HARKER Harker is part of Hawkins Group and was established in We offer a full range of services, plant and equipment and we deliver services across a range of underground construction areas. We commenced life undertaking general civil contracting and traditional drill and blast tunnelling and have considerable experience in conventional and TBM tunnelling, tunnel boring, pipe jacking and microtunnelling. And in addition we re experienced in all types of ground conditions from hard rock to saturated soft ground. We own New Zealand s largest and most modern selection of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and have designed and manufactured TBMs and support systems. This includes slurry separation plants, software and machine guidance systems. Our staff are skilled and experienced and include engineers, certified tunnel managers, qualified tradesmen, experienced site personnel and machine operators most of us have been withthe company for more than 10 years. With revenues of more than NZ$750 million Hawkins is an industry leader and has been responsible for some of New Zealand s most iconic buildings and environments. He is a highly experienced chartered engineer, with specialist expertise in tunnelling. He has an extensive practical knowledge of running and leading major tunnelling and infrastructure projects in New Zealand, the Pacific and the United Kingdom. Matt is a qualified civil engineer with an MBA from Manchester University. He has worked on some of the biggest tunnelling projects in the world, gaining a wealth of experience in TBM and sprayed concrete tunnelling in soft and hard ground. Matt combines his strategic and innovative thinking with an understanding of what clients want, to ensure that we consistently deliver projects which exceed client expectations. Mike is one of New Zealand s leading trenchless professionals with over 30 years experience in all facets of underground construction in New Zealand. His extensive knowledge and innovation in the design, costing and construction of TBM, pipe jacking and microtunnelling projects in the trenchless industry provides us with the expert advice that keeps us at the forefront of the industry. Graham has more than 20 years experience in the construction industry, in New Zealand and the Pacific. He takes a hands on approach to HSQE management and works closely with our entire team. Graham is responsible for leading improvements in all HSQE areas to insure that Health and Safety is central to all parts of the business. Tim has over 10 years experience in commercial and operational management roles in New Zealand and the UK. This background has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the commercial requirements as well as the operational side of the business, project and client requirements. Tim has strong analytical skills that allow him to have a clear understanding of project and business finances and the ability to deal with issues practically and pragmatically. Martin is a highly skilled project manager with experience in site-based problem solving, Health & Safety planning and plant management and maintenance. He has over 20 years experience in the industry and has worked on a number of significant projects in New Zealand. Martin employs a relationship-based style that focuses on team work, collaboration, communication and leadership. His other responsibility is ensuring that Harker s plant fleet is highly maintained and ready for deployment. KEY PERSONNEL

5 DRILL & BLAST TUNNELLING OPEN FACE EXCAVATION IN WEAK ROCK REHABILITATION OF OUTLET STRUCTURES TRENCHLESS CONSTRUCTION Our main area of expertise is constructing tunnels and pipelines from 100mm to 3000mm diameter. With the largest range of microtunnelling and pipe jacking equipment in New Zealand we offer a range of solutions depending on the pipe/tunnel size and ground conditions. And we also have traditional tunnelling capability including drill and blast excavation and the installation of various methods of tunnel support including timber, rock bolts, arches and sprayed concrete. We work in ground conditions that vary from saturated running sands and soft clays through to hard rock and have successfully excavated below highly sensitive infrastructure and buildings. Our relationships with the global industry provide us with access to other equipment when required to suit the ground conditions. We can operate in a range of locations from dense urban environments to geographically remote locations. Our track record involves constructing a range of temporary and permanent shafts including segmental, sheet piled, soldier piled, secant piled excavations and methods utilising steel mesh and sprayed concrete. WASTEWATER Trunk Sewer 30 Extension Client: Watercare Services Value: NZD$10.3M Required the trenchless installation of 1100m of 1050mm pipe and 1540mm pipe using a combination of an open-faced TBM, semi-closed-face TBM and hand excavation through varying ground conditions. A further 1000m of 850mm concrete pipe was also installed by open-cut method. Seven shafts were installed at depths of up to 16m and 17 manholes were constructed both within the shafts and in the open-cut section of works. 11 MARKET SECTORS

7 STORMWATER Shaddock Street Stormwater Upgrade Client: Auckland Council Value: NZD$6.7m Involved installing a 220m curved drive of 1950mm concrete pipe using the Akkerman 720B openfaced TBM at grades between 2% and 3% and depths of up to 25m, and the construction of a 6m diameter 25m deep launch shaft. 13 Pillans Road Stormwater Upgrade Client: Tauranga City Council Value: NZD$10m This project required 400m of 2550mm pipe to be installed using the 2550 Slurry TBM within a marine environment from a 6m deep launch shaft, at depths of up to 14m. The main TBM driven pipeline was installed in 20 days. The project also involved installation of 400m of 2x2m box culverts and 900mm diameter concrete pipe. POWER & ELECTRICITY Wainihinihi Tunnel Realignment (Hokitika) Client: Trustpower Value: NZD$2.8m Involved realigning and constructing a 2x3mx185m tailrace tunnel as the previous section of the existing tunnel had collapsed. The tunnelling method was drill and blast, and temporary support was provided by a variety of rock bolts, mesh, steel sets and timber support. A permanent in-situ concrete secondary lining was also installed through the full length of the tunnel.

8 INFRASTRUCTURE Timaru MSR 2 Client: Timaru District Council Value: NZD$14m Involved constructing 1200m of 2500mm diameter tunnel with multiple curves using an Akkerman Backhoe TBM and Ring Beams and Lagging for ground support. The tunnel was constructed in 3x400m sections. Upon completion dual 1200mm and 600mm diameter PE pipes were installed and grouted into place. 15 HARKER Capability Statement

INTRODUCTION H&S MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PROJECT MANAGEMENT Our management systems are designed to: Address client objectives through a collaborative, no surprises approach Effectively apply our project and construction management systems Implement our risk management system Implement safe and environmentally compliant construction methods We are seriously committed to the protection of our employees from injury and the protection of property from damage. Our Health and Safety Management System is applied across the company and is accredited by ACC WSMP and QEST. We see this as the key to delivering successful project outcomes. Our Integrated Management System (IMS) supports our project managers and provides business approved methods of managing and monitoring the key internal areas of business. Our Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) is based on and accredited to ACC WSMP and QEST. In addition, our Quality Management System (QMS) is certified by Civil Contractors New Zealand QEST Integrated Management System. The objectives of our H&S Management System are to: Comply with Health and Safety Legislation Prevent injuries Create a safer workplace Establish safe working practices Ensure effective safety training Develop responsibilities for safety Using the Plan, Do, Check & Review (PDCR) management process ensures that potential risks are identified prior to a project commencing and steps are put in place to control risks. MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS We work hard on continually improving our business practices and the IMS is audited annually by an accredited third party. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The key objective of environmental management is prevention. Environmental issues are identified at tender stage and are monitored throughout the project. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) is based on ISO and accredited by QEST and is integrated across the company. QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM We re committed to delivering quality products and services. Our Quality Management System (QMS) is based on ISO 9001 and accredited by QEST. 17
