1 MISCELLANEOUS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REPAIRS Tl SECTION CHAIN LINK FENCES AND GATES PART 1- GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY Section Includes: 1. Chain-link fences. 2. Gates: Swing Related sections include the following: 1. Division 2 Section "Selective Structure Demolition" for demolition of existing fence. 1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Delegated Design: Design chain-link fences and gates using performance requirements and design criteria indicated. Structural Performance: Chain-link fence and gate framework shall withstand the effects of gravity loads and the following loads and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated according to ASCE/SEI 7: 1. Minimum Post Size: Determine according to ASTM F 1043 for framework up to 12 feet high, and post spacing not to exceed 10 feet. 2. Minimum Post Size and Maximum Spacing: Determine according to CLFMI WLG 2445, based on mesh size and pattern specified and on the following: a. Exposure Category: C. b. Fence Height: 72 inches. Material Group: la, ASTM F 1043, Schedule 40 steel pipe. C. Lightning Protection System: Maximum grounding-resistance value of25 ohms under normal dry conditions. 1.4 SUBMITTALS Product Data: For each type of product indicated: Include construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and fmishes for chain-link fences and gates. 1. Fence and gate posts, rails, and fittings. 2. Chain-link fabric, reinforcements, and attachments. 3. Gates and hardware. Shop Drawings: Include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work. Show accessories, hardware, gate operation, and operational clearances. C. Operation and Maintenance Data: For the following to include in emergency, operation, and maintenance manuals: CHAIN LINK FENCES AND GATES

2 MISCELLANEOUS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REPAIRS 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced Installer who has at least three (3) years experience and has completed at least (5) five chain link fence projects with same material and of similar scope to that indicated for this project with a successful construction record of in-service perfonnance. Single-Source Responsibility: Obtain chain link fences and gates, including accessories, fittings, and fastenings fi-om a single source. 1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS Field Measurements: Verify layout information for chain-link fences and gates shown on Drawings in relation to property survey and existing structures. Verify dimensions by field measurements. 1.7 WARRANTY Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which Installer agrees to repair or replace components of chainlink fences and gates that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. 1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following: a. Faulty operation of gate. b. Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials beyond normal weathering. 2. Warranty Period: Two (2) years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2- PRODUCTS 2.1 CHAIN-LINKFENCEFABRIC General: Provide fabric in one-piece heights measured between top and bottom of outer edge of selvage lmuckle or twist. Comply with CLFMI Product Manual and with requirements indicated below: 1. Fabric Height: As Indicated. 2. Steel Wire Fabric: Wire with a diameter of0.148 inch, 9 gauge. a. Mesh Size: 2 inches. b. Zinc-Coated Fabric: ASTM A 392, Type II, Class 2, 2.0 oz./sq. ft. with zinc coating applied after weaving. Coat selvage ends of fabric that is metallic coated before the weaving process with manufacturer's standard clear protective coating. 3. Selvage: Twisted and Barbed top and bottom. 2.2 FENCE FRAMING Posts and Rails: Comply with ASTM F 1043 for framing, including rails, braces, and line; terminal; and comer posts. Provide members with minimum dimensions and wall thickness according to ASTM F 1083 based on the following: 1. Fence Height: As Indicated. 2. Heavy Industrial Strength: Material Group IA, round steel pipe, Schedule 40. a. Line Post: inches in diameter. b. End, Comer and Pull Post: 3" inches in diameter. 3. Horizontal Framework Members: Intermediate and bottom rails complying with ASTM F a. Intermediate and Bottom Rail: 1.66 inches in diameter. 4. 