1 Edition Urethane Wood Flooring Adhesive Description Features Installation is a multi-function urethane moisture barrier and wood-flooring adhesive. Designed to install material such as: laminated / engineered flooring and parquet flooring over concrete. Application of this product gives the moisture barrier and the wood flooring adhesive in one easy trowel on application. Significantly reduces installation time compared to most standard moisture barrier / adhesive systems. Vastly reduces installation costing. Low V.O.C and low odor. Trowel ridge holding and non-slump. Offers easy application with good wet / green grab. Final cured product yields a superior moisture barrier and wood flooring adhesive. Thoroughly read and understand this data sheet prior to use of the product. Before using LocBond 2000 on areas over 5000 square feet, we recommend you to contact a LocBond representative at so this important datasheet can be reiterated. Surface Preparation Surfaces such as concrete, cement-based backer boards, terrazzo and thoroughly abraded ceramic tile must be dry and free of dirt, loose particles, Paint overspray. oil, wax, grease or any other substance which may affect adhesion. Floor level must not vary beyond 1/8 per 10 feet. If some materials prove hard to remove during preparation, surface abrasion such as sand blasting or some similar method must be used. If the flooring is clearly wet or damp or appears to have moisture present, correct the problem before using LocBond A Calcium Chloride test must be performed. (Using an anhydrous calcium chloride test kit according to ASTM F-1869 test method). Floor Moisture Content Guidelines If the floor appears or feels damp or moist or may be susceptible to moisture, pre-test the floor for moisture using a ASTM F 1869 calcium chloride moisture content test method. If the moisture level tests higher than 10 lbs. per 1000 sqft. per 24 hours, do not use the product, as moisture at this level indicates significant moisture problems, which must be addressed prior to flooring 1

2 installation. If the moisture is at or below 10 lbs., proceed with the application. A Calcium Chloride test must be always performed or warranty is voided. (Using an anhydrous calcium chloride test kit according to ASTM F-1869 test method). Application and Method Product is applied using a continuous v-notch trowel, having teeth width of 1/4 and depth of 3/16. The trowel must be replaced every 500 square feet. The use of any other trowel to apply the product will void all warranties and claims made by Parkay Floors regarding the product. Trowel out the LocBond 2000 like a standard urethane wood flooring adhesive, ensuring 100% coverage of the area where the wood flooring is to be installed. Product will achieve coverage of approximately 40 square feet per gallon. Immediately following trowel application, wet lay the wood flooring, insuring 100% contact between the wood flooring and the LocBond 2000 and tape the flooring, ensuring all defective flooring is discarded prior to installation. Floor traffic should be light for 12 hours, as excessive traffic can damage the moisture retardation effect of the LocBond Full traffic can resume after 12 hours. Clean any spilled product with mineral spirits prior to curing. Follow the cautionary dialogue on the mineral spirits container, as mineral spirits is flammable. LocBond 2000 can be used to install the following wood flooring types: 3 ply, 5 ply and multi-ply engineered plank up to 7 1/4 wide and up to 3/4 thick. Finger block parquet 1/2 thick or less and up to 3 wide. For standard protection, wear safety glasses and disposable gloves. Packaging and Shelf Life Product is packaged in a metal pail which keeps it stable for one year in the unopened pail (store under ambient conditions in a dry area). Cured material is not considered hazardous. Partially used containers can have their original lid replaced and sealed. Upon the next use, remove the lid, cut away and discard any skin formation and proceed with application. Limitations Do not use over concrete treated with sealers or curatives. Do not use over gypsum based patches or underlayments. Do not use for below grade applications. Product will not negate excessive sub floor moisture problems such as hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure occurs when the sub floor restricts a body of water from flowing along its normal path. This pressure is unpredictable and can cause failure of the sub floor and any associated coating or barrier system. Do not use if the floor moisture is outside the floor moisture content guidelines. 2

Limited Warranty Parkay Floors warrants to be effective in installing and protecting wood flooring which is installed over floors which push up to 10 pounds of moisture per 1000 square feet per 24 hours based on the ASTM F 1869 calcium chloride test method and to be in accordance with its technical properties as outlined on its data sheet for 10 years following the date of installation, providing the product has been stored in accordance with its data sheet, used within the duration of its shelf life and applied in full compliance with its data sheet. The user of this product determines its suitability for any intended use and assumes all associated risks thereof. This warranty is to the original purchaser. This warranty is not assignable or transferable. In the event of a warranty claim, Parkay Floors shall pay for reasonable material for a one-time replacement of the area, which is defective as a result of the LocBond 2000 and not other factors as deemed by Parkay Floors. Some examples of other factors which are not covered by this warranty would be: poor preparation of the sub-floor, poor product application practices, poor maintenance and replacement practices of the application trowel, hydrostatic pressure of water through the sub-floor, flooding, movement of water from other areas, overly high relative humidity and any type of damage which cannot 3

