Surface Civil Works/ Rasuwa Construction Co. The construction of civil surface works including hydro-mechanical works of the project, which includes the construction of headworks, desilting basin, water conductor pipe, penstock pipe, powerhouse, tailrace and switchyard and all related hydro-mechanical works, was awarded to MS Rasuwa Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. in February Considering the necessity of smooth coordination between civil and hydro-mechanical works, the HM works were included in contract package II along with civil works. The prime contractor Rasuwa Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Machhapuchhre Metal and Machinery Works (3MW) as nominated subcontractor, which is doing all the hydro-mechanical works of the project. Diversion Weir, Intake and Feeder Pipe Intake structure including embedment parts, under sluice portion of diversion weir, apron slab, right bank shear wall etc. are completed. Spillway portion and left bank shear wall is under construction. The construction of spillway portion block 4, 5 and 8 are going on. The civil works of feeder pipe alignment along with the installation of feeder pipe is going on. About 40 m of feeder pipe has been installed. A temporary access to the desilting basin has been made across the Dordi Khola for the construction activities to the right bank of Dordi Khola. Construction works at diversion weir Desilting Basin The construction of Desilting basin structure is not in the critical path and hence given less priority than other structure. However, construction of the desilting basin structure is continued even in slow pace. The base part of the structure has completed throughout the length and the structural concreting works up to the top level of slope part is almost completed. The shear walls of first block of both the bays has raised up to top design level. Construction Works at Desilting Basin Monthly Progress Report 5

Water Conductor Pipe & Penstock Pipe Alignment and Valve house The excavation of the trench for the buried WCP is being continued by the nominated subcontractor Machhapuchhre Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (MEPL), a sister company of 3MW. About 450 m of WCP has been installed till date. However, excavation works are going on from different fronts. MEPL has also started excavation for the anchor blocks followed by first stage concreting for the penstock pipe. The bends at the anchor blocks are being installed and straight penstock Installation of WCP pipes are being delivered to the site from the workshop at headworks. The trenches for the penstock pipes are being excavated. The construction of valve house which is situated immediate after the tunnel outlet and beginning of the penstock pipe shall be started only after completion of tunneling works. Power House Installation of Feeder Pipes The powerhouse structure is situated at the left bank of Marsyangdi River. Foundation excavation, laying of earth mat and blinding concreting of powerhouse foundation is completed for all the three units. The structural concreting of the machine foundation has been raised up to EL m with first embedded E&M parts and installation of penstock pipe with reducer for Powerhouse construction works Monthly Progress Report 6

all the three units. The concreting works of shear walls, columns, deck walls are being continued. The shear walls of unit three and deck wall have raised up to m and rebar & formwork placing at unit one and two are continuing. Scaffolding works for the tail pool slab are going on. Underground Civil Works/Tunnel The excavation work in the tunnel from outlet side is continuing normally but from inlet side rectification works are performing with injecting grout materials. Total progress achieved up to the end of April 2018 is 1330m (50%) Excavation from Inlet Because of very poor rockmass condition and debris with water flow from crown part, the advancing of tunneling was going on by consolidating crown and face by cement grouting with heading and benching. Because very poor geological condition, geophysical investigation along the tunnel alignment was conducted to evaluate the rack mass condition further ahead to explore the possibility of alignment shift. But the result of the investigation did not show the better condition even around periphery area to change the alignment. The same condition has been expected up to further 250m ahead. The excavation progress achieved till the end of April 2018 is 338m. Excavation from Outlet The advancing of the tunnel is going on with frequent full face two blasts per day with rib support as the quality of rockmass is still poor. The excavation progress achieved till the end of April 2018 is 992 m. HRT Faces from Inlet (half crown rib installation) and Outlet (Geological Mapping after blasting) Hydro-Mechanical Works The hydro-mechanical works of contract package II is being conducted by the nominated subcontractor Machhapuchhre Metal and Machinery Works Pvt. Ltd. (3MW). 3MW has already installed the embedded metallic parts along with gate/stoplog frames at undersluice, Intake, Desilting Basin and Draft Tube at powerhouse. As per the progress in civil works along the water conductor pipe alignment, the installation of WCP is going on since the required pipes have sufficiently already fabricated. About 450 m WCP has been installed. The penstock pipe stretches along with reducer at the powerhouse, which will be connected later with Main Inlet Valve (MIV) have been installed for all the units. The anchor blocks and bends connecting to the reducers are being installed. Monthly Progress Report 7

Installation of Penstock AB6 and WCP Electro-Mechanical Works The electro-mechanical works including supply and installation of equipment was awarded to Voith Hydro Private Ltd. under the contract package IV. Voith has already delivered three units of generator sets, LAVT, NGT panels, EOT and HOT cranes at site. Generator transformers, MIV, turbine, PPV, Spiral Casing, switchyard equipment etc. have already been dispatched and waiting for custom clearance at the India border side. Various equipments are in the progress of crossing the Indian border through Birgunj Vansar. Because of the lagging in civil works progress, the equipment dispatched/ delivered are being stored at the Army yard at Udipur near the powerhouse area. As per the extended RCOD, a revised construction schedule has been prepared and sent to Voith for rescheduling of their service/installation program. MIV Inspection MIV Transformer Transmission Line/Power Evacuation Grid connection agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority was concluded to evacuate the generated power in proposed Udipur Hub by 1.2 km 132 kv single circuit Transmission Line. Construction of Udipur Hub and transmission line along the Marsyangdi Corridor by NEA, is delayed and expected to be completed by Subsequently RCOD has been extended up to 31 st August Monthly Progress Report 8

5 Environmental Mitigation, Social Support and Land Acquisition o o Environmental mitigation Geo-environmental Unit in the project site has been already established to address environmental mitigation works. Bio-engineering and slope stability works are going on along water conductor/service road alignment. Bio-engineering Works Along WCP alignment o Social support Social support to local communities in project affected areas such as construction/ improvement of local roads, drinking water schemes, support to community schools, rural electrification etc. are going on under this heading. Drinking Water Storage and Distribution Tank built with the support of the project at Syaut. Bal Bikash Ni.Ma.Bi. School Building at Ramchowk Besi built with with the support of the project o o Land acquisition Acquisition of private land for headworks, water conducto (pipe line), penstock pipe and power house almost completed. Ownership tittle of 205 ropani land has been transferred to HPPL. Government Approval for tree falling and use of forest land Approval for tree cutting and use of forest land for construction of surge shaft was granted on April 2017 only. The process for tree cutting for surge shaft is underway. Monthly Progress Report 9