3 2.3 TENSION WIRE Metallic-Coated Steel Wire: inch- (4.5-mm-) diameter, marcelled tension wire complying with ASTM A 817 and ASTM A 824, with the following metallic coating: 1. Type II, zinc coated (galvanized) by hot-dip process, with the following minimum coating weight: a. Class 5: Not less than 2 oz./sq. ft. (610 g/sq. m) of uncoated wire surface. 2.4 SWING GATES General: Comply with ASTM F 900 for gate posts and double swing gate types. 1. Gate LeafWidth: As indicated. 2. Gate Fabric Height: As Indicated. Pipe and Tubing: 1. Zinc-Coated Steel: Comply with ASTM F 1043 and ASTM F 1083; protective coating and finish to match fence framing. 2. Gate Posts: Round tubular steel. 3. Gate Frames and Bracing: Round tubular steel. C. Frame Comer Construction: Welded. D. Hardware: 2.5 FITTINGS 1. Hinges: 360-degree inward and outward sized to suit gate size, non-lift-off type. 2. Latches permitting operation from both sides of gate with provision for padlocking accessible from both sides of gate. a. FL Provide hardware mechanism to hold gates in open position. General: Comply with ASTM F 626. Post and Line Caps: Provide weathertight closure cap for each post. 1. Provide line post caps with loop to receive tension wire or top rail. C. Rail and Brace Ends: For each gate, corner, pull, and end post. D. Rail Fittings: Provide the following: 1. Top Rail Sleeves: Pressed-steel or round-steel tubing not less than 6 inches long. 2. Rail Clamps: Line and comer boulevard clamps for connecting intermediate and bottom rails in the fence line-to-line posts. E. Tension and Brace Bands: Pressed steel. F. Tension Bars: Steel, length not less than 2 inches shorter than full height of chain-link fabri Provide one bar for each gate and end post, and two for each comer and pull post, unless fabric is integrally woven into post. G. Truss Rod Assemblies: Steel, hot-dip galvanized after threading rod and turnbuckle or other means of adjustment. CHAIN LINK FENCES AND GATES

Barbed Wire Arms: Pressed steel, with clips, slots, or other means for attaching strands of barbed wire, integral with post cap; for each post unless otherwise indicated, and as follows: 1. Type I, single slanted arm. I. Tie Wires, Clips, and Fasteners: According to ASTM F Standard Round Wire Ties: For attaching chain-link fabric to posts, rails, and frames, complying with the following: a. Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel: inch diameter wire; galvanized coating thickness matching coating thickness of chain-link fence fabri J. Finish: 1. Metallic Coating for Pressed Steel or Cast Iron: Not less than 1.2 oz. /sq. ft. zin 2.6 BARBED WIRE Steel Barbed Wire: Comply with ASTM A 121, for two-strand barbed wire, inch- (2.51-mm-) diameter line wire with inch- (2.03-mm-) diameter, four-point round barbs spaced not more than 5 inches (127 mm) o. 1. Zinc Coating: Type Z, Class GROUT AND ANCHORING CEMENT Nonshrink, Nonmetallic Grout: Premixed, factory-packaged, nonstaining, nonconosive, nongaseous grout complying with ASTM C Provide grout, recommended in writing by manufacturer, for exterior applications. Erosion-Resistant Anchoring Cement: Factory-packaged, nonshrink, nonstaining, hydraulic-controlled expansion cement formulation for mixing with potable water at Project site to create pourable anchoring, patching, and grouting compound. Provide formulation that is resistant to erosion from water exposure without needing protection by a sealer or waterproof coating and that is recommended in writing by manufacturer, for exterior applications. 2.8 FENCE GROUNDING Conductors: Bare, solid wire for No. 6 A WG and smaller; stranded wire for No. 4 A WG and larger. Connectors and Grounding Rods: Comply with UL 467. PART 3 -EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION Examine areas and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for site clearing, earthwork, pavement work, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work 1. Do not begin installation before fmal grading is completed unless otherwise permitted by Architect. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been conected. 3.2 PREPARATION Stake locations of fence lines, gates, and terminal posts. Do not exceed intervals of 500 feet or line of sight between stakes. Indicate locations of utilities, lawn sprinkler system, underground structures, benchmarks, and property monuments. 