1 Texas Tech University Health Sciences Campus - MSBII Supplemental Bid Instructions March 3, 2017 Automatic Fire Suppression Without limiting the application of all of the Contract Documents to the Subcontract, the following Specifications set forth the Scope of Work in this Subcontract: Division 0 Contracting Requirements (All Sections Complete) Division 1 General Requirements (All Sections Complete) Division 7 Thermal and Moisture Protection Section Penetration Firestopping (As it applies to this scope) Section Joint Sealants (As it applies to this scope) Division 8 Openings Section Access Doors and Frames (As it applies to this scope) Division 20 Mechanical Requirements Section General Mechanical Requirements Section Mechanical Supporting Devices Section Mechanical Systems Identification Section Mechanical Systems Firestopping Section Mechanical Systems Insulation Division 21 Fire Suppression Section General Fire Suppression Requirements Section Standpipe System Section Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Division 31 Earthwork Section Excavation (As it relates to this scope) Section Site Rough Grading (As it relates to this scope) Section Backfilling (As it relates to this scope) Section Trenching (As it relates to this scope) Division 33 Utilities Section Water Utility Distribution System (Fire Lines) Scope of work shall include the cost of all the necessary labor, material, hoisting, scaffolding, tools, equipment, supplies, engineering and supervision required to furnish, install and complete the Fire Protection Scope of Work in accordance with the plans, specifications, and instructions contained herein. As a further clarification, the work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

2 TTUHSC - MSBII Page 2 1. A fully designed, engineered and approved fire sprinkler system, protecting both the structure and all improved areas below ceilings. The system shall conform to the plans, specifications, City of El Paso, NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24, 30, 45, 72 and 101 latest Editions, 2012 International Building Codes (IBC), 2012 International Fire Codes (IFC), Local and State Building, Mechanical and Fire Codes, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual Global (FMG), Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FMRC), Texas Tech Standards and all applicable agencies and their requirements. 2. Include all service lines, branch lines, standpipes, manifolds, heads, pipe supports, braces, valves, fittings, flow alarm valves, tamper switches, fire alarm bells, inspector test valve and any/all other code requirements. 3. Include all fire water service distribution within the buildings from point of connection on site. 4. From a point of connection behind the curb include all onsite underground fire lines, loops, hydrants, FDC s, backflow preventers, valves, valve boxes, connectors, thrust blocks etc. for a complete and functioning system. 5. All excavation, backfill and compaction to meet all requirements as outlined in the Contract Documents, including the Soils Report. 6. Dust Control as required to carry out this scope of work is included in this Scope of Work. 7. Provide import of engineered fill as required by the Contract Documents. Remove off site any spoils material that is not suitable for use as backfill to an onsite location as designated by Sundt Construction. 8. Multiple mobilizations as required to meet the Project Schedule. 9. Final adjustments to finish grade of all manholes, valves, cleanouts and the like in all areas. 10. All trench safety including shoring as required to meet OSHA requirements. 11. All plan preparation, fees, design costs, permits, and approvals as required by local Fire Marshall and authorities. This subcontractor shall coordinate all Fire Marshall submittals and obtain all approvals required. 12. All required provisions to accommodate central station monitoring by others. 13. Comply with all shop drawing and submittal requirements. 14. Sprinkler cabinet with spare heads and wrench as required or indicated on the Contract Documents. 15. Furnish and install all system drains and valves.

3 TTUHSC - MSBII Page All Factory Mutual, local Fire Marshall and all other governing agency's tests and inspections including reports. 17. Installation of access doors is by others. This subcontractor is to furnish all access doors with mounting hardware and any required layout for doors as required by this trade. 18. Caulking, sealing and flashing as required to ensure a sound weather/water tight condition at all penetrations. Include fire safing and caulking rated wall and floor penetrations including pipe sleeves at floor penetrations to maintain fire ratings as required. 19. Furnish and install all vibration isolation, seismic & expansion joints as required. 20. All waste water from system testing shall be contained and channeled out of the structure. Water is not to spill open onto finished slab or damage other finished work. 21. Furnish and install all required sleeves for roof, slab and wall penetrations. 22. Include all cutting, sleeving, anchorage, coring, strapping, etc., to complete this work. 23. Include all access and scaffolding to complete this work. 19. Include all testing as required for all systems installed under this scope of work. 20. Include layout of all work provided under this scope. 21. Include all piping and valve identification required for this scope of work. 22. Design criteria of proposed densities for all areas is to be included and described with bid proposal. 23. All piping shall be suspended from building structure and will be seismically braced in strict accordance with NFPA requirements. 24. Provide and install tamper switches on detector check back flow valve assemblies for monitoring by others. 25. Complete as-builts and diagrams of the building fire sprinkler permanently mounted under glass or plastic as required or called for in the Contract Documents. 26. Subcontractor shall coordinate, call and conduct all inspections by the fire authority having jurisdiction. 27. At all shell spaces and as required by code, provide all upright heads to provide coverage as required.

4 TTUHSC - MSBII Page Furnish and install all pre-action fire sprinkler systems as required and as indicated on the Contract Documents. 29. Furnish and install standpipes as required and as indicated on the Contract Documents. 30. Furnish and install fire pump and all associated valves, piping, controls, equipment, etc. for a complete system as required and as indicated on the Contract Documents. 31. Daily Task Hazard Analysis paperwork shall be completed, communicated to crew, and filed in Sundt Construction jobsite office. 32. Sundt's Project Superintendent must be notified as to the shipping and delivery dates for ALL materials and equipment seventy-two (72) hours prior to shipping and twenty-four (24) hours prior to delivery. 33. Storage and staging area(s) are as designated by Contractor. Subcontractor is responsible to receive, inventory, offload, stock, store, secure, and protect from weather all materials delivered. Subcontractor receipt and inventory shall be recorded on Contractor QC Material Delivery Checklist. Any time and cost associated with Subcontractor failing to have personnel onsite to receive material will be the responsibility of the Subcontractor. 34. Subcontractor shall have a designated QC and Safety individual onsite at all times while they are working on the project. Subcontractor personnel assigned these duties must provide complete QC and Safety documentation in a timely manner as dictated by the project requirements. 35. All Project BIM Requirements as outlined in the bid documents are specifically included in this subcontract agreement. 36. Subcontractor shall prepare coordination drawings where space is limited to facilitate the installation of work by Subcontractor and other subcontractors prior to commencement of the work. Subcontractor shall not be reimbursed for changes to the work due to failure to coordinate the work with other trades. 37. All Fire Suppression Scope as described in the "ATTACHMENT F - TRADE INTERFACE AGREEEMENT" in coordination with the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical subcontractors. 38. This Subcontractor shall comply with all of the documents that have been issued with this package as described and listed on the Sundt Construction Invitation to Bid for any information not defined in the 100% Design Development Documents issued by Perkins+Will.
