16 Material Evaluation - Heavy Metals Test Method: Food simulant, temperature selection and condition of test used simulate the intended use of the product and follow the guidance in EC 1935/2004 and the FDA Food Contact Notification Chemistry Guideline. Heavy metals in the exposure solution are analyzed by ICPMS. Requirements: No materials shall contain arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead and mercury as intentionally added ingredients. Except for glass, ceramic, and enamel, the heavy metal limits for all material types are as follows: Arsenic 10 ug/l, Cadmium 10 ug/l, Hexavalent Chromium 10 ug/l, Lead 10 ug/l and Mercury 0.2 ug/l. For materials where Chromium is intentionally added, then the hexavalent Cr pass/fail limit is 50 ug/l.