5 3.3 INSTALLATION, GENERAL Install chain-link fencing to comply with ASTM F Install fencing on established boundary lines inside property line. 2. New posts can be placed in the holes of the existing posts. 3.4 CHAIN-LINK FENCE INSTALLATION Post Excavation: Drill or hand-excavate holes for posts to diameters and spacings indicated, in firm, undisturbed soil. Post Setting: Set posts in concrete at indicated spacing into firm, undisturbed soil. 1. Verify that posts are set plumb, aligned, and at correct height and spacing, and hold in position during setting with concrete or mechanical devices. 2. Concrete Fill: Place concrete around posts to dimensions indicated and vibrate or tamp for consolidation. Protect aboveground portion of posts fi om concrete splatter. a. Exposed Concrete: Extend 2 inches above grade; shape and smooth to shed water. b. Excavation: Drill or hand-excavate (using post-hole digger) holes for posts to diameters and spacings as recommended by manufacturer, but not less than 12" minimum, in firm, undisturbed or compacted soil. 1. Unless otherwise indicated, excavate hole depths approximately 3 inches lower than post bottom, with bottom of posts set not less than 36 inches below finish grade surface. C. Terminal Posts: Locate terminal end, corner, and gate posts per ASTM F 567 and terminal pull posts at changes in horizontal or vertical alignment of 15 degrees or more. D. Line Posts: Space line posts uniformly at 10'- 0". E. Post Bracing and Intermediate Rails: Install according to ASTM F 567, maintaining plumb position and alignment of fencing. Diagonally brace terminal posts to adjacent line posts with truss rods and turnbuckles. Install braces at end and gate posts and at both sides of corner and pull posts. 1. Locate horizontal braces at midheight of fabric 72 inches or higher, on fences with top rail and at twothird fabric height on fences without top rail. Install so posts are plumb when diagonal rod is under proper tension. F. Tension Wire: Install according to ASTM F 567, maintaining plumb position and alignment of fencing. Pull wire taut, without sags. Fasten fabric to tension wire with inch- diameter hog rings of same material and finish as fabric wire, spaced a maximum of 24 inches o. Install tension wire in locations indicated before stretching fabri Provide horizontal tension wire at the following locations: 1. Extended along top and bottom of fence fabri Install top tension wire through post cap loops. Install bottom tension wire within 6 inches of bottom of fabric and tie to each post with not less than same diameter and type of wire. G. Intermediate and Bottom Rails: Install and secure to posts with fittings. H. Chain-Link Fabric: Apply fabric to outside of enclosing framework. Leave 1 inch between fmish grade or surface and bottom selvage unless otherwise indicated. Pull fabric taut and tie to posts, rails, and tension wires. Anchor to framework so fabric remains under tension after pulling force is released. I. Tension or Stretcher Bars: Thread through fabric and secure to end, corner, pull, and gate posts with tension bands spaced not more than 15 inches o. CHAIN LINK FENCES AND GATES

6 Tl J. Tie Wires: Use wire of proper length to firmly secure fabric to line posts and rails. Attach wire at one end to chain-link fabric, wrap wire around post a minimum of 180 degrees, and attach other end to chain-link fabric per ASTM F 626. Bend ends of wire to minimize hazard to individuals and clothing. 1. Maximum Spacing: Tie fabric to line posts at 12 inches o. and to braces at 24 inches o. K. Fasteners: Install nuts for tension bands and carriage bolts on the side of the fence opposite the fabric side. Peen ends of bolts or score threads to prevent removal of nuts. L. Barbed Wire: Install barbed wire uniformly spaced, angled toward security side of fence. Pull wire taut, install securely to extension arms, and secure to end post or terminal arms. Match Existing. 3.5 GATE INSTALLATION Install gates according to manufacturer's written instructions, level, plumb, and secure for full opening without interference. Attach fabric as for fencing. Attach hardware using tamper-resistant or concealed means. Install ground-set items in concrete for anchorage. Adjust hardware for smooth operation and lubricate where necessary. 