4 5.1 SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS The scope of work is for is for the supply of material and waterproofing of various roofs for City Power Johannesburg. All waterproofing shall comply with the specifications provided. Only SANS approved products will be accepted Dimensions and Basis mass of waterproofing: The dimensions and square meter age of the roofs and boards to be verified on site Waterproofing products: All waterproofing is to be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturer s requirements. Contractors shall lodge a ten year guarantee on all roof waterproofing. Generally the waterproofing requirements are that all surfaces to be waterproofed are dry, firm, smooth and free of loose aggregates, sharp protrusions and other contaminates. The waterproofing membrane is to be applied fully sealed by torch on fusion. Surfaces to which torch on waterproofing is laid are to be fully primed with a bitumen primer left to allow solvents to flash off before the work proceeds. Waterproofing membrane shall consist of unspoilt sheets and unless otherwise prescribed, laps with 75mm wide side laps and 10mm wide laps. The waterproofing membrane to be well sealed at all laps, angles and fillets by torch on fusion. Turning up against and over kerbs, etc. and down over edges all as described (Turn ups and down in measurement) Prices for waterproofing are to include the requirements of the specification, all square cutting waste, additional material in laps and all necessary to achieve water tightness to the finished product Boarded roof: Apply 25mm 40 D.V. Insulation Panel on 3.2 STD Masonite fire retardant in accordance with the D.I.N. standards. 110mm flat drive screw, 150mm Polypropylene washers at a rate of 12 per m² Apply one layer of SANS approved 4mm dual reinforced torch on waterproofing membrane laid free, with side laps 75mm and laps 100mm, sealed together by means of torch on fusion. Dress gutters using SANS approved 4mm dual reinforce torch on waterproofing membrane by means of torch on fusion. Apply one coat of bitumen based aluminium paint on waterproofing at completion.
