDER UNTIL APPROX 1/32 CLEARANCE IS OBSERVED AT ALL LOCATIONS. 5) FOR 4 SPRING UNITS, PEFORM STEP 4 USING ALL 4 LEVELING BOLTS ON EACH ISOLATOR. 6) ONCE ALL SUPPORT POINTS SHOW CLEARANCE, TURN ALL OF THE LEVELING BOLTS ON ALL ISOLATORS 2 ADDITIONAL TURNS TO CENTER THE VERTICAL RESTRAINT ELEMENT IN THE RESTRAINT POCKET. 7) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE ISOLATORS LATERALLY WITH THE WEIGHT OF THE EQUIPMENT ON THEM. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO MOVE THE EQUIPMENT, LIFT THE EQUIPMENT APPROX ¼ (UNTIL THE WEIGHT IS OFF THE ISOLATOR) SHIFT IT AND THEN SET IT BACK DOWN. NOTE: IF THE EQUIPMENT SUPPORT STEEL IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE LONG AXIS OF THE ISOLATOR, AN ADDITIONAL PLATE OF ADEQUATE THICKNESS TO FULLY SUPPORT THE OVERHANGING EARS OF THE TITAN ISOLATOR MUST BE FITTED. NOTES 1. LIFTING CHAINS/CABLES WILL NOT BE SAME LENGTH. ADJUST TO KEEP UNIT LEVEL WHILE LIFTING. 2. DO NOT FORK LIFT UNIT. 3. WEIGHTS ARE TYPICAL FOR UNITS WITH R-134A CHARGE.
