2 Medium Duty SBMkl Curtain Wall Designed for applications spanning up to three floors, the versatile SBMkl system successfully combines high performance features with architectural flexibility for efficient yet economical building solutions. Features Available both single and double glazed, the system is thermally improved and can accommodate infill panels, fixed and opening lights. Clean, narrow (45mm) sight lines and slim profiles for visual appeal. There are four size options for the SBMkl - 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 140mm and a range of four cap sizes for maximum design flexibility. The robust construction uses aluminium spigots and is easy to fabricate. The system is fully compatible with other Technal products including entrances, doors, and windows and will accept a wide range of architectural hardware. Construction The SBMkl Curtain Wall comprises a split tube mullion construction with a "screw on" external pressure plate system and a selection of clip on covers to produce strong yet slim aluminium sections. The split tube system also has the added benefit of concealing all the fixings. When necessary, steel strengthening members can be accommodated without the inconvenience of forcing them inside a hollow profile. Coping details vary with building details 75mm transom Purpose designed fixing brackets to suit project SBMkI (Scale 1:3) Mullion line Head fixing Size and Weight Limitations The critical factor in designing a curtain wall screen is wind loading. BS6399: Part 2 (Formerly BS CP3: Chapter 5: Part 2) may be used to ascertain the wind loadings applicable to the given location. This should be specified to enable the designer or fabricator to select the correct profiles for the project. Design criteria are available upon request. Glazing Specification Glazed to BS6262, SBMkl can accommodate glazing or panels between 6mm and 28mm. Technal windows can be inserted into the curtain wall system to permit ventilation or smoke venting, as required. The glazing uses a pre-shimmed tape inner seal and a black nitrile to BS7412 gasket for the outer seal. Weather Performance The SBMkl system has been tested in accordance with BS6375 Part Air permeability Water tightness Wind resistance Unit rating Pass grade C Pass 1000 Pa Pass 2000 Pa Exposure rating 2000 special Test results are available on request. It also conforms with the requirements of the CWCT Standard and Guide to Good Practice for Curtain Walling. 5 Heavy Duty SBMkll Curtain Wall Mastic Head fixing detail The SBMkll is a heavy duty 64mm framing system specifically designed for applications where large inter-span modules are required. Through the efficient use of aluminium, the system is a highly durable, aesthetically appealing and cost effective curtain wall. Features Intermediate floor fixing 64mm Single glaze adaptor Thermal isolator High performance thermal break. The single or double glazed framing can be constructed to form a range of different facades. Ease of fabrication and site assembly. The SBMkll curtain wall is fully compatible with other Technal systems such as opening windows, commercial doors and ground floor framing. Construction The simple strong construction of the SBMkll system consists of a split tube mullion construction and a "screw on external pressure plate with a selection of clip on covers. The split tube system also conceals all fixings. When necessary steel strengthening members can be accommodated without the inconvenience of forcing them inside a hollow profile.