4 be proven to be the result of excessive moisture migration through the LocBond 2000 due to standard atmospheric humidity and pressure changes. Buyers sole remedy shall be limited to the one time replacement price of the aforementioned material exclusive of labor or cost of labor. No warranty other than the aforementioned is expressed or implied regarding this product, including any warranty for the sale of this product for a particular application. Parkay Floors assumes no responsibility for personal injury or property damage to sellers, users or third parties caused by this material. Such sellers or users assume all risks associated with this material. Parkay Floors warrants this product to be in accordance with its technical properties as outlined on its data sheet for a period not exceeding 12 months following the date of installation, providing the Parkay Floors product has been stored in accordance with its data sheet, used within the duration of its shelf life and applied in full compliance with its data sheet. No warranty on bamboo flooring products. The user of this product determines its suitability for any intended use and assumes all associated risks thereof. In the event of a warranty claim, Parkay Floors shall pay for reasonable material for a one time replacement of the area which is defective as a result of the adhesive as deemed by Parkay Floors. Sole remedy for buyer shall be limited to the replacement price of the aforementioned material exclusive of labor or cost of labor. It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to determine the suitability of the product for use with a particular flooring product or for a particular type of installation, and any recommendation by LocBond regarding use of the product is not intended to be a warranty that the product is suitable for a particular application. It is the buyer s obligation to test the suitability of the product for an intended use prior to using it. This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state. This Warranty replaces and supersedes all prior warranties that may appear to apply to the product you have purchased. Exclusions: This Warranty does not cover damage resulting from: Structural failure, faulty structural design, structural movement, excessive structural deflection or other failure of substrate, inadequate subflooring, or improper preparation of substrate or subfloor Excessive substrate moisture; moisture due to improper preparation of substrate; exposure to excessive levels of atmospheric moisture or humidity; or exposure to water from flooding, leaks, puddling, hydrostatic head, or any source of moisture that does not originate from the sub-floor. Exposure to excessively low or high temperatures or humidity Natural disasters, including but not limited to earthquakes, fires, floods, or hurricanes; accidents; or other unexpected circumstances 4

5 Normal wear and tear Misuse; improper alteration, modification, or dilution of product; exposure to corrosive materials or contaminants; industrial applications subject to chemical or mechanical abuse; improper maintenance or use of cleaning products; failure to use product within its shelf life; or any other failure to install and maintain floor in accordance with (i) LocBond s most recent Technical Data Sheet and any other instructions, guidelines and data published by LocBond regarding the product, (ii) the flooring manufacturer s instructions, guidelines and data, (iii) applicable building codes, and (iv) standard industry guidelines and practices. Remedy for Breach of Warranty: In the event of a valid claim under this Limited Warranty, as buyer s sole remedy, LocBond shall pay the reasonable cost of materials, on a square foot basis, necessary to repair or replace the portion of the original installation that is proven to be defective. IN NO CASE WILL LOCBOND BE LIABLE FOR DIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, ECONOMIC, OR OTHER DAMAGES. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you. Making a Claim: This Warranty is to the original purchaser and is not transferable or assignable. Any claims must be made within 30 days of discovery of an alleged failure to conform to specifications or an alleged manufacturing defect. Written proof of purchase must be submitted with the notice of claim. LocBond must be provided an opportunity to inspect the floor, and to take samples of materials used in the floor installation, prior to any repair or replacement work. IF ANY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WORK IS DONE BEFORE LOCBOND IS GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO INSPECT THE FLOOR AND TAKE SAMPLES, THIS WARRANTY WILL BE VOID. 8 Due to the low V.O.C. nature of this product, respiratory protection is not normally required. However, if PEL / TLV levels may potentially be exceeded, use NIOSH / MSHA approved respirator. Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses or goggles as necessary to protect eyes. Skin Contact: Protective gloves are recommended in situations when direct skin contact is unavoidable (nitrile, rubber or better). Other Protective Equipment: Use other types of equipment as needed to help minimize contact.
