Report all unacceptable surfaces to Architect, in writing. Do not tile such surfaces until they have been leveled to acceptable tolerances. (It shall be responsibility of trade providing substrate for tile to prepare surfaces to acceptable tolerances using materials compatible with substrate and tile installation materials.) B. Before tiling, ensure that: 1. Surfaces scheduled to receive tile are free of curing membranes, laitance, spalling, oil, grease, wax, dust, other materials and/or conditions that would be detrimental to proper installation of tile. 2. Grounds, anchors, plugs, hangers, bucks, electrical and mechanical work in or behind tile has been installed. C. Starting of tile work will indicate acceptance of surfaces.

6 QUARRY TILE LAYOUT: A. Determine locations of all movement joints as indicated on drawing and as recommended by the Tile Council of America, Inc. and tile manufacturer before starting tile work. Locations to include but not limited to tile placed over cracks and saw-cut contraction joints in floor slabs. B.
