3 Build in 4 easy steps... How to build walls... Step 1 Dig a level trench 75mm (3 ) deep and (7 ) wide. Fill in 75mm (3 ) of compactable aggregate and consolidate by tamping into place. Step 2 Install the base course of block on the aggregate, tamping and levelling into place. The raised rings on top of the blocks lock subsequent courses together. How to build piers... Step 1 Prepare a foundation pad by digging a 600mm (24 ) square, 100mm (4 ) deep hole. Fill in 100mm (4 ) of compactable aggregate and consolidate. Step 2 Place 4 corner blocks with the long sides facing out. Square up the blocks, tamp into place and level.

4 Tip... Taller walls will require some added stability. Try one of these strengthening techniques: Step 3 Continue stacking courses of blocks in the pattern you choose until the desired height is achieved. Offset the vertical seams on each course. Step 4 Design with serpentine curves or 90 corners Glue courses together Drop metal fence poles through the small holes in the blocks and drive into the ground Finish the wall with wall caps. Secure in place using a concrete adhesive. Step 3 Continue stacking courses, alternating the pattern to offset the vertical seams until desired height is achieved. Step 4 Finish the pier with the two piece pier caps. Secure in place using a concrete adhesive.

6 Techniques... Combining walls and piers... Building wall panels between piers adds strength and creates a traditional effect. Step 1: build the first pier Step 3: build the second pier Step 2: install base course of wall using split blocks and full blocks Colour: Slate Blend, Boundary wall, Newcastle Build the panels using the Dublin or York blocks, or combine them to create unique patterned walls. Shaded blocks represent the split blocks Step downs... Walls can be stepped down two ways. Use corner blocks to end each course Note: Plan for some splitting and fitting. Place the split sides against the pier blocks to make a tight fit on each course. Alternate split blocks per course. or try adding an extra wall cap at the end of each course Ordering materials... Determine the height of your wall in courses - each course is 150mm. (6 ) high. Measure the total length of the wall or walls, and use the chart below to find the number of Dublin blocks you will need. Number of Blocks needed (based on using Dublin Blocks only) Wall Length Approx Wall Height 1.2m (4ft) 1.5m (5ft) 2.4m (8ft) 3.7m (12ft) 6.1m (20ft) 150mm (6 ) 300mm (12 ) 460mm (18 ) 610mm (24 ) 760mm (30 ) Note: Order extra caps or corners for each step down. Wall caps needed (to switch from Dublin to York blocks, simply double the number in the chart)

7 Techniques... Build curves... Building curved walls is simple. Using the York block, stack two courses at a time to create a perfect 1m (40 ) curve. You will need 27 York blocks to build a complete full circle. Colour: Slate Blend, Entrance pillars, Carrickfergus On straight sections the Dublin and York blocks can be alternated to create unique patterns 1m (40 ) Use all York blocks to build curves or circles Building corners... Break a Dublin end-split, or a York centresplit, along the splitting notch and place the split end against the corner block to make the 90 corner. On the next course, reverse the position of the split piece and the corner block. Continue alternating each course. Dublin end-split Finish the corner with wall caps. Secure in place using a concrete adhesive. Splitting blocks... Locate the blocks with the splitting notches. Using a hammer and chisel, lightly tap around the entire block to create a scored line. Then strike the chisel with more force to break the block. Be sure to wear safety goggles. York centre-split Dublin centre-split Dublin end-split
