Chimneys Brick GRP Products The Special Brick & GRP Manufacturers

About us When we formed Fab-Lite we believed there was a space in the masonry fabrication market for a Design Specialist production Company that had an in depth understanding of our customers requirements and an ability combined with enthusiasm to overcome complex problems with fast, cost conscious and effective solutions. Our production facility has large capacity for production of general cut and bonded specials in addition to the more complex products and designs that have formed the reputation of Fab-Lite as an innovative design and production specialist supply company to our wide range of customers. Our workforce are dedicated to providing the best solution, on time and within budget. Specialist bricks 1. Brick specials were traditionally manufactured by the brick manufacturer, but the lengthy delivery periods and costs associated with the production of these units has resulted in this process now being completed by specialist companies who are able to form the vast majority of both BS standard and bespoke specials using standard facings. This has developed over recent years to this now being the industry norm and the advantages in both speed and cost has resulted in many traditional features returning to the elevations of many new properties that previously had been viewed as being either too complicated, time consuming or cost prohibitive.

We have developed an extensive knowledge of the methods and technology required to achieve these products and can offer specials typically within a 7-10 day turn-round from the collection of standard bricks from site. 2.

Arches We have developed an extensive range of brick arch designs and methods of manufacturing to provide the best solution for each application. This may be simply cutting the bricks to form the required profile for site to traditionally lay the brick arch, or as is the majority of modern developments, we can preform them to further speed up the build. This can be either a light weight backing that requires a steel lintel to support it or we can fabricate it onto a reinforced concrete lintel if the specification dictates either a structural issue or indeed an aesthetic requirement to achieve a brick return to either the underside or indeed to face up the front, rear and soffit of the arch. We also have specialist machinery in place to facilitate the production of special drilled bricks for brickwork support systems in addition to a large capacity for general cutting of slips, pistols and fabrication of cut and bonded special shaped bricks. 5 Our design team would be pleased to assist with the production of full CAD design services and providing estimates of quantities, which can be broken down into either house types for the developer or floor levels for commercial projects and packed and labelled accordingly. 4.

Cladding Products With the growth in demand for more fast track building, the timber frame development has become more popular with developers. This has meant a series of new problems has arisen for designers trying to continue the traditional appearance of masonry. This has been prevalent with the increased use of properties of differing levels, particularly on terraced blocks that leaves exposed stepped gables that are difficult to clad in brickwork. The options have previously been limited to render, tile hanging or some other cladding solution which often looks out of place with the rest of the development. We have developed our lightweight brick cladding panels to overcome this problem. The panel is faced in brick slips cut from standard bricks from the site. This slip is then cast into a grp backing matrix that provides an extremely thin but strong rigid panel that can be lifted and trimmed at the factory to the required shape and packed for site to simply screw and fix back to battens off the timber frame. The panel which typically weighs only kg per square meter is less than 25mm thick, but gives all the aesthetics of traditionally built brickwork. These panels are often used to clad areas that are either complex for site to construct traditionally such as Herringbone/basket weave/stack bonded brickwork or alternatively, areas of brickwork to be removed from the critical path of construction where post fixing of panels would be beneficial. This system has been utilised for bricks arches, soldier courses or even to replace a brickwork support system where the saving from off site prefabrication on labour, time and materials has been considerable. 5.

We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and over the years the demand from developers has grown for many traditional items to be incorporated into their designs, but with the usual restrictions being to maintain a tight budget and the speed of build not to be compromised. Our design team in conjunction with our customers, have come up with the lightweight brick chimney designs shown as our standard range, all of which meet the required criteria and offer a wide selection of solutions to satisfy the developer, the house buyers and Planning Authorities who prefer the return to more traditional street scene appearance of our new properties, without the eliminations of traditional building techniques. In many instances, our stacks can be installed without having to change the roof designs and a factory produced unit incorporating many design features of a traditionally built stack can be fitted within minutes. Our stacks can be used with bricks, natural stone, reconstituted stone or render finish to suit your requirements......and the options don t end there, with variations in the cap and pot designs, installation of flues, position of the stack on the roof, fixing method, lifting techniques and many others! 8.

Caps or Haunched finish? OPTION A: Lightweight flush GRP cap in either bathstone, portland, red, dark grey colour with GRP dot. OPTION B: Flush finish with close top terracotta clay pot. Can be pre-haunched at our factory or carried out on site when pointing. Bespoke Chimneys From the even more discerning buyer or designer, we have developed our bespoke range of stack that basically will allow freedom to increase the size and complexity of the design to the maximum a few basic constraints. The limitations of brickwork in general have to be considered but basically if we can design it on paper, build it, lift it on a truck, transport it to site and you can support it on the roof, we can make it happen! All the chimneys can be designed and supplied with either finish to your preference. Some customers want the traditional appearance of the haunched finish, but others like the overhanging cap in a range of finishes. Our standard stacks all incorporate the Fab-Lite Flashing channel which basically provides a water tight finish to the bottom of the stack and allows a simple flashing detail during the installation of the stack. 9. We have considerable experience of designing and manufacturing large steel sub framed chimneys over 3 metres high and even some with a twisted stack, so we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your unusual requirements that many others wouldn t consider as possible.

GRP Products With the GRP technology and equipment used in our chimney production, we have developed a range of GRP products that are now used extensively through the construction industry with more lightweight preformed items replacing traditionally built features in both the housing market and Commercial sector. In addition to the brick chimneys we have developed a GRP brick effect chimney to satisfy the demands of our customers for an even lighter solution. Again, a wide range of sizes and designs are available. Corbels The standard range includes: GRP Chimneys Copings String Course & Feature Bands Dormers & Dovecotes Canopies Copings String Course Dormers Dovecote 10.