3.6 GROUNDING AND BONDING Fence Grounding: Install at maximum intervals of 500 feet except as follows: 1. Gates and Other Fence Openings: Ground fence on each side of opening. Grounding Method: At each grounding location, drive a grounding rod vertically until the top is 6 inches below finished grade. Connect rod to fence with No.6 A WG conductor. Connect conductor to each fence component at the grounding location, including the following: C. Bonding Method for Gates: Connect bonding jumper between gate post and gate frame. D. Connections: Make connections to minimize possibility of galvanic action or electrolysis. Select connectors, connection hardware, conductors, and connection methods so metals in direct contact will be galvanically compatible. 3.7 ADJUSTING Gates: Adjust gates to operate smoothly, easily, and quietly, free of binding, warp, excessive deflection, distortion, nonalignment, misplacement, disruption, or malfunction, throughout entire operational range. Confirm that latches and locks engage accurately and securely without forcing or binding. Lubricate hardware and other moving pmts. END OF SECTION CHAIN LINK FENCES AND GATES

7 MISCELLANEOUS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REPAIRS SECTION HOT-MIX ASPHALT PAVING PART 1- GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY Section Includes: 1. Hot-mix asphalt paving. 2. Pavement-marking paint. 1.3 DEFINITION Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving Terminology: Refer to ASTM D 8 for definitions of terms. 1.4 SUBMITTALS Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Include technical data and tested physical and performance properties. 1. Job-Mix Designs: Certification, by authorities having jurisdiction, of approval of each job mix proposed for the Work. 2. Job-Mix Designs: For each job mix proposed for the Work. D. Qualification Data: For qualified manufacturer. Material Certificates: For each paving material from manufacturer. Material Test Reports: For each paving material. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE D. Manufacturer Qualifications: A paving-mix manufacturer registered with and approved by the MODOT. Asphalt Paver Qualifications: An installer who is trained and approved for installation of hot-mix asphalt required for this Project. Testing Agency Qualifications: Qualified according to ASTM D 3666 for testing indicated. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with materials, workmanship, and other applicable requirements of the MODOT for asphalt paving work. 1. Measurement and payment provisions and safety program submittals included in standard specifications do not apply to this Section. E. Pre-installation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site. 1. Review methods and procedures related to hot-mix asphalt paving including, but not limited to, the following: a. Review proposed sources of paving materials, including capabilities and location of plant that will manufacture hot-mix asphalt. b. Review scheduling and procedures for implementing work. 8 Review requirements for protecting paving work, including restriction of traffic during installation period and for remainder of construction period. d. Review and finalize construction schedule and verify availability of materials, Installer's personnel, equipment, and facilities needed to make progress and avoid delays. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Deliver pavement-marking materials to Project site in original packages with seals unbroken and bearing manufacturer's labels containing brand name and type of material, date of manufacture, and directions for storage. Store pavement-marking materials in a clean, dry, protected location within temperature range required by manufacturer. Protect stored materials from direct sunlight. 1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS Environmental Limitations: Do not apply asphalt materials if sub grade is wet or excessively damp, if rain is imminent or expected before time required for adequate cure, or if the following conditions are not met: 1. Prime Coat: Minimum surface temperature of 40 deg F. 2. Asphalt Surface Course: Minimum surface temperature of 60 deg F (15.6 deg C) at time of placement. Pavement-Marking Paint: Proceed with pavement marking only on clean, dry surfaces and at a minimum ambient or surface temperature of 40 deg F (4.4 deg C) for oil-based materials, 55 deg F (12.8 deg C) for water-based materials, and not exceeding 95 deg F (35 deg C). PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 AGGREGATES