1 Typical interior finishes at the Main Building consist of VCT flooring, plaster walls, and lay in ceilings at classrooms and instructional spaces Corridors have terrazzo flooring and partial height glazed masonry at the walls Plaster walls both in the classrooms and at the corridors have vinyl wall covering which has been painted over with multiple layers of paint Wall covering at most walls has curled or peeled up at the seams or around door and window openings Additionally, plaster walls need resurfacing or patching to restore them with a smooth wall surface Rolled carpet is severely stained and worn, and should be replaced with new material Lay-in ceilings at the classrooms were installed when the building received an air conditioning system Thus, the ceiling system slopes up to the top of the window frames This portion of ceiling has 2x4 tiles installed at an angle, which are typically cupped and sagging 2x4 ceiling tiles are not in accordance with district standards Exterior window frames have been painted many times over the years without proper preparation or glazing compound The layers of paint have rendered the windows inoperable several windows cannot close, since the lever is fixed in place Single pane windows throughout the facility create challenges when attempting to maximize the building s energy efficiency In some cases, classroom windows have paint on each glazed panel in order to minimize the heat gain within the room These spaces offer no direct daylight or views to the outdoors Wood casework and shelving units at the Main Building show heavy wear Some casework doors are warped and do not close properly Wood casework at the Science and Art Buildings is in good condition
