1 ADDENDUM G1 JLG Perkett Elementary School RE: Addendum G1 Issued: September 8, 2014 ADDENDUM G-1 NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS This Addendum is prepared to supplement information presented in the Drawings and Project Manual dated Month Day, Year for the above referenced project. All additions, changes, omissions and conditions listed herein shall become an integral part of the Contract Documents. BID DATE: The Bid Date shall be rescheduled for September 23, SPECIFICATION ITEMS: 1. SECTION PRECAST ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE: Add the following paragraphs: o o o 2.02.G.1 <PRECAST-1> Insulated Precast Architectural Panels: Extend the thin brick finish at the precast architectural panels around Gymnasium #122 and Cafeteria #117 continuous through interior spaces such as Lobby #101, Corridor #102, Vestibule #114 and Corridor #134. Return the veneer brick around corner 3 minimum at all door openings and other openings occurring in the precast to adjacent spaces throughout these areas G.2 <PRECAST-2> Uninsulated Precast Concrete Panels: Provide thin brick veneer finish at the Lobby #101 side of the 8 precast panels between Gymnasium #122 and Lobby #101. Approximate area of brick is 32-0 long x 10-0 high G.3 Thin Brick Colors: Provide the following color blend as manufactured by Endicott: Lt. Sandstone 40% Coppertone 40% Copper Canyon 20% 2. SECTION JOINT SEALERS: Add this Section to the Project Manual Specifications See attachment. 3. SECTION ALUMINUM-FRAMED STOREFRONTS: o Renumber paragraph 2.02.B to 2.02.C o Add new paragraph 2.02.B and subparagraphs as follows: 2.02.B Center-Set Style, Thermally-Broken (6 1/2" inch mullion depth) 1. Basis of Design: Tubelite; Series 2. Basis of Design: CMI Architectural; CTS 1 ¾ x 6 Thermal Clip 2. Basis of Design: Kawneer; Trifab 601T 3. Basis of Design: Manko; 2650 Series 4. Vetical Mullion Dimensions: 2 inches by 6 to 6 ½ inches deep The 6 1/2 mullion depth window and storefront framing are detailed in the following locations: 1. The exterior and interior entrance systems at Vestibule # The exterior window systems in Cafeteria #117 and the exterior and interior entrance systems at Vestibule #118. SECTION GLAZING: o 2.01 GLAZING TYPES: Add E: <INSUL GL-40> 1 Insulated Spandrel Glass Application: Exterior glazing where indicated Total Thickness: One inch, nominal Exterior Pane: Tinted Glass ¼, Tempered Color: Greylite 14 Interior Pane: Clear Glass, ¼, Tempered with standard color ceramic frit at surface #3. (Insulated Spandrel Glass occurs only at the bottom panels of Window Type W2 in Classrooms #141 and #148) APPROVED EQUALS The following products have been approved for use on this project. All approved products must still meet all product specifications as listed in the product specification section. ASTM C Standard Guide for Use of Joint Sealants; ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS A. Coordinate the work with other sections referencing this section SUBMITTALS A. See Section Administrative Requirements, for submittal procedures. B. Product Data: Provide data indicating sealant chemical characteristics, performance criteria, substrate preparation, and limitations. C. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate special procedures QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Maintain one copy of each referenced document covering installation requirements on site. B. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience. C. Applicator Qualifications: Company specializing in performing the work of this section with minimum three years documented experience and approved by manufacturer FIELD CONDITIONS A. Maintain temperature and humidity recommended by the sealant manufacturer during and after installation WARRANTY A. See Section Closeout Submittals, for additional warranty requirements. B. Correct defective work within a five year period after Date of Substantial Completion. C. Warranty: Include coverage for installed sealants and accessories which fail to achieve airtight seal, exhibit loss of adhesion or cohesion, or do not cure. General Purpose Exterior Sealant: Polyurethane; ASTM C920, Grade NS, Class 25, Uses M, G, and A; multi- component. 1. Color: To be selected by Architect from manufacturer's standard range. 2. Applications: Use for: a. Control, expansion, and soft joints in masonry. b. Joints between concrete and other materials. c. Joints between metal frames and other materials. d. Other exterior joints for which no other sealant is indicated. 3. Polyurethane Products Basis of Design: a. Tremco Dymeric 240FC. b. BASF Construction Chemicals-Building Systems; Sonolastic NP 2: c. Substitutions: See Section Product Requirements ACCESSORIES A. Primer: Non-staining type, recommended by sealant manufacturer to suit application. B. Joint Cleaner: Non-corrosive and non-staining type, recommended by sealant manufacturer; compatible with joint forming materials. C. Joint Backing: Round foam rod compatible with sealant; ASTM D 1667, closed cell PVC; oversized 30 to 50 percent larger than joint width. D. 5 PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify that substrate surfaces are ready to receive work. B. Verify that joint backing and release tapes are compatible with sealant PREPARATION A. Remove loose materials and foreign matter that could impair adhesion of sealant. B. Clean and prime joints in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. C. Perform preparation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and ASTM C1193. D. Protect elements surrounding the work of this section from damage or disfigurement INSTALLATION A. Perform work in accordance with sealant manufacturer's requirements for preparation of surfaces and material installation instructions. B. Perform installation in accordance with ASTM C1193. C. Measure joint dimensions and size joint backers to achieve width-to-depth ratio, neck dimension, and surface bond area as recommended by manufacturer, except where specific dimensions are indicated. D. Install bond breaker where joint backing is not used. E. Install sealant free of air pockets, foreign embedded matter, ridges, and sags. F. Apply sealant within recommended application temperature ranges. Consult manufacturer when sealant cannot be applied within these temperature ranges. G. Tool joints concave. H. Precompressed Foam Sealant: Do not stretch; avoid joints except at corners, ends, and intersections; install with face 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3 to 6 mm) below adjoining surface CLEANING A. Each person receiving a copy of this report is asked to review it promptly and notify the office of JLG Architects of any errors or omissions. During this meeting the following items where discussed: 1. Project Schedule: a. Addendum No. 1: September 8, 2014 b. Bid Date: September 16, 2014 c. Award of Contracts: September 19, 2014 d. Site Demolition; September 29, 2014 e. Footing Excavation: October 6, 2014 f. Pour Footings / Foundations: October 9, 2014 g. Pre-Cast Concrete: January 1, 2015 h. Structural Steel: January 12, 2015 i. Roofing: January 26, 2015 j. Metal Stud Framing: February 9, 2015 k. Glass and Glazing: February 23, Tour of the Construction Area: a. Walked the site noting the location for the addition and new parking lot. b. Noted existing fencing and playground equipment which would be dismantled and relocated on site. c. Noted location of new parking lot and drive. 3. Questions: a. Precast Supplier, Wells Concrete had the following questions. i. Will the brick veneer at the high, insulated panels of the Gym and Cafeteria areas extend all the way through the building and be visible in the Lobby, Corridor and Vestibule areas inside the School? Answer to be included in Addendum No. 1. ii. Wells Concrete brought a precast sample panel with for the Design Team to compare/match brick color to the existing school building. Owner / Architect will verify the colors and note any changes in Addendum No. 1. iii. Wells will bid a delivery schedule that works with their current production and delivery schedule at the factory.
