1 SECTION 9700 SPECIAL FLOORING AND FLOORING TREATMENTS DEGREE OF CUT - VISION FOR THE GREEN ENDURANCE FLOORING INSTALLATION TO BE A SUCCESS THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER MUST INCORPORATE THE GREEN ENDURANCE FLOORING CAST-IN-PLACE GUIDELINES INTO THE CAST-IN-PLACE SPECIFICATION. GREEN ENDURANCE FLOORING WILL BEAR NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF LEAVING OUT OR NOT FOLLOWING THESE REQUIREMENTS. GENERAL CONTRACTORS AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS SHOULD IMMEDIATELY REFER TO THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SECTION AT FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING INSTALLATION LOGISTICS. 1.1 SUMMARY A. Green Endurance is a sustainable architectural concrete flooring application that processes the cast in place concrete to a finished flooring surface. The concrete is highly refined using a strict and specialized diamond abrasive mechanical process where the concrete is processed to a specular polished finish. The final product is consistently inconstant. Exposure of aggregates within the concrete or seeded will vary when exposed and not be consistent like a product manufactured in a factory like controlled setting. 1.2 SUBMITTALS A. Installer Qualifications: Letter dated within one month from start of Green Endurance application stating installer is an approved Green Endurance applicator. For a list of installers go to B. Product Data: Manufacturer s technical literature that includes product data, application directions and MSDS (if applicable) for all liquid applied products and accessories as outlined in PART 2 Products. Densifier and impregnating micro filming like product used in the Green Endurance installation are required to have a letter stating installer is an approved applicator for these products. C. Maintenance Data: Green Endurance maintenance requirements for inclusion in manual required by Division 01. D. Field Quality Control Static Coefficient of Friction Test Reports: Reports of testing specified in PART 3 Field Quality Control Article. May 11,

2 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: 1. Green Endurance Certified Installer Only No Substitutions. For a list of installers go to 2. Manufacturer Qualification: Approved by manufacturer to apply liquid applied products. B. Static Coefficient of Friction: Achieve not less than 0.5 for level floor surfaces as determined by quality control testing according to NFSI 101-A. C. Field Mock-up for Aesthetic Purposes: 50 Square feet in size and to be used by the architect as a reference and general guide as to the appearance of the finished product to show degree of aggregate exposure, color, natural variations, decorative applications such as saw cut or engraving, joint filling and finished edge work. 1. Mock up to be produced under the same conditions as the actual placing, finishing, curing and polishing. 2. Obtain architect s approval before starting work on project, architect to approve within 24 hours of completion. 3. Protect approved field mock-ups from elements with weather resistant covering. 4. Maintain field mock-ups during construction in an undisturbed condition as a standard for judging completed work. 5. Do not demolish, alter, or remove field mock-ups until acceptable to Owner and Architect. D. Pre-Installation of Concrete Conference: Prior to placing concrete for areas scheduled for Green Endurance Flooring, conduct conference at Project to comply with requirements of applicable Division 01 Sections. 1. Required Attendees: a. Owner. b. Architect. c. General Contractor Project Manager/s d. General Contractor Superintendent/s e. Concrete Producer. f. Concrete Finisher, including Supervisor. g. Green Endurance Installer, including Supervisor. h. Technical representative of liquid applied product manufacturers. 2. Agenda: a. Review Green Endurance Flatwork specifications and guidelines incorporated into cast in place specifications. b. Review this specification: Green Endurance SECTION 9700 SPECIAL FLOORING AND FLOORING TREATMENTS. c. Confirm at what stage in construction Green Endurance installation is to take place as specified in 3.3 GREEN ENDURANCE INSTALLATION, A. Sequence of Installation. d. Review how all parties are to work together and how each influences installation results. e. Review how damaged floors will be repaired prior to Green Endurance installation and what the repair will look like. f. Confirm submittals have been submitted and approved. g. Review procedures, including, but not limited to: 1) Details of each step of the Green Endurance installation process

3 2) Protecting concrete floor surfaces until Green Endurance installation begins. 3) Protecting Green Endurance Floors after work is completed. 3. Reports: Record discussions, including decisions and agreements reached, and furnish copy of record to each party attending. 1.4 FIELD CONDITIONS A. Damage and Stain Prevention: Take precautions to prevent damage and staining of concrete surfaces to receive Green Endurance Flooring application. 1. Protect surface from petroleum, oil, hydraulic fluid, or other liquid dripping. 2. Prohibit vehicle parking over concrete surfaces. 3. Prohibit pipe cutting operations over concrete. 4. Diaper all equipment working over concrete surfaces. 5. Prohibit ferrous metals storage on or over concrete surfaces. 6. Protect from acids and acidic or alkaline detergents or solutions contacting concrete surfaces. 7. Protect from all activities including but not limited to fire proofing, spray insulation, masons, steel erectors and painting over concrete surfaces. 8. Do not allow other trades to mark on the floor with any material (including tape) other than orange, blue or white chalk. 9. Prohibit storage or lying of any material for a minimum of 28 days after concrete placement such as but not limited to wood, sheet goods, insulation boards, plywood, press board, drywall, sections of framing, poly sheeting and the like. They will transfer resins and tannins into the slab and alter the moisture content when curing which will leave shading patterns in the finished floor. After 28 days use cardboard in between any materials laid on concrete and if the floor is covered with any material such as Masonite, plywood or plastic sheets all seems must be taped to ensure even vapor transmission from the curing process. 10. Make sure to check lifts tires for nails and screws. B. Environmental Limitations: Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for substrate temperature, ambient temperature, moisture, ventilation, and other conditions affecting all products as outlines in PART 2 PRODUCTS. C. General Contractor Requirements: 1. Maintain temperature, humidity, and ventilation within limits recommended by manufacturer of any products used for application. 2. Have job site lighting operational and provide sufficient light for the process. 3. Provide lockable room for Green Endurance equipment and supplies to be stored. 4. Maintain ambient temperature of 55 degrees minimum and 80 degrees maximum to allow for proper curing of hardeners or densifiers. 5. Provide a lined dumpster, closed tank, pit or water slurry separator within 50 feet of job site to dispose of wet slurry material and dry concrete dust produced during concrete processing process one day before work is scheduled to start. 6. Provide water within 50 feet of work area one day before work is scheduled to start. 7. Provide electrician to hook up power requirements for Installer one day before work is scheduled to start. 8. Provide power within 50 feet of work site and able to handle the concrete processing Installer s power requirements one day before work is scheduled to start. 9. Responsible to provide Installer a broom swept floor before work begins. 10. Responsible for removing all debris from floor joints before Installer begins work. 11. No other trades allowed in area being work on by Installer and area is to be free and clear of anything that would prevent work from progressing in a timely manner