General: Use materials and gradations from sources that have performed satisfactorily in previous installations. Coarse Aggregate: 1. Asphalt: AASHTO T92 (50% loss max), AASHTO T85 (4% adsorption max) and sound; angular crushed stone, crushed gravel, or cured, crushed blast-furnace slag. 2. Base Aggregate: MODOT Type 1 Base Aggregate. C. Fine Aggregate: Sharp-edged natural sand or sand prepared from stone, gravel, cured blast-furnace slag, or combinations thereof in accordance with MODOT Section For hot-mix asphalt, limit natural sand to a maximum of 20 percent by weight of the total aggregate mass. D. Mineral Filler: Rock or limestone dust, hydraulic cement, or other inert material meeting AASHTO T37 and conforming to the following gradation: Passing No. 30 Sieve Passing No. 50 Sieve Passing No. 100 Sieve Passing No. 200 Sieve ASPHALT PAVING

9 Tl ASPHALT MATERIALS C. Asphalt Binder: AASHTO M 320 or AASHTO MP 1a, PG Asphalt Cement: ASTM D 3381 for viscosity-graded material. Prime Coat: Type MC liquid asphalt, Grade AUXILIARY MATERIALS Sand: AASHTO M 29, Grade Nos. 2 or 3. Pavement-Marking Paint: Alkyd-resin type, lead and chromate free, ready mixed, complying with AASHTO M 248, Type N; colors complying with FS TT-P Color: White: Chip# Yellow: Chip# MIXES Hot-Mix Asphalt: Dense, hot-laid, hot-mix at asphalt plant, Type BP-2 mix per MODOT specification. 1. Provide mixes from sources with a history of satisfactory performance in geographical area where Project is located. 2. Provide mixes complying with composition, grading, and tolerance requirements in ASTM D 3515 for the following nominal, maximum aggregate sizes: a. Asphaltic Surface Course: MODOT BP-2 PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION D. Verify that subgrade is dty and in suitable condition to begin paving. Proof-roll existing base below pavements with heavy pneumatic-tired equipment to identify soft pockets and areas of excess yielding. Do not proof-roll wet or saturated sub grades. 1. Completely proof-roll sub grade in one direction, repeating proof-rolling in direction perpendicular to first direction. Limit vehicle speed to 3 mph (5 km/h). 2. Proof roll with a loaded 10-wheel, tandem-axle dump truck weighing not less than 15 tons (13.6 tonnes). 3. Excavate soft spots, unsatisfactory soils, and areas of excessive pumping or rutting, as determined by Architect, and replace with compacted Type 1 Base aggregate as directed. Proceed with paving only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. Verify that utilities, pipe work and other items requiring a cut and installation beneath the asphalt surface have been completed and that asphalt surface has been repaired flush with adjacent asphalt prior to beginning installation of imprinted asphalt. 3.2 REMOVE EXISTING ASPHALT PAVING Remove existing asphalt pavement material by scarifying and grading. ASPHALT PAVING

10 1. Repair or replace curbs, manholes, and other construction damaged during removal of existing paving.and grade existing base course to uniform profile. Furnish and place Type 1 Base aggregate to fill depressions. Transport existing asphalt residue to asphalt recycling facility or stockpile offsite. Keep aggregate base surface free of extraneous material and debris. 3.3 SURF ACE PREPARATION General: Immediately before placing asphalt materials, remove loose and deleterious material from substrate surfaces. Ensure that prepared sub grade is ready to receive paving. Prime Coat: Apply uniformly to surfaces of aggregate base at a rate of 0.3 to 0.4 gal./ sq. yd. 1. Allow prime coat to cure undisturbed before applying hot-mix asphalt paving. 2. Avoid smearing or staining adjoining surfaces, appurtenances, and surroundings. Remove spillages and clean affected surfaces. 3.4 HOT-MIX ASPHALT PLACING Machine place hot-mix asphalt on prepared surface, spread uniformly, and strike off. Place asphalt mix by hand to areas inaccessible to equipment in a manner that prevents segregation of mix. Place each course to required grade, cross section, and thickness when compacted. 1. Place hot-mix asphalt surface course in single lift. 2. Spread mix at minimum temperature of275 deg F. 3. Begin applying mix along centerline of crown for crowned sections and on high side of one-way slopes unless otherwise indicated. 