1 BILL Nr1 - PRELIMINARIES 1.0 PRELIMINARY PARTICULARS 1.1 Funding The funding shall be provided by the Guyana Power & light Inc., of 40 Main street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown. 1.2 Engineer The Engineer shall be the Senior Civil Engineer - Administrative Department, Guyana Power & Light Inc. 1.3 Contract The Bills of Quantities have been prepared in accordance with the General Conditions of contract, Form of Tender and Agreement. The Conditions of contract should be carefully read as such conditions may have a considerable bearing on the tender. 1.4 Quantities The quantities shown in Bill Nr. 3 have been measured net, as fixed in position, and the bidder shall allow in his prices for waste, laps,etc. The quantities given are thus generally not suitable for the ordering of materials. 1.5 Provisional Sum The term 'Provisional Sum' shall mean a sum provided for works or for costs which cannot be entirely foreseen, defined or detailed at the time the tender documents are prepared. Such sums shall be used in whole or in part as directed by the Engineer & shall be deemed to be inclusive of any profit required by the contractor, unless otherwise indicated. 1.6 Description of Site The site of the proposed works is located at GPL Middle Street Office, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown 1.7 Description of Works Rehabilitation of the drive way approximately 246 square yards, raising of the floor in the second building (27' x 42') and construction of a walkway around the second building at Middle Street Office. This project includes some sanitary and plumbing works, and carpentry and painting works. 1.8 Visiting the Site The Contractor is advised to visit the site of the proposed Works in order to ascertain the prevailing site conditions and to obtain all information necessary for costing and executing the Works. 1

2 BILL Nr1 - PRELIMINARIES 2.0 GENERAL MATTERS Allow for the following General Matters in the Unit Rates of Measured Work. A. Plant and Tools. B. Setting out the works. C. Holiday with pay. D. Transportation of materials and plant. E. Site organization with regards to employment of Foreman-in- Charge, Storekeeper, Cleaner, and Security Guard. F. Lighting and Power. G. Programme and progress Chart. H. Collection & payment of NIS contributions. 3.0 TEMPORARY WORKS Allow for the following Temporary Works, constructed to the Engineer's satisfaction, and for dis-mantling and removing from site on completion. A. Toilet & Washing facilities for GPL supervisor and Contractors staff. Sum Not Applicable B. Mass area for workers and barrier to prevent persons from coming into contact with the works. Sum C. Provide storage and workshop facilities Sum D. Provide a suitable furnished site office of size 15' x 15'. Sum Not Applicable E. Provide water for the works Sum F. Provide all scaffolding necessary for the works Sum G. Provide for the protection of all sections of the Works from inclement weather Sum H. (Construction Period + Defects Liability Period) Prov.Sum 50,000 (2) Public Liability Insurance The Insurance must be for the entire contract period. (Construction Period + Defects Liability Period) Prov.Sum 50,000 (3) Employer's Liability Insurance The Insurance must be for the entire contract period. (Construction Period + Defects Liability Period) Prov.Sum 50,000 B. Allow for surety for providing Mobilization Advance. Prov.Sum 50,000 C. Allow for surety for providing Performance Bond. Bond to be valid until the defects liability period has expired. Prov.Sum 50,000 D. Allow for progress photographs, 12 exposures per month. Sum E. Allow for clearing the site of all vegetation, and maintaining same during the execution of the project. Sum F. Allow for the removal of construction debris. Sum G. 5 BILL Nr. 2 - Day Work A. GENERALLY 1.1 In accordance with the day work clause in the conditions of Contract, where the Engineer orders work to be executed on a day work basis, the Contractor shall be paid for such work under the conditions of the day work schedule. Such payment shall be the sum of the prime cost, calculated in accordance with the following "Definition of Prime Cost of Day Work" and the percentage additions to each section of the prime cost at the rates set out hereunder by the contractor, and recorded in the Appendix to the Conditions of Contract. B. DEFINITION OF PRIME COST OF DAY WORK LABOUR I II III IV The amount of wages paid at the rates applicable to work men on day work. The amount of wages paid at the rates applicable to work men engaged on day work and operating mechanical plant and transport and erecting and dismantling other plant. The time of principals, foreman, gangers, and leading hands at the time rates for the trades practiced, when actually working with there hands, unless when previously otherwise authorized. The cost of overtime where specifically ordered or subsequently sanctioned in writing by the Engineer as day work. MATERIALS I II The cost of materials including delivery to site. Materials supplied from the Contractor's stock at current prices plus justifiable charges for handling and delivery to site. PLANT I Use of mechanically operated plant for the time engaged in the work. No allowance mace for idle time. 5

6 BILL Nr. 2 - Day Work Cont' Use of scaffolding, staging, trestles, tarpaulins and other nonmechanical plant excluding tools, specifically provided on site for day work operation, for such time as the Engineer considers reasonable. A. OVERHEADS I Overheads for the purpose of the Contractor shall mean the following: Head office charges Site supervision and site charges Time loss due to inclement weather Bonus or other incentive payments All other liabilities and obligations whatsoever II Overheads as define above and profit shall be dealt with by means of a percentage addition to the totals of prime cost in each of the after mentioned sections at the rate stated herein after. B. PRIME COST Including the following sums for works which may be executed as day work. Lbs Drill hole 1/2" dia. in existing asphalt concrete to receive main bars of curb wall. Nr. 168 Supply and install BRC No. 65 to ground slab. Include for end laps and joints. SY 246 FORMWORK TO INSITU CONCRETE (FAIR FACE FINISH) 2.7 To 6" x 6" curb wall. Sy Supply and install 6" wide approved expansion joint to concrete work. 9 BILL NR 4 MEASURE WORKS - SECOND BUILDING 1.0 CONCRETE WALKWAY (4' WIDE X 4" THICK) 1.1 Excavation not exceeding 12" to remove top soil and vegetation Cy Level, ram and compact bottom of excavation. Sy Provide and place 2" thick sand fill to excavated area. Sy Provide, mix, place and compact 1:2:4 concrete to walkway. Cy Provide and place rough 1 x 6 H.W. formwork to sideway of walkway. Ly Provide and place No 610 BRC fabric to walkway, include for a minimum lap 6" in paving. Sy 53 CONCRETE WALKWAY TO SUMMARY - PG RAISING OF FLOOR ON THE GROUND FLOOR 2.1 Supply, place, level and compact white sand in layers of 6" to receive floor slab. Cy 21 Reinforced concrete mix 1:2;4 3/4" max agg., 3000 psi in 28 days 2.2 In 4" thick rc ground slab. Cy 14 FABRIC REINFORCEMENT BRC NO. 610, 12" SIDE & END LAPS 2.3 In concrete ground slab. Sy 126 DPC Plastic 2.4 To ground floor slab Sy 126 RAISING OF FLOOR ON THE GROUND FLOOR TO SUMMARY - PG CARPENTRY & JOINERY Timber shall be seasoned greenheart. The face of the timber in contact with concrete or mortar shall be primed before fixing. 3.1 Remove existing door frames and store for possible reuse. 10 4.0 WINDOWS AND DOORS 4.1 Carefully remove existing doors and store for possible re-use. Nr Install doors remove and fix into position. Sy Supply and apply two coats of emulsion paint to all concrete surfaces. Sy 204 PAINTING & DECORATING TO SUMMARY - PG 11 BILL 3 - MEASURED WORKS 6.0 TILING 6.1 Supply and install 18" x 18" non skid ceramic tiles to concrete floor and finish with white cement.