4. Regulate paver machine speed to obtain smooth, continuous surface free of pulls and tears in asphalt-paving mat. Place paving in consecutive strips not less than 10 feet wide unless infill edge strips of a lesser width are required. 1. After first strip has been placed and rolled, place succeeding strips and extend rolling to overlap previous strips. Promptly correct surface irregularities in paving course behind paver. Use suitable hand tools to remove excess material forming high spots. Fill depressions with hot-mix asphalt to prevent segregation of mix; use suitable hand tools to smooth surface. 3.5 JOINTS Construct joints to ensure a continuous bond between adjoining paving sections. Construct joints free of depressions, with same texture and smoothness as other sections of hot-mix asphalt course. 1. Compact joints as soon as hot-mix asphalt will bear roller weight without excessive displacement. 2. Compact asphalt at joints to a density within 2 percent of specified course density. 3.6 COMPACTION General: Begin compaction as soon as placed hot-mix paving will bear roller weight without excessive displacement. Compact hot-mix paving with hot, hand tampers or with vibratory-plate compactors in areas inaccessible to rollers. 1. Complete compaction before mix temperature cools to 185 deg F. Breakdown Rolling: Complete breakdown or initial rolling immediately after rolling joints and outside edge. Examine surface immediately after breakdown rolling for indicated crown, grade, and smoothness. Conect laydown and rolling operations to comply with requirements. ASPHALT PAVING

11 Tl Intermediate Rolling: Begin intennediate rolling immediately after breakdown rolling while hot-mix asphalt is still hot enough to achieve specified density. Continue rolling until hot-mix asphalt course has been uniformly compacted to the following density: 1. Average Density: 96 percent of reference laboratory density according to AASHTO T 245, but not less than 94 percent nor greater than 100 percent. 2. Average Density: 92 percent of reference maximum theoretical density according to ASTM D 2041, but not less than 90 percent nor greater than 96 percent. D. E. F. Finish Rolling: Finish roll paved surfaces to remove roller marks while hot-mix asphalt is still warm. Edge Shaping: While surface is being compacted and finished, trim edges of pavement to proper alignment. Bevel edges while asphalt is still hot; compact thoroughly. Repairs: Remove paved areas that are defective or contaminated with foreign materials and replace with fresh, hot-mix asphalt. Compact by rolling to specified density and surface smoothness. G. Protection: hardened. After final rolling, do not permit vehicular traffic on pavement until it has cooled and H. Erect barricades to protect paving from traffic until mixture has cooled enough not to become marked. 3.7 INSTALLATION TOLERANCES Pavement Thickness: Compact each course to produce the thickness indicated within the following tolerances: 1. Surface Course: Plus 114 inch, no minus. Pavement Surface Smoothness: Compact each course to produce a surface smoothness within the following tolerances as determined by using a 10-foot straightedge applied transversely or longitudinally to paved areas: 1. Surface Course: 1/8 inch. 2. Crowned Surfaces: Test with crowned template centered and at right angle to crown. Maximum allowable variance from template is 114 inch. Traffic-Cahning Devices: Compact and form asphalt to produce the contour indicated and within a tolerance of plus or minus 1/8 inch (3 mm) of height indicated above pavement surface. 3.8 PAVEMENT MARKING D. Do not apply pavement-marking paint until layout, colors, and placement have been verified with Architect. Allow paving to age for 28 days before starting pavement marking. Sweep and clean surface to eliminate loose material and dust. Apply paint with mechanical equipment to produce pavement markings, of dimensions indicated, with uniform, straight edges. Apply at manufacturer's recommended rates to provide a minimum wet film thickness of 15 mils (0.4 mm). 3.9 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Testing Agency: Contractor will engage a qualified testing agency to perform tests and inspections. 12 Thickness: In-place compacted thickness of hot-mix asphalt courses will be determined according to ASTMD C. Surface Smoothness: Finished surface of each hot-mix asphalt course will be tested for compliance with smoothness tolerances. D.
